Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. Any change?

  • Safari cannot find the internet plug in

I have a new Intel iMac that initially had no problem surfing any web site. I now have a problem with any page that contains "shockwave". As and example when I try to got to www.autotoll.com.hk I get stopped by the following message...
++Safari cannot find the internet plug in++
++The page “Autotoll” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:++
    ++http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer++
++Do you want to open the page?++
I have gone to macromedia numerous times and tried to download and install Flash Player 9. I still get the same message.
I have also tried using FIREFOX and get the same message.
How do I install Flash Player 9 properly??????
    HELP!!!

Re: FLASH 9 won't work with Safari 2.0.4 or Firefox (A FIX!!!)

    threejay10,
thanks for pointing me to the other discussion thread on
    http://www.justin-cook.com/wp/2007/03/08/flash-9-doesnt-work-on-mac-os-x/
i am not that comfortable in Terminal so I opted for the one other option i could see that doesn't reliance on me typing a slew of sensitive characters into Terminal.
So, instead, I downloaded Pseudo from VersionTracker
    http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/9608
installed it in my applications folder. then dragged the Flash 9 installer onto Pseudo. Flash then installed perfectly and all is working well.
It seems there is a simple fix after all. Apparently Pseudo installs into the root and therefore, I assume, bypasses the permissions issues. After 2 days of trying to solve this, I"m happy it's over. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I hope others can find this thread and the solution.
    Cheers, TM

  • Safari cannot find the server and question mark in blue square

    Hi
I consistently have problems with safari displaying the message safari cannot find the server. The version I have is 5.1.8 and I installed a security update today (23.3.13) hoping it would solve the problem. After refreshing the page a couple of times or restarting safari everything works as normal but this is an ongoing issue. I also have problems with images loading on sites. They appear as blue squares with question marks. I have tried most things people have said on the net but nothing is working.
    Please help!
    Thanks

    HI aad1612,
Try deleting the safari plist by foloowing these instructions:
    Close Safari
    Open a Finder window
Click on "Go" in the upper status bar
Click and HOLD the alt/option key (Library should appear in the above list)
Keep holding the alt/otion key and click on Library (this will open a new window)
Open the Preference folder (NOT Preference Panes)
    Look for com.apple.Safari.plist
Right mouse client to move this file to trash
    Empty the trash
Open Safari again and hopefully your issue will be reoslved.
    Good Luck

David Franklin if the download was previously available under your account then please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.  If still available then the software can be re-enabled for download.
Once you have downloaded a copy of the installation files I would recommend making a back up in case you ever need the installation files in the future.

  • Safari Cannot find Server

    hi all,
just purchased a new macbook a few days ago and i have found that when i am trying to access certain websites i get a message up saying "safari cannot open the followig page as Safari cannot find the server". i have tried emptying cache and reseting safari but it is still happening on a regular basis with different sites. could it be a problem with my internet settings?? i connect via airport to a wireless modem.

    Hello z:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
First, check with your ISP to be sure your settings are correct.
To correct a different problem, I use OpenDNS (free version). That may not address your issue, but it cannot hurt.

  • CS6 fails to export to PDF - cannot find Acrobat

Running Windows 7  and have Acrobat X installed. Can open Acrobat. Tried PDF (Interactive) and get error that it cannot find Acrobat. Plz help.

InDesing does not require Acrobat to export PDF. Have you checked the box to view after exporting, perhaps? Can you export without that box checked?
If so, there's something wrong in Windows, I suspect, that it cannot find Acrobat.

  • Safari cannot find mail.app

I'm running Safari 5.1.4, and Mail 5.2 on a system running OS 10.7.3.
I am trying to send a link to a page from safari using CMD+SHIFT+I. When I attempt to do that, I receive a message that Safari cannot find an email application. I checked Mail's preferences, and it is listed as the default mail application.
Any ideas on how to get Safari to find Mail?

You need to reset the LaunchServices database.
Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Copy or drag – don't type – the text below into the Terminal window:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain user
That's all one line, though it will scroll on this page. Triple-click anywhere in the text to select it all.
Press return. Log out, then log back in.

  • "video/x-ms-wma" Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in

The page: http://lamega.lamusica.com/player.shtml doesn't load the content because the message "Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in"
I already have this plug-in: Microsoft® Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin but I see in the MIME Type only show "audio/x-ms-wma" but not the "video/x-ms-wma".
    Help me....
    Thanks a lot

I actually don't get any error message at all. The Q is greyed out and a large ? in center of it and nothing works in Safari. I get the same non-message wherever I go that has QT. I have tried some of the fixes that have worked for other people but nothing works so far. I tossed the webplugin into the trash and restarted Safari. I repaired permissions. I looked at the plug-ins list in help but that was only confusing since I don't have a clue what any of those control. Getting frustrated and have spent a couple of hours trying to fix this.

  • Sometimes "Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in" which I've installed!?

Although, I already have this plug-in: Microsoft® Windows Media Player. What to do?

Just wondering if anyone can help....I do not have a Mac so am finding it difficult to test.
I have just published an online magazine which was initially in the .dnl file format, which has come to light that mac users cannot view.
To try and resolve this I created an .exe file but it would seem that most mac users cannot view this either as they do not have virtual pc etc... which is required to view the .exe file.
I have now created a PDF version which has satidifed some people on macs temporarily but trying desperately to offer something to mac users I thought I had the answer, by uploading the magazine to a browser so it does not require downloading.....but:
The first person to try it out for me got: Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in and on trying to obtain one it could not find one.
I really thought it would work as you do not need the .dnl reader until you try to save the book or detach it to view it on screen.
Does anyone know if there is a way to view the content in a web browser????
Any help would be much appreciated as I do not want to leave the Mac users out.
Here is the link incase anyone fancies trying it for me....any feedback would be appreciated.

  • TS3408 I have a MacBook Air and suddenly Safari cannot find the Facebook server. I am out of my home country but no problem with my iPhone. Laptop was no problem either until now. Any recommendation?

I have a Mac Air and suddenly Safari can't find the Facebook server. I am out of my home countryt but no problem with my iPhone's Safari. Any recommendations? I would like to put some pictures on Facebook from iPhoto. Thanks.

you cannot keep up with all of the interfaces 'cause they do not even allow you to use the older os.
You should be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion via the App Store applicaiton on your Macbook Air.   You do not have to upgrade, but it should be an option.
I can't even get an ichat acct 'cause, help?
iChat can use AOL Instant Messenger accounts (they are free), iChat can use Google Talk (Jabber) accounts (actually any Jabber based chat service).   And if you upgrade to Mountain Lion, you shoul be able to get an Apple iCloud account that can be used with the Messages replacement for iChat (think of Messages as being iChat renamed, with additional features).
Oh and my battery very close to a year after buying it, which is one of the reasons I was so called to it, the battery life.  Well, having it stripped down to minimal usage, while working on nothing crazy, I could be cordless from nevver reahing 100% anymore, just under that, but gets to 20 percent in about 3 hours. No audio, no video, light low, it bothers me anyway.  Please, this is also a huge problem.
Every battery today, has a limited number of recharges (not just Apple's).   Depending on how many times it has been recharged, will affect how much power it will eventually hold. <http://www.apple.com/batteries/>
I know that generally after about 2 years of use (my use, not yours) I find that my batteries have very little life left in them (I frequently have my devices plugged in, so running fully on batteries only is most likely less than yours).
You can have your battery replaced by Apple (for a fee) or by an authorized Apple repair facility.

  • Safari cannot open acrobat files

How do I fix 6.0.3 to read Acrobat files.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
