Safari cant download file

Epub file of 722.73kb, its just a book, but everytime i try to download anything on here it says safari cannt download the file!! What am i doing wrong?

Safari has always done this. Maybe in the past you had a third-party application installed that did this for Safari.

For more immediate action, have a search around www.macupdate.com or www.versiontracker.com to see if such an 'extension' exists to force Safari to prompt on download. (Bear in mind these kind of things can be sensitive to the version of Safari they're used with, so if Safari starts crashing down the line they would be the primary suspects to remove)

I think you are trying to install a computer application to use on an iPad. You can't. They are incompatible pieces of hardware. If you want Family Tree Maker for your iPad, then you need to get that version, if it exists, from the iTunes Store. That download can't be done via Safari.

The Firefox browser doesn't run on the iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch. There is a Firefox Home app, but it isn't a browser.

When downloading, why do I get a message saying "Safari cant open file because the file has moved since it was downloaded?" I just attempted to download the file from a website. Thanks.

After posting I see this question has the tag of "windows". I don't know if this applies to the Windows version or not.
The only time I see this message is if I download something, trash it, AND empty the trash. If I don't empty the trash, it finds it there. It will find it wherever I move it to, unless it is was in the trash and emptied.
Using Finder, is the downloaded file in your Downloads folder?
Maybe if you go to Safari/Preferences/General and change the location for downloads to something else then change it back to Downloads it might correct it.

I am trying to find a bank program that let's me run a budget and check register. I am trying to download a qif file to import my bank information but I get an errorbthat says safari can not download that type of file

Just a theory but I think it holds some water, you can't download the file because you don't have an app that will let you save the file to on the iPad. I think that makes sense. I just downloaded a .qif from my bank site as a test and I was able to open the file in DropBox - not in any useful way - but I was able to save the downloaded file. My point is that if you choose one the apps the Dah-Veed has suggested to you, then you should be able to download the file if they work with the .qif format and I will trust Dah-Veed on that point.
If there is no app that can handle the file on your iPad, you more than likely cannot download the file and that's why you get the message. You are "putting the cart before the horse" by trying to download the file.

I assume you don't have a backup on an external HD. You always should, because then you could easily fix your problem.

Correct, Safari can not be used to download files on the iPad. Also a Mac based game will not work on an iPad. Any available Apps for the iPad need to be downloaded from the App Store.

I have always been downloading files and stuff form the internet, but recently when i try to download things it seems that the URL refreshes but nothing is downloaded? Could I have inadvertently changed some crucial setting? help!

I lived in Australia for 2 years. Strangest day there was my first July 4th, which is just another day in Oz. All I could think about was the festivities/fireworks I was missing. Good to think of this day as an Interdependence Day - hopefully that's the direction countries around the world are moving towards.

Files are not downloaded in Safari as they might be on a regular computer. Only PDF files can be opened and saved to iBooks.
Files are usually copied to the iPad via a sync or the file sharing feature of specific apps on the iPad and iTunes on the computer.
What kind of file are you trying to get to your iPad and what app on the iPad will you use with that file?

Ipod nano 6th gen cant download files into it anymore

So i try to download podcasts and music but it wont let me anymore, it says a file is missing.

Connect it to your computer. Click on the name of your iPod under DEVICES in the far left frame. Move to the Summary tab to your right and click on "Manually Manage My Music".
You will have to manually drag your music/podcasts from iTunes to your iPod and you will have to manually eject your iPod when you are through syncing.
