No, once they are deleted they are gone - unless you have bookmarked them.

How to totally delete browser history on iPad?

That is the same problem I'm having w/the iPad. I am using the security to limit the websites I visit yet settings -> safari and Safari history will not allow the ability to clear the history. This will eventually bog down the performance of the iPad.

  • IPad auto deleting browser history in safari

My partners iPad(1) 16GB WiFi (Firmware 4.3.3) is deleting all browser history sparadically. For example it was there for 1 week and then deleted for 2 days running. Is this a reported fault or are they just manually clearing the history to hide stuff?

    Ok...maybe preferences are corrupted...
    Go to ~/Library/Prerferences
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari, go to the menu bar click History > Clear History
If that helped, move the .plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. If not, just move it back to the Preferences folder.
If you don't want history saved when you visit Facebook, go to the Safari menu bar click Safari > Private Browsing

  • Safari parental controls: disable 'delete browsing history'

Hey I am interested in accountability for web browsing on the iPad. There are a handful of apps available that have built in accountability and web history reporting, however they are all limited in usefulness because they are designed with practicality as a secondary concern. Most are unstable and lack useful features included in safari. However if apple allowed for a parental control that prevented the deleting of browsing history then it would be unnecessary to run a separate app with limited functionality. I can see this as a feature that many groups would be interested in. I wonder if apple would consider it? What do you think

my kids at age 7 are not allowed on the internet and I have to make a safe website list on my wifi router.
I know if they bring it to a friends house then its will be wide open and they are not allowed to do so yet.
I hope a kids safe app will be made or some parental controls to be made available soon

  • Deleted browsing history

After having my iPad for a while now, there are two things occurring as of recent: at times while browsing safari, the browsing will just close and return to the home screen of the iPad. Also the browsing history has started deleting at times, at least I think. Does this happen automatically or does the erasing have to be initiated to be deleted?
    Thanks!

I think you experiencing a crashing app when Safari suddenly closes the page and your iPad returns to the home screen. As far as I know, you have to delete the history on your own by editing your bookmarks directly in Safari or by going into your settings on the home screen and deleting the bookmarks from the Safari settings in there. I see no way to set Safari to do it automatically.
One easy thing you can try is to simply turn your iPad off, wait a few seconds and turn it on again. This worked for me when Safari was crashing on me. You may also try a reset on you iPad as well. You can find the instructions in the bookmarks in the Safari browser in the iPad user guide.
Try the simple steps first and see if those don't work for you

  • How to recover deleted browser history using time machine on osx lion

I turned my time machine backup on. Deleted some of my browser history. And restored the entire App, Google chrome, hoping my history would reappear. However it didn't. Same with Safari.
What am I missing? Or rather, how to restore just the hisotry and not the rest of the application?

I'm surprised because I just opened History.plist in TextWrangler and all the history listings are in there. There may be some interaction with other parts of what Safari saves during a session, and the only other approach that comes to mind is more serious surgery. The History.plist you found is contained in a folder called "Safari" along with a bunch of other stuff. At the risk of losing anything else you've done in Safari since then (e.g., new bookmarks), try restoring the entire Safari folder from Time Machine, being sure that the TM point you've selected is before the deletion. You might want to copy the current Safari folder to the Desktop first, just in case. And, again, Safari must not be running during the attempt.
There is also a Safari directory in /Users/username/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari which has a history component in it but I'm not sure if you need that restored, too.

  • Is it possible to restore deleted browsing history?

I deleted my browsing history without realizing it would delete saved passwords. Now I cannot access my account on a certain website. Is it possible to recover my history, and will that get back my passwords?

Passwords are not stored in the browsing history. If you delete your passwords, history or cookies it is not possible to recover them.

  • How to recover deleted browsing history?

    Hi All,
I accidentally cleared all my browsing history in Safart via the Clear All History menu. Is there a way that i can recover the deleted history details?
I didn't have Timemachine turned on.

does it make a differnec if the time machine is on
Not really. Your browsing history changes all the time, with every page you visit (or don't visit). New things are added while others are discarded. It would serve you no purpose to recover it anyway, unless you're snooping for something about where other users might have visited.

  • Am i able to retrieve deleted browsing history items? How?

I have some items from my browsing history that i want to view but they were deleted I was just wondering if i can retrieve them.

he easy and quick way to restore file and activity History is the System Restore feature. Since much history is saved into the Windows Registry, restoring it to a previous state will restore file and program History. Revert your computer back to the desired date and enjoy restored History.
If a user has used eraser track programs such as Ad-aware or Spybot, this method will not work and you will need to access the lesser known log files that Windows keeps (the "index.dat" files). Search for "index.dat" on your computer, you will need to download Super WinSpy to view them.
If a user has used advanced tools to erase usage tracks, program logs, registry history and the index.dat files, restore is more difficult. Try using a disk editor to directly access hard disk sectors.
