Safari cannot find Internet Plug-In

Hi,
I am getting the following pop-up when visiting certain websites. Is there something I can download or is this just a case of Safari not supporting a certain site? Thanks a lot for the help - I'm a new Mac user!
JPA
The page “NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA, Fantasy Sports and more: CBS SportsLine.com” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.

No they're different; VLC is an independent, but free, program. Flip is made to play .wmv's in Quicktime. I used to use VLC to play a lot of things QT would not play, but Flip seems to handle most things now. Except Real videos.
I have noticed some vids that when playing in QT, look like a psychadelic nightmare. The vid plays, but it's a rainbow of colors. I then open these using VLC, and they play fine. So, get both. But I think you'll find flip solves most of your issues.

I have a new Intel iMac that initially had no problem surfing any web site. I now have a problem with any page that contains "shockwave". As and example when I try to got to www.autotoll.com.hk I get stopped by the following message...
++Safari cannot find the internet plug in++
++The page “Autotoll” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:++
    ++http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer++
++Do you want to open the page?++
I have gone to macromedia numerous times and tried to download and install Flash Player 9. I still get the same message.
I have also tried using FIREFOX and get the same message.
How do I install Flash Player 9 properly??????
    HELP!!!

Re: FLASH 9 won't work with Safari 2.0.4 or Firefox (A FIX!!!)

    threejay10,
thanks for pointing me to the other discussion thread on
    http://www.justin-cook.com/wp/2007/03/08/flash-9-doesnt-work-on-mac-os-x/
i am not that comfortable in Terminal so I opted for the one other option i could see that doesn't reliance on me typing a slew of sensitive characters into Terminal.
So, instead, I downloaded Pseudo from VersionTracker
    http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/9608
installed it in my applications folder. then dragged the Flash 9 installer onto Pseudo. Flash then installed perfectly and all is working well.
It seems there is a simple fix after all. Apparently Pseudo installs into the root and therefore, I assume, bypasses the permissions issues. After 2 days of trying to solve this, I"m happy it's over. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I hope others can find this thread and the solution.
    Cheers, TM

  • "video/x-ms-wma" Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in

The page: http://lamega.lamusica.com/player.shtml doesn't load the content because the message "Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in"
I already have this plug-in: Microsoft® Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin but I see in the MIME Type only show "audio/x-ms-wma" but not the "video/x-ms-wma".
    Help me....
    Thanks a lot

I actually don't get any error message at all. The Q is greyed out and a large ? in center of it and nothing works in Safari. I get the same non-message wherever I go that has QT. I have tried some of the fixes that have worked for other people but nothing works so far. I tossed the webplugin into the trash and restarted Safari. I repaired permissions. I looked at the plug-ins list in help but that was only confusing since I don't have a clue what any of those control. Getting frustrated and have spent a couple of hours trying to fix this.

  • Sometimes "Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in" which I've installed!?

Although, I already have this plug-in: Microsoft® Windows Media Player. What to do?

Just wondering if anyone can help....I do not have a Mac so am finding it difficult to test.
I have just published an online magazine which was initially in the .dnl file format, which has come to light that mac users cannot view.
To try and resolve this I created an .exe file but it would seem that most mac users cannot view this either as they do not have virtual pc etc... which is required to view the .exe file.
I have now created a PDF version which has satidifed some people on macs temporarily but trying desperately to offer something to mac users I thought I had the answer, by uploading the magazine to a browser so it does not require downloading.....but:
The first person to try it out for me got: Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in and on trying to obtain one it could not find one.
I really thought it would work as you do not need the .dnl reader until you try to save the book or detach it to view it on screen.
Does anyone know if there is a way to view the content in a web browser????
Any help would be much appreciated as I do not want to leave the Mac users out.
Here is the link incase anyone fancies trying it for me....any feedback would be appreciated.

  • Safari Cannot find Server

    hi all,
just purchased a new macbook a few days ago and i have found that when i am trying to access certain websites i get a message up saying "safari cannot open the followig page as Safari cannot find the server". i have tried emptying cache and reseting safari but it is still happening on a regular basis with different sites. could it be a problem with my internet settings?? i connect via airport to a wireless modem.

    Hello z:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
First, check with your ISP to be sure your settings are correct.
To correct a different problem, I use OpenDNS (free version). That may not address your issue, but it cannot hurt.

  • Safari cannot find the server and question mark in blue square

    Hi
I consistently have problems with safari displaying the message safari cannot find the server. The version I have is 5.1.8 and I installed a security update today (23.3.13) hoping it would solve the problem. After refreshing the page a couple of times or restarting safari everything works as normal but this is an ongoing issue. I also have problems with images loading on sites. They appear as blue squares with question marks. I have tried most things people have said on the net but nothing is working.
    Please help!
    Thanks

    HI aad1612,
Try deleting the safari plist by foloowing these instructions:
    Close Safari
    Open a Finder window
Click on "Go" in the upper status bar
Click and HOLD the alt/option key (Library should appear in the above list)
Keep holding the alt/otion key and click on Library (this will open a new window)
Open the Preference folder (NOT Preference Panes)
    Look for com.apple.Safari.plist
Right mouse client to move this file to trash

  • When I try to install some plugins I get "Can't find Internet Plug-ins folder". Friends with the same machine using the same browser can download just fine.  What gives?

When I try to install a plugin in any browser on my Mac Mini or my MacBook Pro, I get a "Can't find Internet Plug-Ins folder" message.  Other friends with the same machines can install the plugin just fine.  We can't find any reason why the plugin won't install on mine.  Any ideas out there?
    Thanks,

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can only read" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

  • Help! i cannot find internet

i pulled up the moniter and it sed "you are connected to the acsess point, but cannot find internet"
i need fast. please and thank you

Could be a couple of things. Depending on your modem type, you may have an address conflict - I had to change the IP address on the router. Again, depending on your modem and connection type, you may need to bridge your modem. If you haven't contacted your ISP's support people, I would make that my next step. They know best the ins and outs of the modem that their service uses -or at least they should. Good luck!

  • Safari cannot find mail.app

I'm running Safari 5.1.4, and Mail 5.2 on a system running OS 10.7.3.
I am trying to send a link to a page from safari using CMD+SHIFT+I. When I attempt to do that, I receive a message that Safari cannot find an email application. I checked Mail's preferences, and it is listed as the default mail application.
Any ideas on how to get Safari to find Mail?

You need to reset the LaunchServices database.
Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Copy or drag – don't type – the text below into the Terminal window:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain user
That's all one line, though it will scroll on this page. Triple-click anywhere in the text to select it all.
Press return. Log out, then log back in.

  • Mac connected to PC network but Safari cannot connect internet

    Hello there,
I using a PC (windows XP) to connect to internet Via a wireless modem router (Belkin54g).
I have successfuly connected my Mac (G5 Dual 2Ghz)to the wireless router Via an an airport Xtreme card in the Mac. the airport card can find the network but I cannot get internet conection with safari!!! what settings should I change or what procedure should I follow to sort this out?? Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated...
    regards,
    Nimo

You could try the Network named System Preference control pane to see
if you can change the settings your machine has for wireless and other
network access to facilitate making the proper connection to your wi-fi base.
Depending on what kind of network you have available, your Mac should
just see it; but there are rare occurrences where some brands of base
station act oddly with AirPort cards. Usually they just work, once the
settings are configured correctly for your setup.
    Do you see an active Airport icon in the menubar? That's a start if you do;
but that won't mean anything if your Network panel settings have Airport
ignored in favor of, say Ethernet or maybe a dialup modem, etc. Or if
you don't have the setting to Automatic for Airport; and that's why a view
into those Network panel settings and options is important.
Many users near an open wireless frequency find the Airport just works
when they first run a new Macintosh. My brother was getting all of his
neighbor's listings in his wireless Macs; some finally set up WPA or other
network protections. He fine-tuned his for that neighborhood so it would
be first in his own access to the internet; and he sees it by name in the
AirPort menubar tool and in the Network panel settings; like I have mine.
There are several details involved here, none should be difficult. Best of
luck in your quest; and if this was a bit helpful, you are welcome.

I have loaded and reloaded this soft ware twice with the same results. Anyone have a solution to this. With the older versions I did not have any error messages.

As your iTunes program has changed, you may need to update your firewall settings to allow the new versions of iTunes and Quicktme to access the internet.

  • Cannot find Internet Connect Icon

    I am using Leopard 10.5.4.
I want to setup a VPN connection and found an article which describes how to go about setting the VPN connection. But it uses Internet Connect icon and according to the article it is found in the 'Applications' folder. I cannot find the 'Internet Connect' icon in Applications.
    Please can someone help ?
    Zapp

Internet Connect has (thankfully) been removed from Leopard. You can now set up a VPN with the Network Preferences. Click on the + icon below the list of network services to get a window with popup menu that has VPN as one of the interface choices.
