Safari can't see latest iphoto import

One thing that drives me nuts about my new mac is that if I import a new photo in iPhoto (i.e. from Flash drive or iPhone) it can never find it until I restart my computer. If you're in facebook or blogger or anything, and you click to upload a file, it will only see whatever you imported previously, not the latest pictures.
Clearly, something's set up funny. Ideas?

  • Can't see my Iphoto Library

Just updated Iphoto. Now I can not see my Iphoto Library.

    Restore from your back up.
For anythign else you need to explain more:
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • After I updated to Yosemite I can't see my Iphoto library in the attachments window.  When I select Media - Pictures only my Photo Booth Library Comes up

After I updated to Yosemite I can't see my Iphoto library in the attachments window.  When I select Media ->Pictures only my Photo Booth Library Comes up

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • My Safari can't communicate with iPhoto-.anyone know why??

When sending a photo to iPhoto... I get a box telling me that Safari can't communicate with iPhoto... Does anyone know why and how to fix this??

    All photo's?
    Photo's from specific websites?
Seriously need to upgrade that mac to mavericks already btw. you can do that here, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-mavericks/id675248567?mt=12

  • Safari can not upload images newly imported into iPhoto. I have to shutdown iphoto and safari before the latest import of images into iPhoto is found my safari.

When I want to upload images to facebook on safari - from a NEWLY imported album in iPhoto - Safari can not find the new album in iPhoto. Obviously the most commonly uploaded images are the recent ones. I am uploading them to a facebook page, not my own account - which is not possible from iphoto. So I have to shutdown safari and iphoto and then do the upload again. This has happened me three times now - and - well - its one of those annoying things that windows 95 could have done and super safari can't .... could apple sort this out sometime. Please.

You'll not get a rebuttal from me. I still run into Wizard of Oz moments.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How can i keep my iphoto imports and onedrive photos in the same place and synced to onedrive?

I currently subscribe to Office365 and use OneDrive to sync all my docs and files from my old Windows PC to my Mac (OSX Mavericks).
I have a tons of photos already on OneDrive and would like to so my PhotoSteam and also when I import photos or use iPhoto that it uses the OneDrive Photo folder/directory.
    Is this possible?
As a new OSX users I am not sure how to do this, in Windows I would have just changed the directory of the Picture library but cannot see a way to do this on OSX.
Any help and pointers (in as simple steps as possible!) would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Phil

Yes it is possible but no you really, really don't want to do this if you're using iPhoto.
You can't put an iPhoto Library on OneDrive. It's not a Directory, but a rather complex ecosystem of sql database, files, caches and metadata. Basically, you're trying to run a Mac database from a Windows disk and that's always going to cause problems. (as doing the reverse would too.)
You can (in theory) run iPhoto with storing the files on OneDrive but don't. iPhoto has no tools to manage this set up properly, and you're only storing up issues for further down the road.

  • Where can I see the iphoto pictures?

    Hello everyone.
First of all, this is my first time here for a mac. Previous times were always for my iphone.
I have been playing around with the iphoto, and as the itunes does, it keeps its own library, which I already found.
But the thing is that I cant find the pictures in it, just files. So for example if I want to transfer the pictures to an usb drive, I have to do it using the iPhoto?
And then another thing, if I already have a folder in my mac with pictures and I import them to the iPhoto, I will have them twice, isnt it?
I hope someone could give me a hand with this
    Thanks for reading.

iPhoto is a manager for your Photos. It replaces the File browser for anything - and I do mean anything - to do with your Photos. It's the go-to app for your Pictures.
So, yes, to send a photo to a USB Drive: File -> Export or Drag and Drop from the iPhoto Window to the Drive.
By default, iPhoto copies the files into the Library on import, so yes you have them twice.
    Some FYI:
Want to use a different photo editor:
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Want to use your photos somewhere else...
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • ITunes can't see my iPhoto Library

This evening I updated iPhoto to v11.4 and after the update it required my iPhoto library to be updated to work with the updated version of the software.  After that was complete, iTunes could no longer see my iPhoto library, albums etc.  It looks like I have an empty iPhoto in iTunes.  All my other iLife and iWork software can see my iPhoto library, albums etc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you're having the same exact issue as I am but bottom line, after updating my iPhone 4 and my 3rd gen iPad to iOS 6 and doing the requisite updates on my macbook pro, my iPad will not show up in iTunes unless it's physically connected, even though the wireless sync option is selected and the only option in iTunes is to synch ALL photos, which results in an error 1140 and sync failure when selected.  The option to sync selected albums is grayed out and below, no iPhoto albums show up.  I think there's an issue with the iPhoto update or iOS 6.  Not good!

  • How come I can't see my iPhoto library when uploading?

When I want to upload a photo to the internet, craigslist.org for instance. I click upload to browse for photo then go to my photos but the iPhoto library icon is grayed out. I know how to get around it by dragging the selected photos to my desktop then uploading those. It takes forever to open iphoto so i rarely open it, but all my pictures are in there and there is no other way to get to them other than opening them. Is there an easier way? Why?
    Thanks
    Charles

    Charles
With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.*
*Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS*
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
I've highlighted the one's that may be of most use to you.

  • I can't see my iphoto pictures

My photos are stored on an external hard drive, and we recently uploaded a new batch of photos. All of a sudden, we  can only see those new photos. The iPhoto Library says it's 24GB so I know the other photos are still there. How do I get these back?

    Try rebuilding the iPhoto Library......

  • Can't see my iPhoto events on Apple TV 2

    Hi,
In iTunes I selected to show all my pictures from the last 12 months on Apple TV 2. They indeed show up correctly, but all in one album. I want to have my events show up as well. I need to scroll through 3000 pictures to get to the most recent ones at the bottom. It takes ages.
I'd like to see my events from the last 12 months as well, just like on iPhone/iPad. Any idea how?
    Thanks!
    Jef

I have also the same problem:
I can't see older photos events of iPhoto on my Apple TV 2nd Gen. Only recent events are shown and I have selected to see all photos, events and faces from the sharing preferences in iTunes. Does anybody have any idea how to solve it?
Does anybody with the new iOS beta for developers has tested this issue?

  • Can't see shared iPhoto library

Computer A can't see Computer B's shared iPhoto library, but B can see A's. Both are running identical versions of iPhoto.
Both can see each other's iTunes library. Both can connect to each other over the network and transfer files to and fro (they're both on the same home wireless network, same subset).
Computer B has over 4000 photos, while Computer A has just a couple hundred; could that be a problem?
    Here's what I have done:
Verified each iPhoto Preferences is set to "Look for shared photos" and "Share my photos".
Tried requiring a password, and not requiring a password
Verified System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall has "iPhoto Bonjour Sharing" checked.
Deleted each computer's iPhoto plist, and reconfiguring iPhoto Preferences as above
    Turned off Little Snitch
Quit / restarted iPhoto a few times
Logged in / out, rebooted a few times
    Researched iPhoto Help
    Researched the discussion boards
Repaired permissions on both (as you can see, I'm resorting to voodoo tactics)
    Googled the problem
    Posted this topic
That's all I can think of to do.
    So... what haven't I done?
Message was edited by: John Galt - 4000 photos

    add to the list:
Created a "test" user account on Computer B, logged in as "test", launched iPhoto, and set it to share / look for shared libraries.
No change - A can't see B, B can see A. So it's unrelated to the size of the library, probably unrelated to anything iPhoto, probably a network issue. But what?

  • Can't see latest keynote through airport express.

i tried to see the latest keynote from apple here:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/keynote/
but apparently i can only see it when my wireless macs are disconnected from my airport extreme and connect through wire.
do i have to change setting in the airport express ? ( I tried changing the channel from 1 to automatic but that is not the solution).
    any help would be appreciated.

Never mind. I figured it out. The printer, which was set up automatically for the airport, had selected a generic printer driver that didn't allow double sided printing. I selected the appropriate driver and it works.

  • How can I see my iphoto pictures on AppleTV via itune?

When I choose "Photo sharing preferences" in itune I can't see my picture folders from iphoto. There are zero photos available whereas I have thousands...  Home sharing is turned on. It seems that the picture library cannot be found.

when your phone is plugged in, on itunes you click your device. and on the device summary page, there are 4-5 tabs. one of the tabs is photos. you can choose the photos file you want to add to your phone there.
