Safari Crashes on Yahoo Mail Log-in
I've been experiencing this for a couple of months now. I've sent the reports to Apple, moved my Safari prefs file to the desktop, trashed the Safari icon folder and none of it has solved the problem. I've been using FireFox in the meantime, but for me, that's a much less satisfying browser to use because of the barely implemented Auto-fill and the inability to use all the keyboard commands that almost every program responds to. I'm using Safari 2.0.3 on an eMac(ATI) 1GHz w/ 1Gb of RAM. This started happening before the Yahoo Mail Beta came out, so that's not the problem. Please help as I am tired of being forced to use FireFox.

I am not receiving yahoo email on my IPhone 6 and IPad Air, both are iOS 8.2. I can only access email by going thru Safari to the yahoo mail page. I tried to delete the yahoo account on the phone and reinstalled, to no avail. Any suggestions how to fix this problem?
My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.

Safari pinwheels in Yahoo mail
Hello everyone - Safari keeps freezing up (pinwheeling) whenever I'm in my Yahoo mail. I can't do but a couple of steps before the pinwheel appears. I'm using Safari version 5.1.1 and the latest version of Yahoo mail. Any tips, advise or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Details
Type yahoo in the search field top right corner of that window then click Remove All / Done
Now go to the menu bar again, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
Now empty the Safari cache from the menu bar or Command + Option + E on your keyboard.
Restart your Mac. Launch Safari. Try Yahoo.
Tip... there's an alternate way of accessing your Yahoo web based mail via a browser.
Launch the Mac Mail app. From the menu bar click Mail > Preferences. Select the Accounts tab then select the Account Information tab.
Click + under the Accounts panel on the left.
Type in your name, Yahoo user name and password then click Create.
Now instead of using Safari to access Yahoo mail, just click the Mail icon in the Dock. If you have unread Yahoo mail you'll see a small red badge on the Mail icon. -
Safari 5 crashes with Yahoo Mail attachments
I just updated to Safari 5 and it crashes when I try to send a Yahoo email with attachment. My two other email accounts accept attachments with Safari but when I try to attach them in Yahoo, Safari freezes. Force Quit does not show that Safari is not responding but that's the only way I can close it. The type of file attached makes no difference -- text document, video or photo. Yahoo attachments work normally with Chrome. The other changes I made when updating Safari were those recommended in the June 5 Adobe security bulletin for Reader, Acrobat and Flash Player: I deleted the authplay.dll file in Reader/Acrobat and installed the 10.1 Release Candidate for Flash Player. (Also installed the 1.0 firmware update for the 27 inch display which should be irrelevant.) Yahoo Help only gives the duuuuh answer "Change browsers." Any suggestions?
Having same problem, so sent an email to Yahoo Mail Premium Customer Care. Here is their response (we should all be sending our troubles to Apple, as well as to Yahoo, since this is obviously a problem with SAFARI -- and, so far, Yahoo! does not seem to know this fact):

Works fine in classic Yahoo mail. But in the "new" Yahoo mail, there is not even an option to open in new tab when I right click the message to be opened. Interestingly enough, I can right click open to new tab on any other link on the same page that the emails are listed in.
Anyone encounter this? Have a solution?

If that didn't help, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try Yahoo / tabs. If it functions as it should, move the .plist file to the Trash. Otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try again. -
10.6.8, Safari 5.1, Yahoo Mail, Hopeless?
I am just about fed up with how dysfunctional Yahoo Mail is on my Mac. I'm using the latest version of Safari that can be used on 10.6.8 and Yahoo mail is just abysmal. Slow, slow, and slow, even when it works. Often, it just doesnt. Buttons fail to do anything. I cant compose, forward, empty trash, or empty spam. I kill the window, open up a new one and usually can get it to work, but it is so slow as to be just horrific.
Is there ANY way to get Yahoo mail to work on Safari in a modern sense? ANY way at all?
PLEASE help.You may want to check with Yahoo support. A friend had issues after one of their redesigns and called them, and they were able to hep him out of it.
I have Safari 5.1.7 on an iMac running 10.6.8 and, even after the latest Yahoo redesign, have no problems accessing my mail through yahoo.
We should check for any other issues that could be at play:
1) Do you have any "pay-for" anti-virus, internet security, or one of those awfful "I'll clean your Mac" programs installed?
2) Are you running any Safari extensions?
3) Are you using third-party backup software such as those that come bundled with some external hard drives?
However, I agree with Kirk: web mail access is awkward and not as secure as using a mail client like Apple Mail. This is especailly true if you have a relatively slow internet service. And, like Kirk, I've tested yahoo e-mail handling on Apple Mail and it works fast and reliably.
PS: I only use my yahoo account when I need a "throw-away" e-mail address. -

Are you using the 'insert link' icon in the Yahoo! mail toolbar?
Open Yahoo! mail.
Compose a new message.
Click the Insert Link icon to open a window similar to the following:
Now you can manually type-in the desired link,
-or-
cut and paste it from the Safari toolbar, as follows:
Open the desired page you want to link to in another tab in Safari.
Highlight the link, by clicking and dragging until the entire URL is highlighted. I click on the icon at the beginning of the URL, and it is automatically highlighted. (That 'highlight' behavior is not consistent with other browsers, such as Google Chrome, by the way.)
Copy it by pressing the Command and the C keys at the same time to 'Copy' the desired link, or use the Safari toolbar word menu, Edit, and Copy.
Move to the tab with the open Yahoo mail window, click the 'chain-link' icon to open the Yahoo! dialog box as shown above
Now press Command and the V keys at the same time to 'Paste' the link into the open dialog box, or use the Safari toolbar menu, Edit, and Paste.
At this point, the URL should appear in blue underscore within the Yahoo! email message as a clickable link to the page.
In the first screenshot above with the arrow, you see the URL for this thread shown twice, once in black (simply cut and pasted), and the second in blue underscore (clickable), using the Insert Link icon as described.
UPDATE: After sending the test message I composed above with Yahoo! mail to a Gmail account, both the links actually were clickable, so it might depend upon how the email service receiving the message handles links.

Cannot connect to Yahoo mail...get error message to change Safari Privacy settings. Thought I changed as required but the Safari icon disappeared and could no longer connect to the web?

Safari Crashes on HP shopping log?
Everytime I visit hp and configure a Pavilion notebook Safari crashes. It may take 5 pages or a few minutes, but it either crashes right away or presents crash reporter when I quit. Invariably, Safari fails to exit normally when viewing content from the laptop configuration on the HP site.
I tried creating a new user, but the same thing happens on a fresh account. Here is a crash reporter log. Any ideas?

Windows XPThe Yahoo Mail Beta version does not work for me. Same error as you are getting. I use the Yahoo regular version and it works great for me.

Safari crashes when trying to log into Gmail
Hello.
Does anyone else have this problem? Whenever I try to sign in to Gmail, Safari freezes (the little rainbow circle keeps going around) and I have to force-quit out of it.
I figured maybe I just need to reinstall Safari. I had Safari 1.3.1, but went back and re-installed version 1.2. When I tried to install the 1.3.1 update, it won't let me. The installation window is giving me the red arrow on the harddrive sign.
What do I do? I now have the older version of Safari than before and I still cannot sign into Gmail.
Can anyone help?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Safari 1.3.1 was released with 10.3.9. You can download and reapply the Mac OS X Combined Update 10.3.9, or you can use Pacifist to extract and install Safari 1.3 from the Combined Update package.
You should then be able to install in succession Safari 1.3.1 and Safari 1.3.2, and Security Update 2006-002 (10.3.9 Client).
If you run into Safari prohibitive installation problems, you may have to remove any Safari.pkg files from the Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts Folder and then reattempt reinstallation.

How do I stop Safari from 'pinwheeling' whenever I try to use Yahoo Mail?
I really need a correct answer please. Other answers have only suggested how to access Yahoo Mail without using Safari. I want to continue using Safari to access Yahoo Mail,if possible. Thank you.Could be a cookie issue...
Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab then click Show Cookies
Type yahoo in the serach field then click Remove All > Done
Quit then relaunch Safari.
Try accessing your Yahoo mail account.
FYI... there is rarely a sure fire correct response for third party web based email client software. Often takes time consuming troubleshooting. -
Can not log onto Yahoo Mail on BootCamp Win7. No problem on OSX
I can use latest version of FF to view my Yahoo Mail account on my MacPro with latest version of Snow Leopard but when I switch to my BootCamp Win7 I can not log onto Yahoo Mail. I don't get any error. It just comes back to the Yahoo Mail log on page. Win7 is current and FF is ver 3.6.13
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
