Safari Default Browser keeps changing to Parallels IE8

I'm tired of continually switching back to Safari as my default browser. I've checked my IE8 settings and they are not set as default browser. Any ideas?

In addition to clearing the share windows applications with Mac OS X option, you need to:
•Locate your virtual machine's bundle (PVM) in Mac OS X. By default, it might stored in the/<Username>/Documents/Parallels/ folder. I found mine in the library preferences Parallels folder for my user name.
• Right-click the bundle and choose Show Package Contents.
• Delete the Windows Applications folder from the virtual machine bundle.

  • Default Language Keeps Changing

I found and downloaded a Pages template I want to use for a feasibility study I'm developing. The paragraph styles and default spelling language was in French. I've changed the language in the Inspector Text|More tab to English, but it keeps changing back to French. Any suggestions about how to fix this? I really rely on the spell checker in Pages, but the French version isn't helpful for an English document.

My guess is that you didn't define the Language correctly in the Inspector.
When we set it, it apply to the selected paragraph, not to the entire text.
As the original document was set to French, when you insert a new paragraph, it is created with the French setting.
To get rid of that, insert one or two paragraphs at the end of the document, select all of them and set the language to English.
After that new paragraphs created at end of doc would use English.
Inserting paragraphs between two French ones will force you to set English by hand.

  • MSI VOX Audio default settings keep changing on startup

I've had this VOX tuner for about a year and a half and I've used it on 2000, XP SP1, SP2, etc...and I've fought with it every single time I reconfigure the O/S.  I am a computer support professional - I know a couple of things about drivers, registry file, etc...and I STILL can't get this thing to work consistently!
Anyway, when I install the drivers and MSIPVS software, it always selects the MIDI synth input instead of Line In as the default audio input setting.  I reconfigure MSIPVS and tell it to use Line In instead - everything works fine.  Then I exit and restart MSIPVS - it goes back to MIDI and I have to reconfigure the audio to use Line In every single time I run the software.  Of course, that means the recording doesn't work - because as soon as I click on record, it sets the audio default back to MIDI synth again.  I've used two different audio cards with this and they all do the same thing (SoundBlaster Live! value and a SoundBlaster Audigy 2).  I've used several different motherboards - I've completely replaced all components in my computer several times and I always have this same problem.
I've got an internal MSI TV tuner card on another machine running this same software - it has the same problem.  It won't exit half the time (the window closes but you can still hear the audio running until you restart the computer).
The hardware seems fine, but the software is unbearably poor!  I'd drop the software in a second if I could find something else that works better.
The weird thing is that in uninstalling, reinstalling, cleaning out the registry, fiddling endlessly -once in a while I can actually get it to work, but I have no idea what I've done to make this work twice in a row.  I've reinstalled the software dozens of times now, reinstalled Windows...I don't know what else to try.
Obviously, I've upgraded all audio and video drivers - none of that makes any difference.
If I open the SoundBlaster mixer program, as I start the MSIPVS program, I can see the MIDI and Line In channels get muted and un-muted but by the time the software loads, it's defaulted back to MIDI Synth again.
Anybody have ANY ideas?  I'm desperate to try anythig now.  I'm considering throwing the whole thing out and getting an ATI tuner or something completely different - as long as it doesn't use this Intervideo software...
    Thanks.
Oh yeah...one more thing I've noticed is that the WinCinema Manager causes all kinds of problems - if this program is running, the channel keeps changing to 1, 11, or 111 - it seems to be sending some kind of remote control signals to change the channels so I've had to disable this program - then the channels seem to work fine (but maybe it's causing my audio problems...?)

  • Why does my default calendar keep changing?

Periodically with no apparent end user intervention my default calendar selection changes.  One is an Exchange based calendar and one Gmail.
Yes, I can change it back, but why does it randomly change in the first place?

Changing into what? You need to give more information about the problem.
How are you connected to the net, describe what's happening. Hopefully then somebody might have some ideas.

  • Safari Private Browsing keeps cookies

I thought that Safari was supposed to purge the cookies added during private browsing as well...seems as if it did that before, but doesn't now.

    HI Jim,
This from the Safari Help Menu:
    About cookies
A cookie is a small file created by a website to store information. The cookie is stored on your computer. Cookies are normally helpful and harmless; it’s rare to encounter a bad cookie.
When you visit a website that uses cookies, the site asks Safari to put cookies on your computer. When you return to the site later, Safari sends back the cookies that belong to the site. The cookies tell the site who you are so that the site can show you information that’s appropriate for you.
Cookies can store information that identifies you, such as your name and email address. A website has access only to the information you provide. For example, a website can’t determine your email address unless you provide it. A website can’t gain access to other information on your computer.
When you use the default cookie preferences in Safari, you won’t know when Safari is accepting or sending cookies.
You can change your cookies preferences so that Safari doesn’t accept cookies or accepts them only from limited sources.

  • My safari home page keeps changing

    Hi,
recently I think I have a spyware problem on my macbook pro.  Every time I open Safari it changes my homepage to 'my-search' and then I also keep getting mac cleaner popping up.  I don't have mac cleaner on my mac (I have looked in the applications) and I have also disabled extensions (there were no extensions on safari either).  Lot so people keep saying reset safari but I can't see how you do that.  It is certainly not on the safari menu.
Please can someone help me before I throw it out the window

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for a file with a name of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. It could be "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," "trusteddownloads," or pretty much anything else.
There may also be a file named
               com.something.helper.plist
    in the same folder.
If you find files with names that fit the above description, post what you have for "something."

  • Default Apps Keep Changing

For multiple programs and file types my changes in default apps do not "stick" after rebooting/restarting. This happens with Entourage, Acrobat, and others. What can I do to get my defaults application assignments to be stable?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Sounds like a hosed LaunchServices database. Run this command (one-liner) in the Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/) by copying & pasting it in, and hit the return key:
*/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user*

  • How to make ffox default Mac brwsr. Currently can only make Safari default; per ffox help.

Just want to make ffox default; ff help only discusses making Safari default browser. Your cookbook questions are not very applicable to this simple problem

If doing it from within Firefox (see [[How to make Firefox the default browser]] ), then you can do it through Safari. See [[Setting Firefox as the default browser does not work]]

  • Why with the Yahoo redirect virus did Mozilla choose Yahoo as their default browser? After just being infected in November I thought I had become reinfected.

Found Yahoo redirect virus on my pc in November. Fixed then found in December my Mozilla Firefox was again using Yahoo as a search engine. I wasted my time looking further for viruses. Why with the a Yahoo Redirect virus out there, was there no warning from Mozilla that the default browser had changed from Google to Yahoo? After many years with Mozilla Firefox I am done!

Firefox is your web browser as Google and Yahoo in this case are Search Engines in your Search Bar.
Starting beginning of December for Firefox 34.0 and on, the Google search engine is no longer the default in '''en-US''' Firefox as Yahoo is now the default. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/34.0.5/releasenotes/
You can still choose Google as your Search engine.

  • IOS7 Reminders app keeps changing color

With the updated version of the Reminders app in iOS7, users now have the ability to set a color scheme for each list they have created.  However, the color of my default list keeps changing back to orange every time I either add a new task or mark a task as completed.  Regardless of how often I manually change the color option back to any other color (I'd prefer red for my default list), that particular list always reverts back to orange anytime the list is modified.  Although its not huge issue, its becoming increasingly frustrating that I cannot set the color of the Reminders list that I use all of the time.
Anyone else experiencing this issue and are there any solutions?
    Thanks!

    Hello SofaKeenGrad,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the Reminders app will not keep the color you select for some reason.
I have a few recommendations for you here:
First I would start by closing all the running apps on the phone:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
When you have done that, next I would restart your iPhone.
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists after that, I would try backing up your phone to iTunes, then restore your phone.
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Before you restore your phone from your backup, try setting it up as new, and verify the Reminders app works as expected. Then restore from your backup, and test the issue again.
    All the best,
    Sterling

Help, my Safari browser has been acting super strange lately!  It keeps changing my default browser automatically from Google to Only Search (if you use the search engine Only Search it takes you to Yahoo.com).  My search bar will only search on Yahoo no matter what I do to make it Google.  On top of that I get MacKeeper popups every time I click on a link.  What is worn with my computer and how do I fix it?!

  • How do i change my default browser from yahoo to safari ?

how do i change my default browser from yahoo to safari ?

You may be mixing two things.
Safari does not really have a home page.
You set your home page on these pref (see pic below). In the pic below my home page is zip, zero, nada.
You set your search engine prefs via the Search option from within Safari preferences.
