Safari, can't following links

I can load all the web pages I want, but when I select a link nothing happens. I can move the page, zoom in, zoom out, but now clicking on the link. If you put your finger on the link it is to show the address it links to, it doesn't even do that.

me too - and fixed is like this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
To turn completely off
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. When iPhone is off, incoming calls go straight to voicemail.
To reset
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Safari Can't Send Link to Mail

I was using Safari and wanted to send a link in an e-mail message (with Mail Link To This Page). Safari 5.0.2 is set as default browser, and Mail 4.3 is default mail application. I had Mail open and running at the time of each attempt. I also tried with Mail closed, and it still gave me the following error and wouldn't open Mail. The following message appears on each of the web pages that I have tried to use. One page is one I use frequently.
+"An e-mail message can't be created to send the link because Safari can't find an e-mail application.+
+You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send email. To do so, you might need to install Mail using the Mac OS X install discs. OK"+
Any ideas on this? This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem. Also seeing the same message if I select Mail Contents of This Page.
    Hoping for guidance and solution.

    HI,
Restart your Mac. Sometimes just restarting your Mac can make a difference. If not...
Another Safari user had the same problem and deleting the .cache.db file helped. http://discussions.info.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12182590
In a Finder window select your home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder.
Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari and try again.

  • Can't follow links in emails

When I receive an email on my E61i and the email contains html links, the links aren't active, ie I can't click on them and follow the link.

E-mail's ability to follow links is from the "Automatic find" feature.
When you are in you e-mail with the links you want to follow press the options soft key. In that menu you should see an entry "Automatic find on". scroll down and select and you should now be able to follow your link.

  • Safari can't click links

    Hi guys / girls,
Im a student in the Netherlands. My school uses Sharepoint for files, info etc.
The problem with safari ( also Firefox , Chrome ) is that i can't click certain links. If i put the pointer on the link it says" javascript: " in the bottom of Safari. If i click on it it doesn't do anything.
Do you have a fix for this problem.
    Thanks in advance
    Tom

Make sure you have Javascript turned on in the preferences.

  • Safari Crashes while following links

Since installing Leopard I am finding that Safari has become very unstable. It tends to crash when I dig down into a web page by following two or three links. For a specific example, it tends to crash about half the time when I click on the reader comments link on AppleInsider. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Very troubling after using Safari for years with satisfaction, then paying good money to upgrade to Leopard. I like the new browser features, but not the constant crashing. PS-this has nothing to do with MySpace--I don't use it.

Have you tried resetting Safari? Also, deleting the cache, cookies, and preferences files has helped historically. They are all in User Name>Library. The cache is in the Cache folder (look for the file that's associated with Safari). The cookies are in the Cookie folder. And the preference is in the, well you guessed it, in the Preferences folder (look for the file that's associated with Safari; should be something like "com.apple.safari.plist").

  • Can PHDs follow links/

I have a user who, for space limitations, has a symbolic link in his local home directory (on a macbook pro) that points to an external drive. So far I have been unable to figure out how to get his symbolic link to sync with his network account. I have him set up with a portable home that works just fine (except for the symbolic link.
Seems like I need a option similar to what rsync has that causes the sync agent to follow symbolic links.
    Is this possible?

    Hi njerseyjo,
If you are having issues with hyperlinks in messages not functioning, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My ipod safari can't open links or press buttons.

Like for instance,I tried to press one of the episodes from http://www.justanimedubbed.tv/watch/adventure-time/ and it won't let me.When I press it,it doesn't do anything...And even if I type the specific URL for the episode,it won't let me watch the video because I press "Skip Ad" and it doesn't do anything..There were no problems before,it just suddenly happened...

I went to the site on my iPhone and had same problem as you. Then I went to the site on my computer and that indicated that it was Fash since I block Fash and have to click on the Flash boxes to play them.

  • Safari can't handle some links...

When I go to this link http://library.louisville.edu/research/mathematics/index.html and then click on MathSciNet, I get the following message: Safari can't open the specified address. This does not happen in Firefox (Mac) or any Window's browser. Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks.

Well, not exactly. It's supposed to take me to a "log in from home" page, so that I can download material from the mathsci as a UofL student. If I go directly to the mathsci website, I wouldn't be able to download material from it.
Safari will not display this "log in from home" page.... but Firefox (Mac) and windows' browsers will...
    Thanks though.

  • Safari won't follow some links

i'm developing a site in rails... testing the app locally works fine in firefox and safari. if i deploy to my remote server though, safari refuses to follow some links, and fails to obey some server-side redirects.
the links are nothing out of the ordinary, like
    http://myserver.com/blog/2;edit
if i tell safari to open in a new window, then the "Activity" window will show the URL with a status of "error" but no more information. these URLs all point to very plain xhtml pages... nothing i can think of to explain this behavior, especially given that safari has no problem when i'm serving from localhost.
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    jeff

no ideas, but seeing it all the time too. generally it's when i hit a post button or submit certain forms. It does not correct itself going back or whatever. i just lose my post (***** when it's a long one) bounce over to firefox and no problem. give a safari can't open page window.

  • Safari fails to update followed links dynamically

I mentioned this a while ago and am surprised that Apple continues to produce perhaps the only browser which fails to update followed links dynamically.
The bug is best illustrated with an example. Hit this URL:
    http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=100&newwindow=1&q=apple
and then try one or two links on the resulting Google page.
All other browsers I have tried update the followed links on the Google page dynamically without it being reloaded but Safari does not.
I do not use tabs and am not sure if those using tabs will be aware of the bug.
This is the only thing which stops me using Safari as my default browser.
I would be grateful if others can confirm that they also get this bug.

    Many thanks bdash.
I am surprised it was not included with this week's Safari 3.2.1.
I have just tried iCab and the result is consistent with it being a WebKit issue.
The original bug report that you linked to compared Safari with Firefox but, from memory, with the exception of WebKit virtually all browsers produced from at least 5 series onwards have dynamically updated followed links.
I will put a link to this thread on
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1702301
and any other pages about this issue which I come across.
Thanks again for your timely helpful reply - I will mark this as 'answered'.

  • Safari 5.1.3 can't open link pages

When I'm on Facebook or any other site that people post links:  I click on the link, a new Safari window opens, and after 15-20 seconds I get a "failed to open page" prompt that states:
"Safari can't open the page (link) because the server where this page is located isn't responding".
And yet, if I copy and paste the link to a new window it opens just fine.
    Why?
Why can't a link within another site open?
    Safari 5.1.3
    Mac OS 10.7.3

Wow.  Ok, I'll let the programmers fix the bug before I try any of those steps.  That's too much for me to handle, which is why I entrust new technology to the experts.  Though it seems in this case they have failed.
