Safari Can't Contact any Server, But Other Users on Same Computer Can

There must be some simple fix for this...We have two users on our PowerBook, my husband's version of Safari works just fine, but when I switch over to my desktop, Safari claims it can't contact the server, no matter what web page. My email is downloading fine.
Any suggestions?

Without knowing what you have tried please open System Preferences - Sharing - File Sharing and select File Sharing. If you still have trouble you can call AppleCare in the morning when they re-open. You have 90 days of telephone support if you haven't already bought AppleCare.

I downloaded Lion OSX and at the end I received a notice that Safari can not connect to Server. All internet connections work including Safari on other user on same computer. I downloaded 13items and installed only 12. What do I do now ?

Two users can't login to Bonjour, but other users can

All the Macs in my house are set to log into iChat on startup, which creates a defacto messaging network around the house. Quite handy. But now, on one particular machine (a G5 iMac iSight) two users can't seem to log into Bonjour, although on the same machine all the other users can.
I've looked at some other posts on this site, and have checked that Address Book shows 'me' as correct for both users. The Firewall is not set to Essential Services Only, and there is no limit on the bandwidth. The Quicktime streaming setting is set to 1.5 mbps.
In iChat, when using one of the two troublesome logins on the G5, when I click cmd-2 to bring up the Bonjour list, it says Bonjour is not enabled, and gives a click button to enable it. But clicking it does nothing - no effect whatsoever.
When those two same users use the external Buddy List (and an AIM screen name) their iChat works fine.

This is what I have found out.
It relates more to Shares shown in the Finder but may offer clues.
I have G4 Tower that has been upgraded from Jaguar actually, to Panther, Tiger and Finally Leopard.
Along the way I bought a MacBook Pro. (Now on Snow Leopard)
At this Point I changed the G4's Computer name to represent it was the G4 and called the MacBook Pro "MacBook Pro" rather than my first Admin Account name (otherwise both Computer names and Short names would have been the same)
I also changed the Leopard's My Card in the Address Book to give it a different Name in iChat.
Somewhere during this process the G4 ended up with a Ralph-G4.local ID, a computer's name of Ralph Johns's Computer, a Address Book ID of Ralph G4 and the short name of ralphjohns
The MacBook Pro has MacBook Pro as the Computer name and .local name and the short name is alsoralphjohns. The Address Book My Card is my full name.
Now in discussion with a Level 4 poster who knows more about this than I do I found out that in Leopard if File Sharing is Off the Bonjour ID is still supposed to show in the Snow Leopard Shares.
However if it is ON whether you use AFP or SMB or Both it is only supposed to appear once and mine was appearing twice.
Changing the Computer name to something else seemed to confuse things (I could not Log on to share from Either Computer)
Changing the name back resolved that but changed the .local ID on the G4 as well.
(Changing the .local name back to what it was before seems to have had now effect now.)
However the G4 now only shows once in the MacBook Pro Shares.
I do not think the Upgrades are the distinguishing feature more my poor attempts at making sure the new (then) MacBook Pro had a different ID than the G4.
I have been able to Bonjour Video and send files as well as see the Other Computer in the Bonjour Buddy lists.
So in summary.
The Address Book My Cards have to be Different.
Sometimes changing the Computer name or the .local name does seem to cause issues in File Sharing - which may have some influence on Bonjour as a whole.
Whilst my G4 was showing up in the MacBook Pro as two Shares it was listing the .local name and the Computer's Name as shown in Sharing which were different.
It maybe this if it is happening for this computer that may give clues.

-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.
if you need more help with one of the methods, post back and tell me exactly what you tried (all the steps) and what happens or doesn't happen when you try to share your library.

How do I share my Address Book with other users on same computer?

This continues to elude me. I tried Address Book sharing, syncing, etc. but they either didn't work or are way too slow. I just simply want to be able to use the same database for all users on the same computer. I'm really surprised that Apple doesn't offer this functionality.
I read one solution about creating a separate hard drive solution, selecting Ignore Permissions on it and moving the database to that and then setting up symbolic links for each user to point their Address Book database to that database. But this still seems like a major pain.
Is there not something more simple and reliable?

No. You don't have to use an external drive and can put it in a folder in /Users/Shared and set inherited ACLs to allow different users to read/write to it as outlined in this [post|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7245381&#7245381]. You'll still need to erase original address book folders and put symbolic links to the shared folder if you do that. there is nothing simpler I'm afraid.

Sharing music with other users on same computer...possible?

I'd like to be able to share music between users who can log in on the same computer. Is this possible and how.
I currently have all the music in the admiistrators log in and can't see it when I log in as a regular user.

You might also want to uncheck the preference in the other Users accounts to prevent them from adding the song file to the hard disk when importing music. This means that only YOU as the admin can add files to the Library. You will find this preference under iTunes in the menu bar, Click on the "Advanced" tab and then the "General" Tab.

Firefox crashes on start up & only on my user and not other users on same computer

i have used firefox for many years thn all of a sudden i keep getting the crash reporter, so i can never try safe mode or other things because it crashes on strt up. Th strange thing is whn i log on to my wife user it works fine.

Firefox will not load any web pages. I recently ran a registry cleaner/virus scan on my computer and now Firefox 5 will not load ''any''webpages. It displays a "Problems Loading Page" error message. Hi, Go to this Adobe test site and you should be able to see the Flash Player logo animate and your FP version will be listed also. The latest is 10.1.85.3. Test with Firefox and also with Safari.

The Shockwave Flash plugin works thru the browser and is Installed there, so when you view any Flash content or videos, etc. you are able to. That test site should tell you if Flash Player is working.

Can not cut and paste in 10.5.5 in on user profile but other users fine

We have an 24" iMac running 10.5.5 (with all latest updates). Pretty simple machine, nothing fancy on it, just simple machine. One of the 5 users on it can not cut and paste, but other users can just fine. I can not find anything much on this. Any & all advice is most appreciated.

I very much appreciate the suggestion, I do, and please do not take this the wrong way, thank you again for taking the time to try to help me, but ..... I am not going to take a bazooka to this ant hill on this specific issue for this user.
We're talking about hours & ours of work, maybe more, to find out why cut-n-paste (ie: Apple+C and Apple-V) do not work & that ought to be findable & correctable as a single issue with a single action.
If it is not, then I guess that is another issue isnt it, and I'll be taking that up with the manufacturer.
I continue to look for the "right"(tm) solution.
+note to "discussions site webmaster": why would this form as the poster for the OS & model & details of their post again (ie: when theyre replying here, to someone else, as I am here). Do we think that those items have changed in the last hour since the first post? Why 127.0.0.1 can not receive any data,but MulticastAddress(224.123.111.101) can? I use jmfstudio to tansport media and set the dest address to 127.0.0.1.I use anther jmfstudio,and fail to receive it.(ps:wo jmfstudio runs in the same machine at the same time).But after I change the dest addrest to 224.123.111.101,it receive data.Can any one tell me why?

I have managed to resolve it. What I found is I typed in a wrong password when one app loaded. That app gave a misleading network connectivity error. Other apps are connecting fine now.
