Safari can't open page because you're not connected to the internet

Suddenly I can't access the internet. Don't know if this means anything but we had a bad storm last night. I didn't think my Mac was affected because it runs normally as far as the programs and I had turned it off but when I try to get to the internet I get the above message. Naturally, it's driving me nuts since I'm not too computer savvy about these things. I need someone to tell me in non-technical terms what to try. Since I have not got internet access at home, I'm sending this from my office computer. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Hi,
Your profile is a little confusing.
iMac Tiger Mac OS X (10.4.11) It might be Mac OX X 10.4.10
Which version of Tiger is your Mac running?

  • Safari cannot open page because ipad is not connected to the internet

Hi, I updated too iOS7 recently and everything was fine (except iBooks!) until yesterday, when I got the message saying "Safari could not open the page ... because your iPad is not connected to the internet." I'm using wireless connection, and my iMac is working with no problem. Have tried most suggested things here like rebooting, resetting all settings etc. but am getting nowhere. Would appreciate any assistance, Thank you.

    reset network settings...settings>gen>reset>reset network..
    if that does not work.
    backup the device on itunes.
    restore with itunes.
setup as new on the device. then try it.
if it works try restoring from the backup,, if it does not work after that then the backup as a bug.
you then would set the device up as new again and just use it without the back up

As with previous posts this is usually a DHCP issue and occurs frequently especially with routers connected to Cable Modems or those Micro-Cell towers.
Unplug all Routers, AirPorts (or other off brand Wi-Fi broadcast units) and any other Wireless broadcast unit that might provide you with a WDS (often other AirPorts feeding off the signal of the AirPort closest to Cable/DSL Modem) and best to totally power down the Unit affected; lastly either hold a reset button on Cable/DSL modem for 30-45 seconds or actually power it down if an option (not suppose to power down Cable Modems that have Telephony for some odd never completely explained to me reason).
Let Cable/DSL Modem re-boot till 'all green lights'. Then power up each device involved in order from closest to farthest waiting each time for completion of initiation. Micro-cell towers can take 10 minutes to completely re-boot and you must wait for across the board green lights in my experience. Even WDS can add a few minutes till all green on mother AirPort unit.
Only NOW may you re-start the offending device and see if it will connect. Works about 99% of the time!

I keep getting a message "safari cannot open page [page name with header information] because you are not connected to the internet.  Then I check CNN for a time stamp, and I am connected to the internet.  I have reset everything suggested in other posts, ensured any other device that could be hogging bandwidth is off, the router is reset, the iPad is reset.  The other devices are not having this problem, and it happens on both places I use the iPad, the university library, (getting a second degree after a change in a long time career and at home. Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.

My ipad 2 appears to be connected to the internet(all bars are up in the left hand corner).....yet I cannot connect to the internet(Safari cannot connect open the page because it is not connected to the internet)
I unplugged my router for 30 seconds and restarted my ipad...still nothing
I really don't think it is my service because my laptop works fine...as I am using the internet right now
I only had this ipad for 2 days
Are there any suggestions that can help solve this problem?

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

when i click on safari to use the internet it says "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet", but i am connected to a wifi network so how do i get safari to work?

you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues.

  • HT1695 Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet

I recently bought iPhone 4 which is still "Locked" for cellular carriers in my country. It's a jailbroken phone.Therefor I connected to internet using a hotspot in my laptop via wi-fi.I'm using windows 7 in my laptop.I was able to connect to the internet without any problem till yesterday, but now I'm getting this error message "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet".I reset my network data and reboot my phone and router several times but still having same problem.I can see the wi-fi icon in my phone with full signal strength.Probably I got this problem after downloading the crack app called "iThemes",but I'm not 100% sure about this.
How can I fix this problem.
    Thank you.

Hacking an iPhone is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone which you have admitted to violating on a forum that is provided and moderated by Apple, and is not supported by Apple directly or indirectly via this forum.
You are on your own - contact whoever you downloaded the hacking garbage from for help with this, which has also made your iPhone very insecure removing all the built-in security included with iOS.

  • Cannot open page: "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet."

I got a 32 GB ipod touch for my birthday and no matter how hard I try I can never get on the internet through my wifi. When I go to settings I click on my wifi and when I type in the password there's a blue check on the left but there's still a lock symbol on the right. Everytime I try to go to safari I get the message "Cannot open page: "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet." I've literally tried everything and would appreciate any help. This has been frustrating me for weeks.

What does it mean when I click on my wifi name and it show I'm on my wifi, but the network keeps thinking and the ipad says, Safari cannot open this page because it is not connected to the internet. ?

When you click on the WiFi network name, have you also provided the password for accessing the network?  You should get a dialogue box asking you for the security information the first time you connect.
If you are not able to connect, you might want to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.
Then go back to Settings > WiFi and select your network name again and make sure the security information is now entered correctly.
If you still cannot connect, power down the router, wait a few minutes, power up the router, with the iPad powered down the whole time, and after the router has had several minutes to stabilize power up the iPad.  See if it now connects correctly.

    hi

Since about 2 weeks ago for no apparent reason, the internet on my iPad suddenly stopped working (when I open Safari, it says: "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet"), even though the Wifi icon in the top left corner still shows full signal. However, I noticed when I went into Wifi settings (Settings>Wifi) that there is no checkmark next to my network name (only the spinning circle icon, as if it's trying to process something). This only happens at home (I can browse the internet while connected to  Wifi at university). My other Apple devices (MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S) work perfectly fine at home.
I've tried resetting my router, restarting my iPad, resetting Network Settings on my iPad, and tried following Hynes' instructions on this thread:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2453187?start=15&tstart=0, but nothing has worked so far (although I have to admit that I found the instructions on that thread somewhat confusing, so there is a chance that I accidentally did not follow them properly).
Could someone please help? It'd be VERY much appreciated.

Reset everything.. did you do this?
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings
If you're already been there, done that, could be a third party app preventing Safari from accessing the web.
Re sync your apps 5 at a time, then test the iPad.
