Safari Cookies and Google

Hi!
I'm having problems signing in to my Gmail and Blogger account, when I try to log in I get this error: "Oops! Your browser seems to have cookies disabled. Make sure cookies are enabled or try opening a new browser window. " This is fairly recent, has only been happening for a month or so. And I have checked my cookies in Preferences, they are enabled. I have cleared cookies and cache and nothing has changed.
Safari version: 5.0.2
Mac Os X version: 10.6.6
Could anyone help with ideas of how to fix this? Thank you!

Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy then click Details.
Type Google in the search field top right corner of that window then click Remove or Remove All.
Ditto for Blogger.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, go to ~/Library/Cookies. Move the Cookies.plist file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try Gmail and Blogger again.
You are aware that you can update your OS X software to v10.6.8?
If not, click Software Update from your Apple  drop down menu.

  • I can open Safari, Finder and Google Chrome ( my default browser) but they do not display on my iMac.  Evidently they are minimized somewhere but I can't figure out how to maximize them.  This has been a problem ever since I down loaded Mavericks.

When I open Safari, Finder or Google Chrome (my default browser) they do not displayanywhere on my iMac.
Tthey are minimized somewhere but  how can to maximize them.
I can't say for sure this is related to Mavericks but the problem began shortly after dowloading Mavs.
    Any suggested fix?

Hope the following helps to make things clearer.
When I left click Safari or Google Chrome in my Dock, neither expands.  When I then right click wither one in teh Dock, a dialog box pops up  which gives me the option to close them, which implies that they are in fact open.
In other words, when I left click on Safari or Chrome in my Dock, nothing visibly changes on my Desktop.  Indeed, neither Safari not Chrome are listed as the active window in the menu bar.  If I do the same with Finder, at least Finder shows up as active in the menu bar but that's all.  Finder itsef is not accessible and so I cannot  use it.
On the other hand, I ahve no problem opening up Paralles 9 for Mac to access Windows/Explorer which is what I have done to send this note to teh Apple Communities Forum.  Nor do I ahve a problem opening up any of my other programssuch as Office for Mac, etc.
I suspect this may be mavericks related but can't say for sure.
Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Safari Reset and Google

I've come across a peculiar problem that I haven't been able to solve.
After resetting safari to clear history and cache results in google it works fine for about a day. The next day, I'll test it and search for the same term, and the results shows again with the date grayed on the right side and the amount of visits. Cache and history is cleared OK, just not the search results and the google hierarchy. I use the same term occasionally to check the ranking of my business and I have to clear and reset safari to check on this.
Any ideas? Is it just mine or is anyone else having the same problems? All software is up to date. Using Safari 5.0.2 but I think it's been like this for several versions of Safari now.

    HI,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences and select the Autofill tab.
Click the Edit button next to: *Other forms*
    Select: Google.com
    Click: Remove
Quit Safari. (Command + Q) Relaunch Safari.

  • Safari 5 and Google Problem

I am using Safari 5.0.1. I go to: http://www.google.com/ and type in my search. I get a list of hits and my search query (keywords used in the search) shows up in the box - all normal. The problem is that if I hit on one of the links and then hit the back button to return to my search results, my query is no longer in the box at the top. My search results are all still there, but the keywords I originally entered are not (just a blank box). Thank you.

    Hey,
I have not exactly the same but a very similar problem with Snow Leopard and Safari 5.1.4.  When I use google.com and then enter a search query I come to the list of results. When I click on any item and go back (arrows on the top left) everything is fine here. When I specify then my search query by adding something and repeat the procedure everything works fine as well, but here comes the issue:
    - Starting from any webpage
    - typing into the Safari search bar on the top right my search query
    - specifying my search query by adding something into the html search bar on google's results page
    - clicking on any item and then going back to the results list
    - then the search bar of google just shows the original search query written into Safari's search bar on the top right.
Sorry, that was complicated to explain ;-).
I don't have that problem with Google Chrome or Firefox. I have tried what Carolyn suggested but it didn't fix the bug.
    Thanks for any further support!

  • I can't sign into my Youtube account on Firefox, but it works fine on Safari and Google Chrome. Deleting my web history, cookies, and etc didn't help. PLZ HELP!

I click on sign in on Youtube.com and it takes me to the sign in page. I enter my information (correctly, duh) and then I am returned to the Youtube home page. I try to click Sign in again and the page is just refreshed. My account still exists bc I can reach it on Safari and Google Chrome, but I don't want to have to switch browsers. By the way the cookies ARE enabled, so Idk what the problem is.

hello, please also make sure that in particular youtube.com & accounts.google.com are allowed to set cookies (at least for the session)...

  • Problem with javascript cookies and frames in Safari

I have a web page with 2 frames in it. One frame holds a pulldown menu for quick navigation, which changes the content in the other frame and also writes a cookie that makes that choice the default when the user comes back to the web page. My problem is that when the page that has the navigation is in frames it will not change the cookie when the navigation choice is changed. It will only change the cookie if the navigation page is displayed on its own web page (not in frames). The javascript works fine in both FireFox and Google Chrome. It's only Safari that has this problem. Is this a bug in Safari, or do I need to code this differently? I also tried putting the javascript function in the main index.html page that sets up the frames, but that didn't help either.

  • Cookies, Zotero and Google Scholar

Looks like there is some issue with Safari and Google Scholar and cookies.
I've been unable to use Google Scholar with Zotero--a reference manager--as have other people I know.
When I try to save a setting in Google Scholar, it does not do so, even though cookies are turned on, privacy settings are low etc.
There seems to be some issue with Safari then I think in terms of saving cookies particularly around Google Scholar. I've cleared history, website data and tried from scratch to no avail.

And it looks to be Mac-specific--this issue is not happening with PCs.

  • I can't access to Youtube and Google Maps with Safari

    Hello,
I've a MacBook Pro and I can't go to Youtube and Google Maps with Safari. I've also tried with Firefox but the problem is still not solved.
Actually, Safari (or Firefox) keeps charging the page but is unable to get it. I always see a blank page. It only happens with these two websites. Other sites are working perfectly.
I've tried so many things like installing the flash, erasing cookies or cache, installing updates but nothing helped. This is really annoying. Just to give you an example, if I try to localize my MacBook I just can't see where it is as the map is not appearing.
    Can you help me?
    Thank you!
    Mac OS X 10.7.4
    Safari 5.1.7

    Hi CMCSK!
    Thanks for your answer.
I bought my Mac in August 2011. In the first weeks, I couldn't see YouTube videos which was normal as the flash wasn't installed. I therefore installed the latest version of Abode's flash and it worked well. But maybe 1 month or more later, I don't know what happened: it began difficult or even impossible to load YouTube website. I first thought this was a problem with Safari. I downloaded Firefox but the problem remained the same: impossible to go to YouTube. I followed the instructions to uninstall the flash and to install it again. Nothing helped. I waited for an update for Safari but it didn't solve my problem.
As I've already said, the browser (Safari or Firefox) keeps loading the page and after 1 or 2 minutes I see "Safari can't open the page because the server where this page is located isn't responding".
    To come back to this:
if I try to localize my MacBook I just can't see where it is as the map is not appearing.
Well I wanted to give you an example of the problem itself (with Google Maps here). If I go to iCloud and try to localize my Mac, I can see the green circle but the map is not loaded. I don't know why it isn't working. Whenever there is a Google Map on a website (e.g. a restaurant giving its localization with a small Google Map) I can't see it. I only see a light grey background with question marks everywhere. I also see this grey background when I go to the website of Google.
I hope you see more what the problem is.
    Thank you

  • I cannot access the internet, I tried to answer that said to go to settings, safari, tap clear history, cookies and cache, cut off, then on, but it did not work.  When I go to internet the screen is grey??? please help I am a new user!!

I cannot access the internet the screen is grey, I have tried by using the answer from someone but it does not work...I went to settings, tap safari, then clear the history, cookies, and cache, then turn off ipad.  When I did that twice, it did not work.  How long does it take for the clear history to work?  I am a brand new
user of the ipad2 and I am disappointed that this is happening already.

Have you been able to access the internet previously and now it's suddenly not working, or are you still trying to access the internet for the first time on your iPad?  Are you at home trying to connect through your home router?  If you are at home, did you put your home routers encryption code as your password?  The encryption code is what your iPad is looking for and it is usually found on the router and is typically a 13 digit combination of letters and numbers.  Let us know......

  • Safari and Google Maps are useless

Safari and Google Maps invariably quit and return to the home screen. They are essentially useless. I tried to empty the cache and history...no luck. I then tried a reset and when it restarted got a message to please connect to iTunes. iTunes told me my phone needed to be restored. A progress bar indicated it was extracting some software and then it was preparing the iPhone for restoration. After some time I got an unknown error message (1603) that said it was unable to restore. I am looking at it as it sits uselessly in the dock with nothing but the apple icon showing. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have a solution? Should I just return it to the Apple Store.

MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

James, I'm sorry to say buddy, but you might just have a defective product. If restoring doesn't work there really isn't much more you could do. You can ether wait for the next update, and hope that would fix it, or just take it back to the store and exchange it. You have 30 days from the day of purchase to return the item. Thats my recommendation. GL

  • Safari and google plus site issues.

Safari and google plus crashes when I go to the google plus website, but it works with my other browser apps. Help? I am using the mac retina display.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • I want to empty the Safari cache in OS 10.8.5, but cannot find the cache in the drop down menus. Where is it? Or do I go to preferences-privacy and select remove all cookies and website data?

I received a 'bogus' email saying I had a virus and to click to scan my entire OS. I did not click - I trashed the email.
I wanted to empty my cache but couldn't find it (OS 8.10.8.5) -- In the main menu, under Safari, the only thing I found was to select preferences, then privacy -- where a window showed an option of removing some or all cookies and other website data.
Is that what I should do or is there a cache somewhere on the laptop?
    Thanks

You were scammed. There's nothing wrong with your computer. You don't need to empty the cache.

If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.
