Safari Confusion! Please Help!
Certain websites that I have been able to view in the past no longer work on my iphone. I keep trying to remedy the situation by deleting my browsing history. However, when I go to settings>safari>Clear History, Clear Cookies, Clear Cache and click them, I don't think it is deleteing my history. Because when I go to type in web-sites they appear before I am finished typing in the full address.
Any suggestions???
Are those sites by chance in bookmarks on the phone? If so, that is why they will show up when typing.
As for why you cannot access sites now though...not sure.

I have installed the new up to date itunes which i can open on my PC, however when i connect my ipad or iphone i get an error saying i cannot use the device as the require software isn't installed?? I'm very confused please help......
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
I downloaded a song on iTunes, it won't play (it's name is grey), it shows up in purchased and says "play", but it won't play, I can't delete it, and I can't re-download it.....this is confusing please help!!

Songs appear to be missing
Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) might not appear in iCloud, or might appear grayed out. This can occur if your computer is not authorized to play that content. Try authorizing your computer, then manually update iTunes Match. To determine what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized for to play a specific song:
Locate and select the song in your iTunes library.
Choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, locate the Account Name field in the right column. Write it down.
Click OK.
Choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and enter its password. Click Authorize.
Choose Store > Update iTunes Match.

This resolved my problem
I checked and my Firefox is doing (or not doing in this case) the same thing. There seems to be a problem with the Snow Leopard and the Adobe browser plugin. I was able to get Firefox working again by going to Firefox > Preferences > Applications and switching all to Adobe settings to "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the plugin. Then I went to Tools > Add-ons... > Plugins and disabled the Acrobat plugin. Restarted Firefox and now pdf worked. -
Hello. I have an Ipad 3 and I have installed the facebook app for ipad. Though I'm online, I appear offline to my friends. And, there is no chat bar when I log in via safari! Please Help!
I believe the Facebook App requires (or at least it did in the past) the screen to be rotated to Landscape to access/enable chat functions/enable online status (I believe at the bottom-right of the screen). You need to set your online status to available (or whatever their terminology is) to have other people see your online status and availability to chat.

My mum has upgraded to the iPhone 5, she has given me her 4S with a new contract etc. the problem is all her contacts are still on here and calendar dates etc . All from her iCloud account. I have my own account but I don't know how to get my phone on that without deleting her iCloud account entirely and from all devices and her new phone. Please help, I'm probably confusing things more but I really need some help
Just delete her iCloud account from (now) your iPhone 4s - doing so will delete it from your phone and your phone only. It will do nothing to any of her devices with her iCloud account set up on them.
Then login in with your iCloud account login to set up your iCloud account on that iPhone 4S.
If you want to set up the iPhone 4s with a clean slate, just delete her iCloud account, then go into general settings, under the reset tab and select "erase all content and settings". Then run through the activation and setup dialogues with your own information. -
A php script works in IE but not in safari .. please help
The following php works in internet explorer but not in safari or chrome .
In IE all files are saved in specified folder .
But in safari , xml portion works .. that is myxml.xml is saved in 'uploads/'.$temp directory ... but uploaded files are not saved in the given folder ..instead they are saved in 'uploads' folder .... not in 'uploads/'.$temp folder or 'uploads/'.$temp.'/image/' folder ...

I am new and learning. I build a website and online the CSS works fine with IE (windows), but Firefox( windows,mac) and Safari (mac) are not using the css. I did run the browser compatibility check in Dreamweaver and says it's ok, not issues.
Checking the mozillaezine I saw people reporting the same issue and the members of that forum are saying that it happens because the "doctype declaration" used is not standard. They say "Make sure you use a DOCTYPE that causes the page to be rendered in standard mode in all browsers".
sounds good, but I have no idea about it, I don't know if I can use the declaration they are advising or not, I am learning this thing trial/error basis I guess.
I did use a Dreamweaver template to create my template page - the doctype declaration was there - . I did use my template page then to develop the site. the declaration I am using is :

I FIXED!
After surfing on the net as crasy, I found the problem and the solution.
It's a server configuration problem. My website is hosted at mobile.me (Apple) my server reports itself as "AppleIDiskServer-1D2305".
in which CSS is ignored when viewed from the production server, but works fine locally. This is usually caused by a misconfiguration of the server and is not a browser bug.
I fixed the problem as follows
1. Login to me.com and go to iDisk
2. Compress all the css/html files into an archive using the gears menu in the online interface.
3. Delete the original files.
4. Decompress the files and move them from the decompressed archive to their original spot.
I did this and it did correct the mime type so now the site displays with formatting via the external stylesheet.

My "software updates" are up to date. However, every website I go to, there's a notice that says I need to update my browser. I follow the options to download Safari on Apple, and it leads me to a page about software updates. (ie; click on the apple, then "software update..") It's frustrating because on some sites it barely loads anything anymore. Please help. Thank you.
You need to upgrade the OS or switch to a product such as Firefox.
To upgrade from 10.4 or 10.5, buy a retail Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.
To upgrade from 10.6, your computer needs to have at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM. Download Yosemite from the Mac App Store, or buy a download code for Lion from the online Apple Store.

I tried lot of things and i still having the problem, the page doesnt get open, just loading, and if i want to see one youtube video in other page i still cant, the video is black.
I can saw all other videos in other format or in other site, but simply i cant open YOUTUBE! please helpI don't have the problem, but some users have reported a conflict while using Firefox. I know you've tried a variety of browsers, but an updated Safari might offer success. If not, the most frequent issue relates to buffering problems. Your success may vary with your connection speed.
It bothered me when you wrote that you can't open other websites with your browser, either. Or is your problem isolated to Youtube?
In either case, I'd be most obliged if you could post here with your results. -
I'm having major issues with Safari recently on my PowerBook. I can open Safari normally but after I go to sites I frequent regularly, including the discussions Safari starts to act like it has lost network connection and won't go to any websites at all. I'm forced to Quit, but then Safari starts to become unresponsive and I'm left with no options except a "Foce Quit". This started happening today out of the clear blue. Safari still works perfect on my iMac (at least so far). I have repaired permissions before and after the update I made the other day. One thing I have noticed on the Activity Monitor is that Safir seems to be totally hogging CPU usage and memory even on basic sites such as this discussion forum. I have unchecked the box next to "Warn when visiting a fraudulent website" Since I'm not near my iMac at this time this message was posted in Firefox on my PowerBook

Please help me, and thank you.I have the exact same problem using safari 3.2.1 on my Powerbook and on my iMac.
No such problem using Firefox, which is what I am using right now.
Therefore, a bug must be in "fraudulent sites". Also - this just happened - in preferences/fraudulent sites, it states "the Google Safe Browsing Services is unavailable. No updates have occurred in 2 says".
I wonder if there is a connection between these two issues? If so, it is not a good idea making an application's stability dependent on external web site functionality. -
Thanks for reading this far... I get a black PDF in Safari and sometimes a reinstall Adobe message. I trashed Adobe Reader and got PDFpen 6. However, I still get the black PDF's What do I do? Please help?

In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -

A modem is a small unit that converts either a cable or a phone signal to something that your computer can use. When you subscribe to a high-speed internet connection, the provider (eg, Verizon, Optimum, Road Runner) includes a modem with the package. It plugs into either your cable line or your phone line, and your computer (or wired router or wireless base station) plugs into it.
Your wireless card will only give you connection to the internet if you're in range of a wireless network. It's not like a cellphone where you can basically get service anywhere. For example, you can go to wi-fi cafes and get an internet connection (sometimes free, sometimes charged), but you usually can't stand in the middle of the street and connect to a public network (although some cities do have areas of public wifi, such as parks).
My recommendation is to check with your college to see what they offer in terms of internet connections.

I was able to text my friend to her number but now that I have updated my iPhone it shows that it's an iMessage when I text her to the same number, I know that with iMessages you have to turn on your Internet but I'm texting her to her same number so it shouldn't be an iMessage. Can someone please help?

I've had the same problem, and with the help of this forum have resolved it. Here's the simple summary, condensed from Hogster's description of his troubleshooting in response to other posters' suggestions.
In your home,
Go to Library/Caches.
Probably you will discover that the Safari folder in there has a little padlock on the icon, indicating it is locked. This may have been done by Safari Enhancer or something else, to prevent caching and speed things up. But it interferes with certain uploading processes (my troubles were always with uploading photos to photo websites).
Select the Safari folder (inside ~/Library/Caches), and hit Apple-I (for GetInfo). Uncheck the "Locked" checkbox.
Problem should be solved! I did not find it necessary to logout and back in. Simply unchecking that one box was a complete fix for a problem that had been nagging me for months!
