Safari cookie problem 10.5.6

Safari cookies reset after reboot (10.5.6)
Hello my friends, on my Macbook (alluminium 2.4ghz) i have a big problem with Safari.
Every time i reboot the machine , i will loose all the cookies, and so all the Login information of all the websites. Every time i reboot i must spend minutes and minutes to make the login on all the websites. It is really frustrating.
I have double checked all the settings, i have cleaned history, cache and all... i have check the Disk permission .. but the bug still remains .
now i have really no idea on what i can do ! , i am downloading Firefox, because i really can't use safari and every time i reboot spend several time to do the login.

To me it is not after every Reboot but every couple minutes (!!) while the browser is running! Basically while I am on a site and e.g. writing a forum post or whatnot, somehow safari looses the relevant cookie data and I am no longer logged in authenticated. Happens with every site that relies on cookies.
Filed a Webkit Bug (https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23381), but they closed it pointing towards the CFNetwork framework.
Moreover, googling around reveals that we're not alone and that it HAS something to do with the latest 10.5.6 safari update... :-/

  • Safari cookie problem ?

    I have a problem with Safari after switching to Leopard (10.5.1). Several of my financial accounts use that security feature thats makes you choose a photo of an object and answer several questions. Then at logon you enter your ID and then answer the same questions and verify your chosen object photo before being presented with a place to enter your password. The screens also allow you to "register" a computer to the account so that from the registered machine you no longer have to answer the questions. This all worked fine for all my accounts before switching to Leopard. Now that I have switched to 10.5.1 the registration feature does not work. I have to answer all the questions every time. I have tried all Safari security setting related to cookies. This is driving me crazy. Anybody else have the problem ? ..a solution ?

    I hope someone will answer your question soon. I need help with the same problem. *Safari don´t remember passwords anymore.*
    I get the message in Norwegian, but in English it would probably be something like this: Your password has changed, do you want to save the new one etc. I answer yes, but I still get the same question next time I try to log on to the same page.
    I have tried to fix this in different ways: revised all the settings i Safari, repaired the Keychain, reinstalled Safari, deleted the key from the keychain... There must be someone out there that know what to do

  • Cookie problem using safari

    Hi all!
    I seem to have a cookie problem on Safari on my iPhone. This makes that it's very difficult for me to Ise forums, Google Reader, etc. I tried all three settings but apparently Safari doesn't store my cookies.
    Anybody else have this problem? I'm using firmware 1.1.4.
    Thanks,
    Ton.

    The first step you should take is a reset of the phone to potentially clear up the problem. To do this, hold the home button and the top button simultaneously until you see the apple logo. If this doesn't cure the problem, a restore is in order, and this can be accomplished from iTunes. First try a restore from backup. If this doesn't work, you can do a restore to factory from iTunes, which should clear up the problem if the prior steps haven't worked.

  • Sticking Safari cookies but they are not there in Web Inspector

    Hi,
    Now I’ve got the Safari 5.1.10 update (OS X 10.6.8) and still have the same problem as with several versions before, I think it’s even worse now:
    When surfing I’m used to “Safari / Reset Safari…” (with all options set to delete but website icons) to start from scratch from time to time.
    This will delete cookies and local cache, too, although it’s not clearly mentioned (?).
    My start page is google.co.uk and checking with the “Privacy” tab I usually see three items from Google.
    I think that would be OK.
    But:
    a) Sometimes there are still cookies / cache from sites that I have visited before,
    and
    b) Sometimes even after Privacy / “Remove All”
    (Cookies.plist is empty and Safari/LocalStorage folder is deleted now)
    and another Safari “Reset” some will return (e.g wikipedia.org, Local Storage, but also cookies from news or amazon or local storage use by apple.com).
    When I check using the Web Inspector / Resources there are no such elements to find, only from Google - but the “Preferences / Privacy” tab seems to know about them and they are back in Cookies.plist and Safari / LocalStorage ???
    c) Sometimes (I know, that’s bad), even when I reset + close Safari, open an other application, start Safari again - bang, several items (often more than before) are listed there but only Google is to be seen in the Web Inspector (screenshot 1).
    d) After closing the Web Inspector and “Remove All” I start the Web Inspector again, just to see e.g. a “cookie folder” from Google but it’s stating “This site has no cookies” (screenshot 2), and there are none in Safari. How would the Web Inspector know about google cookies (or local storage), only to show an empty “folder”?
    I really love Safari, I’d simply like to “flush” it from time to time when surfing.
    1) Is it my misunderstanding of Safari cookies / cache? Or the Web Inspector’s display?
    2) Why only “sometimes” (this point is most annoying)?
    3) How could I dig deeper (but I’m not a techie ! ), or
    4) Is this a known bug since years (Safari and / or Web Inspector), I didn’t find a similar topic here in the forums?
    Thank you for reading this lengthy and probably confusing stuff,
    Sancho

    @Carolyn:
    Yes, I did search before but restricted it to the past month, because I had the feeling that it’s worse now since the update to 5.1.10, but I may be wrong.
    It seems this is an old and unsolved common problem.
    @andy:
    “Top Sites” is hot, but I’ve never used that funny dots without any mouse-over text.
    After deleting (before starting Safari)  it’s restored by a default TopSites.plist, it seems these cookies
    - are only reloaded when viewing the Top Sites (?)
    - are not among my reappearing cookies, I have never seen such a cookie / cache on my system before (e.g. expedia, orbitz, monster, usatoday, disney, craigslist).
    And Top Sites would not explain why the Web Inspector has different infos regarding use of cookies and local storage than Safari’s “Privacy” tab.
    After playing with deleting TopSites.plist, without surfing, suddenly I have ”121 cookies or other data” at Safari’s Privacy tab, nearly all are listed as “Cache” or “Cache, Cookies” but the Web Inspector doesn’t show any of them, only my google.co.uk items.
    ---> Thanks, I’ll send a feedback to Apple.

  • Cookie problem with this forum?

    Today I am no longer able to connect with this forum with my Safari browser. All I receive in a page with the 6 categories and nothing else. Also, I am not able to log in. However, I can log in using Foxfire with all the topics correctly displayed. I suspect it must be a cookie problem and if that is so, I'm not sure where to go in Safari to delete cookies.

    Same problem is back after only one day. When using Safari (latest version), if I click on the following link...
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=218
    All I see is the Category headings (no latest posts) and I'm NOT automatically signed in. When I attempt to sign in, I then go the the "new user" data page. After signing in, I get very restrictive access to the forum.
    When I sign in with Firefox, everything is normal. Yesterday when I had this problem, I erases the cookies from Safari and everything returned to normal. I hate to have to erase my cookies everyday to get access here as I prefer to use Safari.
    Is this happening to anyone else?

  • Safari cookies are not turned off when blocked

    I delete all Safari cookies and then set preference to ALWAYS BLOCK, but when I later check there are new cookies.  Why?

    This has been the case  for sometime.
    I do not know whether  there is any solution for this problem.
    Best.

  • Is it possible to extract data from a Safari cookie?

    Hello,
    I need to recover a FedEx tracking number that I entered in Safari, and I'm hoping that perchance it was stored somehow in a cookie when I entered the number. It appears that I have a few cookies from FedEx in the list of cookie files on my computer, but I have no idea how to extract anything potentially useful from these files.
    After looking up the package on FedEx.com once, I lost the tracking number. I was shipping most of my clothes and some important books from California to Italy (where I'm working for the summer). Now the package hasn't arrived, and nobody at FedEx in either country will lift a finger without the tracking number. This attempt to recover it from Safari is the absolute last thing I can think of to get the magic number back.
    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks very much,
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian
    For Safari, cookie information is stored in your User Library>Cookies folder. The file is cookies.plist. You can open this file with TextEdit. First open Text Edit in your Applications folder. Then file menu>open and navigate to the file.
    When open, Apple Key + F key to open the "find" feature. Type in FedEx, select find by clicking on the button rather than pressing return so the find panel does not disappear. Continue to select "find" until you've gone through the entire search. Don't know if a specific cookie (there will be several for FedEx) contains the tracking number, however, I guess you'll soon find out.
    Good Luck

    Can't load Netflix - Firefox says something about cookie problem and recommends try again button. ("The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.)" Hit the try again button repeated ly - nothing???

    I decided to give Netflix a call about this problem.
    On a recording while waiting for a support rep, it said if you're having problems logging in to go to:
    http://www.netflix.com/clearcookies
    It works for me. Now I have to logon everytime I go to their site though versus it had kept me already logged in before this problem.
    I will be using that link to get to their site until they get it fixed.

  • Cookie problem in APEX 4.1.1

    After upgrading from APEX 4.1 to 4.1.1 the first time a user visits a particular application they see a line at the top of the page of the form:
    "Set-Cookie: PUBLIC_WWV_CUSTOM-F_1047528391177278_666=1316663583787701; HttpOnly "
    As soon as they refresh the page, the text disappears. I believe this is related to the issue of larger cookie sizes in 4.1.1 that a lot of people seem to be experiencing with NTLM authenthication. However, this is occuring at the login page prior to authentication. There is an application process with a processing point of "On New Instance (new session)" with the following code to create a cookie:
    owa_util.mime_header('text/html', FALSE);
    owa_cookie.send(
    name => 'PPP_SESSSION',
    value => to_char(v('APP_SESSION')),
    domain => '.dooda.com',
    path => '/');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    As soon as I remove that process, the issue goes away. Of course that raises more troublesome issues. :)
    The workaround for the NTLM/cookie problem doesn't seem applicable here. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Am I leaving out any helpful information? (I'm not so familiar with APEX and I don't know jack about web development).
    Thanks for any help.
    Chris

    Chris,
    This is a little bit of a guess here, but can you try removing the line:
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    from your On New Instance process?
    What appears to be happening is APEX is attempting to write the session cookie, but the HTTP headers have already been closed.

  • Safari & JavaScript Problems

    On some websites, I cannot use scripted buttons etc. This is true in all browsers (Safari, Firefox, IE, etc.). I have no problems with my Windows machine. Is there a setting I can change or an add-in that might let me use these sites? I'm not getting any errors in Java, so I'm assuming it's a compatability issue between OSX and the Java being used. Any help would be appreciated because I now have to use my PC to access certain sites (and I have to use them for work).

    This is from my similar Safari problems a few months back. It may apply to your Java problems.
    I confirmed that it's my Tiger Safari failure to handle Java Applets that is giving me troubles. Java scripts are OK.
    Relief, my Safari Java problem is solved. I got the clue to the cause in an Apple discussion, a chap in Germany using Panther had the identical problem.
    The problem was caused by older Internet Plugins contained in my UserID>Library>Internet Plugins.
    These plugins take priority over the Internet Plugins contained in HD>Library>Internet Plugins.
    So removing the duplicate older Internet Plugins from UserID>Library>Internet Plugins corrected the Java applet problem. I had more duplicate Plugins there than the Java ones.
    This happened because when doing a clean install I selected to copy over my UserID from the previous Jaguar system, a logical thing to do to carry my files and settings forward.
    But bringing forward the Internet Plugin Folder is obviously a big problem for those bringing forward their UserID when installing MacOS X.
    Here is a very good site to test your browsers handling of Java Scripts and Applets.

  • Safari/DSL Problem

    Safari/DSL Problem
    I’m having a problem with my home DSL network when I hookup a 5.8 GHz digital cordless phone/answering system. Safari will not pull up my home page when I plug in the answering system my SBC DSL network stops functioning. My Mac network consists of an E-Mac running OS 10.3.9 hard wired thru Ethernet cable to an Asante FR1004 Internet router. Also connected to the Asante Router is the Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. The Asante Router is hooked up to the SBC to Speedstream 5100 Ethernet ADSL Modem, which is hard wired to the phone line. I have 3 phones hooked to the phone line each phone has a DSL Filter model Z-330P2J. Any would be appreciated.

    Hi ccrushe, Welcome to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
    1] The answering system must have a DSL Filter on it.
    2] Move the answering system to a different room, ie, away from the computer.
    Try BBR, Broadband Reports / SBC general Forum, or ATM = All Things Mac.
    Good Luck. JP

    Consider TenFourFox. It is a port of a later version of FireFox that was never coded for PowerPC Macs. Sites see it as a fairly recent version of FireFox. What TFF does not fix is web video content that was never optimized for PowerPC, and the current version of TFF does not suport plug-ins so Flash video is out.
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
    I'm using it on a G4 MDD 1.25Ghz minitower with architecture similar later PowerBooks and it keeps that computer on the web for many tasks. It has become the "go to" browser for most people here who still like to use their pre-Intel Macs.
