Safari Crashes on Apple Support Site
Using Tiger, Safari 2.0, when I try to enter the support section of the Apple.com site, Safari crashes. And on certain sites, I get the helvetica fractions fonts all over the place. I have looked at the html of some of these sites.
They may not be completly conforming to W3c standards, but you cannot expect just some ho-hum dudes on homestead to completly meet standards. As long as it isnt a security issue, a well designed browser should be able to see html my teenage daughter put together on Xanga without freaking out.
Quit blaming the websites, and design a useable browser.
IE may not have been the bomb, but it sure worked(s).

Since Safari is not crashing for me (or any other poster, to my knowledge) when entering the support section of Apple's web site, it would appear that your premise that the crash you are experiencing is a Safari problem is incorrect.
Since you seem to be having a font issue, have you tried to eliminate duplicate or corrupt fonts in your font book? Have you reset Safari, trashed the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist), and cleared the cache?

Safari crashing on certain web sites
My friends' iMac G4, running OS 10.3.9 has started acting strangely including Safari crashing on certain web sites. I had them clean out the cache, remove the cookies, delete the history and run disk utility--things they never did on their own. But the problem has persisted. I plan on having them reset safari and trash the safari preferences but I'm concerned it may be more of a system wide problem rahter than a problem with safari alone. They did email me the crash log, could someone comment on this and determine if it helps point to the root cause of the problem. Incidently I also plan on running disk warrior when I get over there in the near future. Here is the crash log...

I would guess that the web sites causing problems use javascript. It is strange that javascript should crash straight away, so I'm wondering it they have the correct version for 10.3.9?
There isn't an easy way to access this information except via Terminal (or Property List Editor if you have Developer tools installed). Here's the command you need, although I can see it will be tricky for you to copy and paste this command into another machine (you could always log on from that I suppose).
defaults read /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/JavaScriptCor e.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info CFBundleVersion(that's all one line, by the way).
In 10.3.9, the version I have is 312.3.2, while in 10.4.10 I have 418.6.1.
If what you get from this is nonsense, I think you would be looking at an Archive & Install. An alternative would be to rerun the 10.3.9 Combo Update and the Security Updates that followed that, and then make sure to re-run the "SafariUpdate1.3.1.pkg 18/8/2005" and the "SafariUpdate1.3.2.pkg 5/1/2006" because both of those updated JavaScriptCore. -
My ipod touch has been disabled for 212,456,875 minutes! I have followed all instructions on the apple support site to restore it but this has not worked. Help!
Without know exactly what you did or what happened:
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
My Ipod shuffle appears in itunes on mac but not on windows 7 even though we have the latest update of itunes. We have also tried the other solutions on the apple support site.

My iPhone 4 is using 4.3.3 and I want to update to iSO 6.1. I can back it up and it starts to download it through iTunes but then I get an error message 0xE8000067.
Tried all the things on the apple support site (checked USB port, deleted the 3 exe files in Task Manager, tried a new cable). None worked. Got the same message on my old computer.

My mini ipod appears off and not respond to any commands when pressed the buttons to reset, apple logo appeared and then the apple support site and it shuts down. already tried all the steps, but none worked, and when I plug it into my computer it does not appear in the iTunes bar. what do I do?
If MacKeeper corrupted the Recovery partition then even I underestimated its potential for damage. Garbage "cleaning" apps will cause misery but I have not found that the Recovery partition to have been affected by using MacKeeper or anything like it. I doubt that it did so, but I have learned not to underestimate the potential for such things to result in system corruption.
Before concluding your Mac has a hardware failure, try booting OS X Internet Recovery by holding command option r on startup (three fingers). That will force your iMac to bypass the Recovery partition altogether, and convey the ability to create a new one.
An Internet connection will be required (wired or wireless).
At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
Assuming the HD remains usable you can then use Disk Utility to erase it. Reinstall OS X, restore your essential software and other files, and don't reinstall the junk. -
This happened all of a sudden. Was it in response to a O/S 10 update? The download from the Apple icon does not show a software update is needed; so a new driver is not there. The download at the Apple Support site for HP printers downloads and seems to install until the end, when it says my device an HP C3180 cannot be found. Can anyone help?

Shouldnt apple support site be responsive?
Maybe im missing something but i find it odd that the apple support site, of all the sites in the world, is not responsive.
As in: doesnt resize to fit my iphone screen.
Anyone else find this odd, frustrating, counterintuitive?I did try using the search function but it was kind of fiddly on the iPhone.
So I learnt from this that this is a peer to peer forum. That's great, but surely acceptable to ask my peers if they know anything about this. Maybe have a heart2heart about it.
It's just odd that the company that pioneered web on devices has forums (peer2peer or help and support) that don't immediately rearrange themselves into neat iphone size.
It's also odd that with Mac stuff in general being the absolute pinnacle of usability it's not more obvious that this is a peer2peer forum. I normally end up here when I do a web search to troubleshoot a problem so just always assumed it was overseen by some Apple reps.
Further searches on a big screen have shown me that other people have contacted Apple but we'll never know anything anyway until it happens as they don't respond to feedback.
So i guess I'll continue to be confused by this and let out a little screech of joy when one day it fits on my device screen. -

My ITunes account has failed to open and reccomends a "re-install". The apple support site instructs "create a new account". Any knows what will become of my music collection and account $ balance?
Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)
I've never lost an account balance after an uninstall/reinstall. -
Imac Snow Leopard .....While adding new fonts, somehow dumped necessary fonts from OS 10.6 library. now have only blank menus, dialog boxes, even apple support site. How to fix?

Strangely enough even though I had gotten the " Install failed....Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer....The install could not copy the necessary support files" I had left it on the screen and left the room for awhile. I walked back into my computer room a few minutes ago and the window on the screen stated that the SL OS 10.6.4 had successfully installed. I am now very carefully checking things out to make sure the fonts are where they should be. With the exception of some updating it appears all may be well.

Thank you for response. following is series of events to my best recollection.
I would typically not have been this stupid/ignorant but was doing this in a hurry with someone asking me questions...wasn't paying attn. to what I was doing
• downloaded new fonts
• opened downloaded fonts, clicked font icons to open and install them.
• typed "fonts" in spotlight (with the intention of moving new fonts into font folder)The Spotlight results window revealed 5 or 6 font folders. I ignorantly started to try a clean up by installing all fonts into a single folder (not thinking about system fonts)
Sometimes when you are moving a folder the window you moved it from will jump around..well this occurred and I mistakenly released the folder on the desk top. This caused a copy to be made. After some investigation I realized it was a copy of the required system fonts that were still located in the original "spotlight results" window.
• I attempted to delete the copy..when I did an administrator password box appeared I entered the password and the result was both system font folders were deleted (the original & the desk top copy I erroneously made)
• Now windows open but are blank with sometimes faded mini sized icons. If I click one of the mini icons i get a new blank window. I am unable to give any instruction, have total blank menus, dialog boxes, etc.
