Safari Customize Toolbar doesn't open

When I two-finger click on the toolbar(that has back and forward buttons, address bar and Google search) and choose the Customize Toolbar... option, it doesn't do ANYTHING, well except one thing, it still thinks it's in "customize mode" so now i can't access the address bar or press any buttons, i can ONLY drag them. Does anyone ever had this problem. I've tried reinstalling Safari and I also did Archive & Install and the problem is still there. It's like a virus of some sort. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i had the very problem you were having, in the end the cause was a SIMBL safari plugin called web snapper ... do you use web snapper? or any SIMBL based plugins?

Removing Safari won't help...
Safari preferences may be corrupted.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit, relaunch Safari. Click View from the Safari menu bar then from the drop down menu click Customize Toolbar. See if you can at least drag up the "default" bar.
If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash, If not, just move it back to the Preferences folder
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

Safari 5.1 doesn't open PDFs in-line

Hi. My Safari doesn't open PDF files in-line. It is just downloading them and after that opens them in Preview. No Adobe Reader has ever been installed. Need your help. Thanks

Read Mail button on the toolbar doesn't open my default mail program

I've just reinstalled Firefox 17.0.1 (and everything else) following a crash. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, with Windows Mail (not Live Mail) set as the default email program and I've added a Read Mail button to the Firefox toolbar: all this is exactly as it was before the crash. Windows Mail is selected in Tools/Options/Applications/mailto, and also runs perfectly from its desktop icon.
However, clicking on Read Mail doesn't open Windows Mail as it used to.
I get the message "The application could not be found, please use Toolbar Buttons's options window to correct this". I'm not clear on what it is I'm being directed to do. What and where is the "Toolbar Buttons's options window"?

Safari searching but doesn't open

We have a macbook that is about 1 month old which has an annoying problem with Safari.
We can open Safari and search using Google but sometimes the search will go on and on forever with nothing happening except for the "searching with the black clock circle" showing.
The only way we can get it corrected is to restart the computer.

Customize toolbar when pdf opens in webpage

I open the pdf use window.open javascript in my webpage. I want to always have the "Rotate Clockwise and Rotate Counterclockwise" icons always appear on the toolbar. Without having to right click and enable them.
Can I pass a parameter to enable this?

From your description, I know you want to open SharePoint 2013 PDF files with default application.
You could re-install your Adobe Reader, and then test this issue. Also, you can have test in another computer with Adobe Reader.

Gmail button in Customize Toolbar doesn't stay

I right click on a toolbar and select [customize]. I can drag and drop any of the buttons in the option to the toolbar, including the gmail button. However after a few minutes, it simply diasppears

Safari 5.1 doesn't open homepage since installing Lion.

I recently upgraded to Lion. Now when I launch Safari, it opens the last visited webpages instead of my home page. How do I turn this feature off? I want it to open to my homepage when I launch Safari and I can't find a way to fix this. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!

Safari encrypted webpage doesn't open

recently certain pages in Safari do not load and the URL show a gray lock that when clicked says Safari is using an encrypted connection to [name of site]. how do I get the pages to load?

Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results.

Safari doesn't open maximized from a link in email

When I open Safari from a link in the email program I use (Eudora Pro), the webpage doesn't open maximized-fills only about half of the monitor screen. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem. I did right-click on the Safari icon and changed the setting to open Safari maximized-still doesn't open it completely from a link.

You know to tell which mail format are you using, whether is Outlook or Lotus. SAP Connectors need to be installed for the same depending upon the mail type.

Safari 4.0.3 Customize Toolbar problem

After update verything functions OK till I click View/Customise Toolbars. After this action Adresses and Google searches cannot be typed any more unless I restart Safari
Tried to trass com.apple.Safari.plist and restart but nothing changes

I could not open my "customize toolbar" feature by right clicking in the toolbar nor by choosing selection from the view menu.
I went to Computer/Library/Imput Managers
There I had a list of all the menu plug ins for Safari. I suspected TabExpose was the problem and deleted that first, restarted Safari and it fixed the problem. The security update did not fix it, and deleting the safari plist did not help. This problem occurred with Onyx about 4 months ago also. Deleting the input manager resolved the issue.

Safari 4 - Customize Toolbar not being remembered.

Okay so I downloaded the new Safari 4, and as always found that I really don't like the default toolbar mainly cause the home button is never one of the default buttons among other ones.
I do the old control click, and customize toolbar.
I set it up exactly how I want.
At some point I quit Safari, the next time I open Safari the toolbar reverts back to the default Safari toolbar, so every time I open up Safari I have to reset my tool bar, or just don't quit safari.
There has to be something I'm missing here.. Anyone know what is wrong and why I have to keep doing this every time I open up Safari again?

Welcome to Apple Discussions
May be a corrupted preference file. Via the Finder: move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the desktop and restart Safari. You can find this file in your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Restart Safari.
This resets Safari preferences to default values. You'll need to reset any custom preferences settings, as well as any special settings in the Edit (spelling) or View menu (custom icons, status bar, etc.)
Also, reset the toolbar to your liking. Quit/restart Safari.

Can't customize toolbar Safari 5.1.2

I have another issue with Safari 5.1.2. I can no longer customize the toolbar. I deleted the plist to try to solve the back forward arrow issue I mentioned in another discussion (this did not solve it). That meant I lost my toolbar icons I had put on. Now I can put them back. When I try to customize, space is made tor the buttons, but the buttons don't appaer. The space is there where the buttons should be, but no buttons.
Back to FireFox again.

You are dragging objects straight up to the toolbar from the Customize Toolbar window? Or the default bar? Will it drag up?
If dragging up doesn't work, quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari.
Move the Cache.db from the com.apple.Safari folder file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. Try View > Customize Toolbar

Safari doesn't open and doesn't work at all!!!

Since three days ago, I can open safari at all. I just bounces twice and then stops. I have already tried the solutions offered in other threads which complain about similar problems with safari but safari remains troubled. I am not good at this. Please can an apple expert tell me how to fix safari step by step.

I have tried to uninstall safari but i couldn't. Should I reinstall everything? Can i uninstall safari and get a new copy of safary?
MS Explorer 5.2 still works, but I prefer safari as i have all my bookmarks in it.

Then restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, you may have a third party add on that was compatible with the prior version of Snow Leopard, but not 10.6.8.
Troubleshooting help here > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try Safari in another user account. If you can't open Safari there as well, that's an indication the startup disk may need repairing.
Log back in to your admin account, launch Disk Utility. That's located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
