Safari can't be installed on this disk - It wants 10.6.7 I have 10.6.8
Safari was playing up with errors so I decided to trash it and download the latest version to see if it would fix teh problem - when I went to install it I got the following message;
safari can't be installed on this disk - Thjis update requires 10.6.7
I have 10.6.8 (which now that I think about it is when the problems started happening with Safari in the first place. I have macbook pro 2GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3

When I try to install Safari, at the "Select a Destination" step it says: "Safari can't be installed on this disk. This update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or newer". I installed Snow Leopard last night. The old Safari browser couldn't be opened at all; I have since disposed of it in the trash...I have plenty of GB's of storage space available...any ideas of how to fix this would be appreciated!

Trying to Install Windows 8.1 on my late 2013 21.5" iMac. After I Format the Bootcamp partition, Windows Setup tells me "Windows can't be installed to this disk because it is GPT partitioned." Huh?
You must use the Windows formatter to format your Windows partition NTFS. Please be sure you select the Windows partition otherwise you might end up formatting your OS X partition NTFS.

I'm getting this error on trying to install / update LR 5.3 to 5.4:
"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2 can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating JavaScript for the package."

I have a older Airport Express unit that requires Airport Utility 5.6. When I try to install 5.8 on my OS X10.8 iMac, I get the message "Airport Utility can't be installed on this disk. The version of Mac OS X on this volume in not Supported"
Why should I have to spend money to solve this problem? Many others have the same concern, Airport Utility 6 does not support older Airport Express units. This is Apple's problem. I've tried many solutions proposed on the net but none worked. I'm still trying for a work around.

Microsoft update invited me to update to 14.1.4 today but the process fails with the following error:
"Office 2011 14.1.4 Update can't be installed on this disk. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."

What I do ?
1-I Click Verify Volume its get error msg " Disk Utility stopped verifying MAcintosh HD"
2- Volume bitmap needs minor repair for orphaned blocks????!!!
3-Invalid volume free blocks count !!!
4-The Volume MAC HD was found corrupt and need to be repaird!! How to repair???
5-Error: This Disk need to be repaired us...es window appears, Choose Disk Utility.
Please I need Full Support for above problem

ThanksWell, I've tried your solution without luck.
So, I tried reinstalling OS X Mountain Lion (without formatting the HDD) and it worked! I did it like this:
- Turned on my MBP while holding down Command-R to start OS X Recovery
- Chose the option to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion
After a while, the system rebooted and OS X 10.8.2 was already installed. All my data remained on the HDD since I didn't format it before reinstalling OS X.
Hope it helps some of you with the same problem. -

Please, advise.What version of AirPort Utility are you attempting to install, and which AirPort Base Station model do you have? Look on its case for a four digit model number preceded by the letter A.

Can you clarify what exactly you are trying to do that generates this message?
IF....you might be trying to install AirPort Utility on your Mac....you already have the most recent version on your Mac.....and you cannot install an earlier version than you already have.
Check Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility -

I just purchased MBP 2.6 Ghz running Lion 10.7.3 and I am trying to install the Combo Update 10.7.4.
After I launch the installer at the Destination Select step I get this message:
Mac OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirement for this update.
The sharing and permission on Macintosh HD are "Read & Write" for system, wheel and everyone.

If it's a new MacBook Pro (2012), you have to update in > Software Update. They need a special version -

At this point I would ask if you are having trouble with other Installs ?
I would suspect your Installer app is compromised in some way.
I would try Running (Download and Installing) the COMBO version of the 10.7.4 update over what you have already.
