Safari crashes to home screen

Can anyone help me?
When I am using safari to view a web page my iTouch suddenly goes back to the home screen - even though I did not press the home button at the bottom.
It has happened several times now. I have tried resetting safari in "settings" but that does not seem to work as it happened again soon after I did that.
Any suggestions?

When you say "known issue" do you mean that it happens to you as well? Or do you mean that Apple know about it and are trying to fix it?
My iTouch is brand new (16gb model) and I have only been using it a few days.

Safari crashing to home screen

This is getting really annoying. Every single time that I use Safari, it crashes and sends me to the home screen. This crash will occur anytime within seconds to a few minutes after beginning to load a page. I have cleared the cache and everything else and the problem still persists.
In anticipation of a crash I stopped a webpage while it was loading this afternoon. I did this so this so that I could read the text on the page which had already loaded. Despite the fact that the webpage was no longer loading, SAFARI STILL CRASHED about 30 seconds after the loading was stopped.
I see this problem posted and there seems to be no solution. Does this affect every single iPhone?
FWIW, I pretty much only use edge and not wifi. I have 4 free gigs of space on the iphone. I am using Vista at home. Software version on the phone is 1.1.3. I've owned it since a day after MacWorld. It has never been jailbroken.

Try a Reset by pressing and holding the Home button and Sleep/Wake or On/Off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and the release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.
If this allows Safari to load a website, quit Safari by pressing and holding the Home button until the iPhone returns to the Home screen. This quits the application.
Then clear the Safari cache, cookies and history.
Power your iPhone off and on or do another Reset.
If this doesn't resolve it, time to give AppleCare a call - (800) 694-7466.

Facebook App Crashes to Home Screen

For some reason, the Facebook app keeps crashing. It opens but then a second later it goes back to the home screen. Should I try deleting it and re-installing?

Reinstalling may help. However, I use Safari to access Facebook. It's generally faster and more stable than the app.

Safari returns to Home screen

When changing websites in Safari our iPad often goes blank and returns to the home screen. Just recently started in the year that we have had it. Other applications seem to work fine.

You can try this next. You can remove databases in Safari. I'm not sure it will do any good but it will not hurt anything.
You can go to Settings>Safari>Databases. If you don't see databases under the Accept Cookies field in the setting then it doesn't matter and this theory is shot. If databases is listed - tap it and it takes you to the next window that shows all of the databases in Safari. Tap edit and remove them - or at least see if one or more of those databases is from the sites that are causing Safari to crash. If they are, by all means delete them and that may help. It does no harm to remove these because when you return to that site again the databases will reload. I delete mine from time to time. If you see one that is close to the size limit alloted for that database, it may be causing an issue. Restart the iPad after you do this.
Your theory about removing apps may still hold water. You may have not hit on the one that is causing the problem yet. One other thing you can try is to download an app - any free app - see if Safari works OK after you try that. This seems to be a new "fix" that sometimes works for apps that crash. Again - no promises - but it will do no harm to try. You can always delete the app if you don't want it.

Maps, Weatherbug, and other programs frequently crash then take you to the home screen.
I've restored my iPhone, but the prob still occurs.
Any ideas as to why?

SharePoint Newsfeed iOS app crashes to Home screen

We are having some trouble getting the SharePoint Newsfeed mobile app to work on iOS devices with our on-prem SharePoint 2013 instance. When users go to sign in, they enter their username, password, and URL (the URL has been verified as correct). When they
tap the "Sign in" button, the app shows the "Loading..." screen for about a second, and then crashes to the Home screen. This is happening on all iOS devices we have tested it on, which span multiple versions of iOS 6, as well as iOS 7.
However, the SharePoint Newsfeed mobile app works fine on Windows Phone 8 devices with our SharePoint instance. Has anyone else seen this problem or have any recommendations on how to resolve it?

Could you access SharePoint MySite from iOS browser?
Please check if you input the correct personal site URL (http/https) in your iOS SharePoint Newsfeed app.
Please also try removing and re-installing the SharePoint Newsfeed app from your iOS devices, and test again.

Ipad crashes to home screen/ password

My iPad (4th gen) randomly exits to the password screen. I have to re-enter my password & it returns to whatever I have opened. It does not seem to be app related. Any suggestions?

I don't think that I have ever heard of crashing back to the passcode screen....the home screen, yes - but not the passcode screen.
Have you tried closing all of the apps in the recents tray and then reboot the iPad? It's easy to so, it's harmless, and it might help....
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Asha 302 Crashes - Setting Home Screen / GoTo Shor...

Hi all,
Just reporting that my Asha 302 intermittently but very frequently crashes when changing either the "GoTo" shortcuts or the Home Screen options either by changing the shortcut bar contents or changing whatever apps show in the three home screen windows.
Crash happens as soon as you select change from the respective menu, resulting in the screen flashing, sometimes a 'hiss' out of the loudspeaker, and after a few seconds the phone "soft" restarts (I say soft, as there's no request for PIN code, which is set).
Has happened on v14.23 and now 14.53 firmware. Have tried hard resets, going into flight mode, removing SD card and the issue remains.

I am only responding because I really hate it when you see many who view the post but no one answers and so don't want to be guilty of that!
I have just purchased a Nokia Asha 302 and so far, so good - accept that I have to buy an extra memory card due to having too many songs on my phone lol
No problem so far, but I don't think you mentioned how long you have had your phone for, since mine is just a week old. But in all honesty, going by what a computer does when it crashes, seems that you are overloading it with something ie the capacity is being strained.
Really sorry I have not got something firm to help you with and hope it solves itself soon.

Apps crashing to Home screen after 2.0.1 update

Since I've upgraded to 2.0.1, everytime I launch a downloaded app, it starts to launch, but after a few seconds crashes back to the Home screen.

Safari/Mail icon home screen reset moving issue

I ran into an interesting issue earlier today when I was resetting the home screen layout of my iphone 4S. I attempted to move the safari and mail app icons out of the bottom tray (while the icons were "wiggling") and for some reason they would not come out. I hit the home button to stop the icon wiggling and attempted to move them again. No go. The phone and message icons moved out without an issue, but safari and mail would not.
I shut the iphone off and turned it back on and re-attempted it. This time it worked.
How come I am unable to take and move those two icons off that bottom bar right after doing a home screen reset? Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Safari "Add to Home Screen" Gone

I recently did a fresh restore to my phone because it was acting a little buggy and now it seems that the "Add to Home Screen" function in Safari is now missing. I have a screen capture of it here: http://img.skitch.com/20100818-kbhen3hsrx2i6u66ru63mnbaya.png
I tried searching everywhere to see if it was removed from the newest update and checked all the settings and could seem to figure out or find why its gone. It appears to be not being discussed anywhere so I figured I turn here.
If anyone could help, it would mean a lot because I use that function a lot and its bugging me not to have it.

Safari resets to home screen

Since updating to 5.01, my iPad periodically goes back to the home screen when browsing in Safari. There doesn't seem to e any pattern to it. I'm wondering if this is a software issue (is anyone else seeing this happen?) or if it's a hardware issue and I need o take the unit in while it's still in warranty. Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks.

See if the following help. Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad has also been suggested on these forums.

Tapping wifi crashes to home screen

Recently, my ipad won't connect or find networks. When i go to settings and hit wifi, I get kicked back to the home screen immediatly. I don't know if its a hardware or software issue but i need a fast fix asap. Its an ipad 2 in update 6, think.

If Settings is quitting unexpectedly on your iPad when you tap Wi-Fi, we'll need to do some isolating to figure out if the behavior is caused by hardware or software.
First, be sure to restart or reset your iPad using the steps in this article:
