Safari cannot detect iTunes

I'm using Safari 5.0.3 and iTunes 64-Bit 10.1.0.56, whenever I try to open a link in safari that will link me to Apps store in iTunes, safari cannot detect iTunes and always ask me to download iTunes, I don't face this problem in firefox, only safari.. impossible apple software unable to detect its own application right? I'm using 64-bit windows 7. and I tried to reinstall both iTunes and safari already, still can't.

Let's try a variation of the iTunes reinstall again.
Quit safari and iTunes if you have them open.
In Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
Open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
Open the "iTunes" folder.
Right-click the "Mozilla plugins" folder and select "Delete".
(Safari and Firefox both use that set of plug-ins to detect the iTunes application.)
Now head into your "Uninstall a program" control panel, select iTunes and do a repair install of iTunes.
(That should regenerate the Mozilla plugins folder and content.)
Restart Safari. Any better luck with detecting iTunes now?

You can't download any programs or plugins via Safari, you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app directly on the iPad - 'normal' PC and Mac programs are not compatible with the iPad. For iTunes there is already a built-in iTunes app on the iPad - iTunes on the iPad is the iTunes store, your downloaded and synced music, audiobooks and audio podcasts will go into the Music app, and your films and tv shows into the Videos app.
You can see what your current version of iOS is via Settings > General > About > Version
Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.  Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites have their own apps in the App Store.
There is a google chrome app in the store.
If you haven't already got a copy then you can download a copy of the iPad manual from here : http://support.apple.com/manuals/ipad/

  • Safari cannot detect link

I have been sent a link to a document formatted as a pdf-file.  When it steer the mouse-pointer over the link, nothing happens.  When I steer the mouse-pointer a little below the link, the pointing-hand image flickers on and off at such speed that it cannot be used.
The website-manager insists that he can get the link to work, using Safari with plug-ins enabled.  I cannot.
I have looked at MacintoshHD/Libarary/Internet plug-ins, and can see nothing there that mentions pdf.  What I see is as follows:

what do i do if my internet is wep and i need it to be wpa2 because my ipod touch 4th gen connects to the internet but when i click on safari or itunes it says safari cannot open the page because its not connected to the internet. i have contacted apple support and they said to change from wep to wpa2 but when i change it to wpa2 and type in password and connect on my laptop it says the saved setting on this computer for the network do not match the require ments of the network

My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
You may need to go back and start over.  Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.

  • TS1538 Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows.

Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows. However, the driver "Microsoft teredo Tunneling adapter" has a yellow exclamation mark, which i believe means it's not installed correctly or something is wrong with it. This driver is under the Network Adapters (Please see picture below).
This is what happens when I connect my iPhone 4s to my laptop (Windows 7 Starter 32-bit)
    1. The phone charges it's battery
    2. I can open it in My Computer and import/export media files.
    In iTunes
    3. It start to sync until step 3 then stops.
    4. The iPhone option with an arrow appears beside the iTunes Store, but when the arrow is clicked it disappears.
I hope you can provide me a solution for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Ralph

    Hi ralphagir,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
For your iTunes issue with it not recognizing your iPhone, I would go ahead and suggest deleting iTunes and all of its components from your Windows computer and installing fresh.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
As far as the arrow button that you click and the iPhone disappears, it sounds like you may be clicking on the eject button. Please take a look at the following article for information on the eject button in iTunes.
    Safely disconnect iPod

When I purchase music through iTunes from my MacBook Pro, my iPhone 4 iTunes app cannot detect those purchase to allow them to download to my phone. If I open up the iTunes app and select "purchased > music > not on this iphone" it tells me "All of your available music has been downloaded to this device." However, my purchases are not yet downloaded to the iphone and not available to download. If I go to "purchased > music > all > recent purchases" it will show me the purchases that were most recent the last time I synced my phone, but not the purchases since then.
Any thoughts on how I can remedy this and make all of my purchased music available on my phone without requiring syncing?

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

    Hi Demo,
Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
    The iPad is first generation
OS 5.1.1 Software up to date.

My itunes cannot detect my ipod touch 5g. How do I fix this?
All I know is that my itunes has not been updated. If this is the problem, I tried to close and reopen the program but the "update" popup isn't popping up anymore and I'm not sure where I can manually update it myself.
    Please help!
    Thanks

The 5G (iOS 6) require 10.5 or higher
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later7 (free download from www.apple.com/itunes/download)

The new cable is completely new, and my computer can detect the phone as a drive, and battery charging is ok. So I believe the USB cable works properly. It is so weird that just iTune itself cannot detect the phone, and it is of the most updated version. What else can I do? Thanks.

Found solution on web : uninstall iTunes & all Apple-related apps, delete all Apple-designated folders from <user>/AppData/..., restart PC, download & reinstall iTunes, finish installation without starting iTunes, restart PC, run iTunes and connect iPhone to PC. Sync starts and Outlook can be found under the Info section. Contacts sync-ed without problem. Calendar refuses to sync. Still searching for solution to this remaining problem.
