Safari Crashing Fix (Adobe Flash installs incorrectly)

I was having frequent crashes with Safari (even after the latest 1.1 security update).
I seemed to be seeing Flash showing up in crash reports. After installing the latest Flash player, a couple of things were quite clear.
The Adobe installer does NOT install for all users when it says it is. The Flash components went into the Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder for my account, not into the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder off of the root which is for all users.
Old components of Flash were in the folder for all users while new components were in my folder.
After deleting all of the flash stuff in both folders, reinstalling, then moving the 2 flash files to the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder for all users, I have not seen any crashes in Safari after several hours of surfing.
So, I hope things are really resolved.

grmensz -- did this turn out to be a permanent fix for you? I am having symptoms such as the ones you describe and before I try the workaround you suggest just thought I'd see how it's holding up for you.

Hello! My family plays on the very popular Webkinz website, but for the past week and a half, Safari keeps randomly crashing while accessing the site. Not sure if it is a site issue or a browser issue. I do have the current updates for Leopard, and I checked to make sure that my software is up to date and that I have the current version of adobe flash player. Any help would be appreciated! Webkinz runs fine for me, but I am not on Leopard. The problem is likely to be your FlashPlayer.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
Note that Adobe requires you to uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first.
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player versions (v.9.0.115.0 and 9.0.124.0) in some cases conflict with Leopard 10.5.4, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:

My Flash CC crashes all the time, it's always been doing it since when I started using it on CS4, and I've somewhat given up on this bug being fixed, it crashes at least 20-30 times every document I create. I'm using a Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen&Touch tablet and drawing a lot, I think the problem is that it can't handle this much drawing.
Anyways, it just crashed and for the first time after reopening I found this nice message from Flash:
"Adobe has found a solution or workaround for the recent crash in Adobe Flash CC.
Please click here for further details."
Excited, I clicked on it! At last, a solution! Amazing!
...but it just points to http://www.adobe.com/
... I don't understand.
What's happening? I'm genuinely puzzled.

Yes, this is not good -- you're already mad when it crashes, then "We found a solution!" But, for me clicking on the link does nothing - no link even to adobe, just a tease - nothing opens.
It's bad enough crashing a couple times a day and losing work (I do save every chance I get), but then to get taunted with this bogus message, it's discouraging and exactly the best 'user experience' for a really expensive product from company that is all about helping professionals create good design/user experience ..
I like the way this is headed though! it just doesn't work right now.

It seems it doesn't matter as since update for my plug ins firefox as a whole as slowed way way down and running resources like crazy. Need to fix this. I have been checking around for answers and dont seem to find an easy solution or update to fix this so ff is fast again. It also doesnt seem to be just when on a page with flash on it. It slows all pages down. Once have like 3 pages / tabs open. Fast computer to so this should be fast as heck like it normally is. Thats one main reason for firefox. Cause it runs fast but now slow as can be as of 3 days ago. I updated flash, all plugins and extensions but still slow.
Anybody have any fixes for this and my like posted issue please share. I will be creating a thread myself on this as well so can post there to if dont mind.

Adobe flash installation crashes

MacBook Pro OS X version 10.9.4 Safari version 7.0.5
The downloading of the flash installer is successful, but when it is launched, the installer automatically crashes.
Apple has told me that the program re-runs through the coding hundreds of times until it crashes. Some applications that require adobe flash do work (some youtube videos) but 75% of the time do not.
I have uninstalled and deleted the unnecessary libraries, reset safari, and so on....
Help Please? I'll probably need this for my online class that starts in 2 weeks.....

You need to fix the crash with Adobe Flash in Firefox 4.0.1. 4.0 works just fine. 4.0.1 sucks.

When shutting down the computer unless I close Firefox first, Adobe Flash crashes, causes it to not respond, stops the shutdown sequence and I have to go back in to Windows force close the process and then shut down. It only happens in 4.0.1. It does not happen in 4.0 on both a laptop and a desktop.

On the Firefox browser resizing: Are you speaking of restore down as you would do with IE? I don't have Firefox, but I would think that would be the same.
Let me know so I'm sure we are discussing the same thing:-)
I'm on so many websites and forums and do remember seeing something about memory leak and it may have been with FF. I'd have to check to be sure.

Hello.
I am currently having an issue while installing the latest version of Adobe Flash.
I am using Mac Yosemite, version 10.10.1.
Currently have Flash 15.0.0
I had clicked on the Flash download link and grabbed the file just fine. I grabbed the .dmg file to my desktop, and proceeded to to installing it, however when the window pops up to retrieve it, the window tab goes blank and does not continue.
I have backed out of this and gone through the 'Flash player help' page. I have re-installed the latest version of Adobe Reader, which worked fine. I have gone through Safari preferences and checked everything, i have restarted my system; however, when i return to try installing it (Flash) again, the same thing happens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are two issues that I see happen from time to time:
If the installer runs and fails, typically the offline installer gets the job done:

If it doesn't, try booting into Safe Mode and running it again:

If the installer just doesn't draw, like you get a black window with nothing, then resetting the PRAM frequently fixes that:

Adobe Flash Installation Gray Screen Error

Hi,
When installing adobe flash and other adobe products (adobe reader) I get a gray screen once I load the program. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am on a Windows 8.1 64 bit machine.
Also, when installing Adobe Air the installer worked perfectly, I would assume this is because the installer was in a different format.

I have Win7 (64). My Firefox 14.0.1 was working find with Adobe Flash 10. When Firefox upgraded to 15.0.1 and simultaneously upgraded to Adobe Flash 11. Now Firefox crashed as soon as I go to a site with Flash content (like cnn.com or youtube.com). As soon as I uninstall Adobe Flash completely, Firefox starts to respond again (but of coarse without displaying any Flash contacts as it was uninstalled). I even tried downgrading back to Firefox 14.0.1 and reinstalled Adobe Flash 11, and I get the same crashing results. As well as the same results when I uninstall Adobe Flash (meaning that is responds again, but without displaying Flash content). I also tried the same sequences in safe-mode, but still have the same issues.
I am seeing lots of posts regarding trouble with the new Adobe Flash 11, but no definative solution. Can someone please assist me with this. Or at least instruct me on how to downgrade back to Adobe Flash 10. Their site is not clear on how to do this.

BTW - I have a second computer that is a complete cloned image of this machine (the only difference is the hardware setup is different, with different respective drivers). This second computer is not having any problems with Firefox 15.0.1 and Adobe Flash 11. Can this problem be caused by a hardware issue?

Trouble with Adobe Flash Installation

I am having an issue installing Adobe Flash on my MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.2 using Safari. When I try to run the installation, it begins running until about 50%. Then it says installation was unable to be completed. It does not give any more detailed error code. I have enabled pop ups and plug ins, made sure my firewall is off, updated my Safari, etc. Not sure what else to do. Please help!

Safari Crashes Because of Flash Plug-In

After a week of trying to track down the constant Safari crashes that were actually proliferating I just removed the Flash plug in and it's rock solid again. I had tried different version but none seemed to give it any stability. The latest Flash plug-in was the worst. I could crash Safari in 3-10 page changes!
If you need to use Safari, and oh yea Flash was killing Firefox as well, try just removing Flash altogether.
Works like a charm but no Flash.....which isn't too crippling I'm discovering!

Login to another user account on your Mac. If Safari crashes there also, it could be a system wide problem. Follow the instructions here
for using Disk Utility to Verify and if necessary repair the startupd disk.
