Safari Constantly Stops Responding

This usually happens when I'm trying to fill in a text box on a site, either with keychain or manually. Safari stops responding, but there's no beachball or any indication that it's frozen. You can't do anything with the program, and maybe 10 minutes later the program starts responding to the commands you issue it. Has anyone else had this issue?

mleung,
Welcome to Apple Discussions !
Do these & report back, OK ?
1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
2. Trash your Icons Folder:
HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
3. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
If you're still having problems:
4. Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.
5. Do you have internet apps SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer ? Or Norton or Virex? Sometimes non-apple internet apps need updating or uninstalling. If you do, let us know which ones and which version, please.
Hope this helps

  • TS1398 safari server stopped responding. How do I get it started again?

When trying to access the web all I get is the message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". What is the solution?

I have a related issue (I think, hard to know for sure from the short frustrated post above).
Since the last update of iTunes (11.0.5), it kind of freezes while checking for and downloading new podcasts. Processor load goes to 100% (sometimes above! figure from Swedish OSX "Aktivitetskontroll" which I can imagine is something like "Activity Control" or "Activity Manager" in English OSX) and stays there for a few minutes, 3-5 minutes is common. During that time the mouse pointer turns into a spinning ball when moved above iTunes. Other apps work ok meanwhile. (Four processors)
Have a fixed connection to the internet, which I have tested while iTunes is frozen. We acheive above 100 Mbit/s downstream, 20 Mbit/s upstream, so the connection shouldn't be the problem.
Any ideas on what to do?

  • Applications constantly stop responding in osx lion

using a 27" imac purchased in 2010, upgraded to lion about a month ago
just in the last 3 days i can barely use my computer as all applications eventually stop responding, and i'm left with the colour wheel
i keep activity monitor open all the time now and nothing seems unusual, though when an application stops resonding i can't use activity monitor to force quit it, and i can't access force quit from the menu bar (even if finder is still responding) - it never opens
the only way i can fix this is with a hard boot, and after turning my computer back on the same problem occurs again pretty quickly anyway
my computer's been running fine up until this, although ever since i installed lion i've noticed it's been running much slower
i dunno whether to blame lion or what, i'm not sure if it's hardware or software please help!

can i go back to a previous version of os x after having installed lion without losing my files?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac%2F10.5%2Fen%2F8177.html
when i start up in recovery mode i can't do anything cuz it fails to respond and i get the spinning wheel again, so i figure if i use the disc i got with my imac then it might be more inclined to respond as it's an actual hard disc

  • Safari server stopped responding

I don't know what happen my iPad. I can't use safari and their left message safari server stopping responding

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then restart your iPad.  Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
You will have to re enter the Wi-Fi network password.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
And restart your iPad one more time.

  • Why does Firefox stop responding?

Ever since firefox updated (version 3.1.0) it constantly stops responding. This especially happens when attempting to view a video or pop-up image on sites such as Facebook, The Chive, Youtube, etc. The browser stops responding about every 10 seconds then seems fine after about 40 seconds. This repeats for viewing most videos or pop-ups.
Things I have already tried that has no apparent effect:
    Updated Flash to latest version.
    Updated Java to latest version.
    Disabled all Add-Ons.
Set all Plug-Ins to "Ask to Activate".
    Uninstalled custom theme.
    Renamed File: places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old.
    Any help is appreciated.

As if my original issue was not enough, since the last Firefox update (09-20-14), now my FF completely crashes and gives me the same connection issue error as if I had no ISP at all.
"Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.
Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
Funny thing is, this complete crash thing happens on all three of my comps since installing the latest FF update. IE and Chrome function without issue. My ISP connection is good and no firewall.
I have completely uninstalled FF, deleted all Mozilla/FF folders, cleaned all temp files/cookies, ran a registry cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled FF.
Still have both issues. The only difference is that now I have zero add-ons and have lost all of my saved passwords. I have been using FF for years and have never encountered such a mess.

  • Safari stops responding when I try to bookmark (and other slow problems!)

Two weeks ago my logicboard died, so I sent my ibook out to Apple for it to be fixed. Ever since I got it back this past Tuesday, my Safari has been extremely slow, but nothing else is wrong with my computer. Here are the problems:
    - The biggest issue is that Safari stops responding when I try to make a bookmark. The popup appears to select the bookmark's destination and to enter the name, but when you hit ok, the rainbow wheel comes up and it stops responding, so I have to reset Safari, and now I can't make new bookmarks at all.
    - It lags when it tries to open new windows, especially new tabs.
    - If a new page loads that scrolls at all, and then I try to scroll down, the wheel appears for several seconds until it can load the rest of the page. It's as though it gets stuck before it can scroll.
    - Sometimes when typing, it will also start to lag behind my typing speed, or if I try to click on a new field, it will not immediately allow me to type on occasion.
All these things have never happened before I sent it out. I have reset my cache, and I have tried entering the open DNS addresses in my networks, which has improved loading speed, but hasn't fixed any of these problems. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how I can fix anything?

    Try verifying the hard disk.
Boot from your restore disk while holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo, then let go of the C key. You'll see an Installation window, select English. From the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, then click Verify. If DU reports errors, click Repair. If Disk Utility cannot repair the disk you have several options. One is DiskWarrior or
TechToolPro If Disk Utility can repair any errors, go back to the Menu Bar, click Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
If you don't have a restore disk, try booting into Safe Mode

  • TS1398 my problem is my iphone 4s is connected to the internet(wi-fi) with full signal strength but freezes when browsing and says "Cannot Open Page, Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding".

my problem is my iphone 4s is connected to wi-fi with full signal(3 bars) strength but freezes when browsing and says
    "Cannot Open Page"
"Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding"
I already reset the iphone to its factory settings and erase all contents but still the browsing speed freezes or not searching at all. Sometimes it will work and fast but then the problem uccors every now and then. Iv'e been using iphone 4 for two years and I still have it and works fine compared to this IPHONE 4S.

Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
    Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network

  • Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding

"Could Not Open Page.... Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding"
....but it could worked just fine for the first 2 weeks of iPhone4 ownership.
WiFi network at home, working fine with MacBook, visiting friends' phones, my new iPhone4 - no problems. Had to power down the modem & router very briefly last night. Rebooted, MacBook connected fine, iPhone doesn't - it goes through the motions - shows all signs of full connection, full signal, password accepted etc etc - but web pages will not open, displaying after 30 secs the warning message above.
Tried at work on another wireless network - same response.
Have gone through all the FAQs, reset network settings, forgotten network etc - still nothing.
Anyone experienced the same and fixed it?
    cheers

I'm having a very similar problem, but it's with my 3G connection, not with wifi. The display tells me there is 3G connectivity, and I get the loading symbol, but pages stop loading a few seconds after I try to open them, and some time later I get the "server stopped responding" message. That happens with addresses I know are working, such as Google. Some times, restarting the iPhone or the internet connection (by switching plane mode on and off) solves the issue, but it has been happening often these days.

Am not able to use facebook on my Iphone 4, softwareversion:iOS7.1, also tried to access through safari and chrome that i have installed it gives an error message saying: "safari could not open the page because server stopped responding", i tried network reset, reset the whole device, rebooting , changing airplane mode rebooting nothing fix the issue, but i can access other sites and google , am using Vodafone as my carrier with 2g network, when at home able to access facebook.com through wifi in safari requesting assistance thank you

If you can access Facebook while on Wifi at home, but you are unable to access it while away running on your carrier's 2G network, I could phone your carrier.  You have already completed the Cellular Data troubleshooting for the iPhone, so any limitations keeping your from connecting to Facebook over cellular will have to be answered by your carrier.
