Safari delete key bug on Korean characters

Currently, I'm using 2014 mid Macbook Pro Retina 15'' .
I've recently updated Safari to 7.1 version, and came out that Safari has delete key bug while using Korean characters for input.
When I'm trying to delete Korean character in Safari, the delete key doesn't work right away, so I have to spam delete several times to get words deleted.
This bug newly appeared after updating Safari to 7.1, which was released August, and several Korean communities also said they are having same issue.
To confirm the issue, just type few words with Korean letters and try to delete with delete key.

  • Where is the DELETE key -- and I don't mean "backspace"

Every PC of any stripe that I have ever owned -- and we're talking a lot of machines in nearly 30 years of this -- has had two 'delete' keys.
One is a backspace key -- it erases characters in before the cursor. It's usually found above the enter/return key, where the backspace key used to be on those old-fangled typewriter machines.
The other key was a "delete" key -- which would erase characters that apper AFTER the cursor. There the backspace key would erase backwards, the delete key would erase forwards.
So, where is the DELETE key on a Mac keyboard? Is there some combination of keys that will serve that purpose? Or does somebody really think I'm going to move the cursor to the end of some place and delete backwards ALL the time?
I read in yesterday's Wall Street Journal that Steve Jobs doesn't like buttons, but this is ridiculous. It could, in fact be a fatal error... I've still got 10 days to take this thing back...
    --PS

I don't suppose there is any kind of utility program that would let me re-map they keyboard, so that I could make, say, the "enter" key at the bottom into a "forward-delete" key (I never use that enter key, my hands are trained to use the "enter/return" key where it's always been on a typewriter -- yeah, I'm that old...)
Either buried on the Mac somewhere or a third party program that would let me do that? Would sure make the MacBook more liveable... I delete a LOT!
    Thanks,
    --PS

  • Korean Input Bug - Deleting Korean characters also removes characters in front of the cursor.

    Hello.
I think I found a bug. I'm running the most recent version of Animate on OSX.9
When I am entering Korean letters (hangul) into Animate, and try to delete them, letters in front of the cursor also disappear.
This only happens if I try to delete a letter in a syllable that is currently being edited. Finished syllables don't have this problem. For example, if I want to type 한 but I type 해 by mistake and try to delete the ㅐ, the phenomenon occurs.
Thanks for the great program though!

    Hello,
Here is how we resolved the problem.
SAP suggest that changing the Report Panel setting of Infoview from Java to HTML will fix the problem with the korean characters.
Login to Infoview > Preferences > Web Intelligence Document > Select a Report Panel: Query - HTML
    - Login to Infoview
    - Click on the Preferences button in the upper right corner
    - Click on "Web Intelligence Document" tab
    - In the "Select a Report Panel" section, select radio button for "Query - HTML"
    - Click on Apply button, then OK.

  • Is this a bug? Delete key acts as Home key

In the SCSM client, go to a CR, look at the planning tab, and use your keyboard to modify the scheduled start/end dates. If you click in the box, and press the delete key (i.e. on the 9 to change it to an 8), the delete key acts as normal.
However, if you use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move around (i.e. you changed the 9 to an 8, now you want to change it to 8:30 or something), the delete key now moves the cursor back to the beginning of the box.
This can be reproduced with consistency. Is this some sort of a bug? I've never heard of this behavior before. Screenshot attached for context.

    Hi FoaRyan,
I have to say that I checked on my lab, and the no matter to use arrow keys or mouse, delete key only change it back to before, and then move the cursor back to the beginning of the box.
If you want to change the date time, why not use backspace key to delete characters.

  • Space Bar & Delete Key Not Functioning Properly in Safari/Chrome

I have Googled extensively on this problem to no avail. I'm hoping the Apple Community faithful can help.
I recently had the logic board on my work Mac Pro crash, and updated to a new Mac Pro (Snow Leo). The local Apple Store was of course able to tranfer all my settings/info to the new machine, and so far everything is humming right along with no issues...except for something VERY strange. Ever since getting the new Mac Pro, typing in Safari and Chrome is very screwed up...as far as I can tell only the spacebar and delete key functions. In Safari, hitting the spacebar while typing functions like hitting the spacebar on a webpage, jumping down on the page. The delete key functions like I'm hitting the back button in the browser. This appears to be happening in Chrome as well, but it can't handle it at all and crashes instantly upon hitting either of those keys. Strange thing is, Firefox is working perfectly.
I have deleted preference files and repaired permissions and neither of those helped. I'm lost here guys. Anyone have any insight?
    Thanks as always,
    Jason

Sorry to hear, I would not have let anyone transfer settings.
    Easy to do yourself.
I would have kept the old system.
And then you would be using a clean vanilla OS.
So what I would jdo now is a clean install on one of your hard drifves and see if that rules out issues.
USB cables, extensions, hubs, keybaord is a hub also, can all do mischief, even kernel panic.
Permissions? No. Repair the hard drive, Yes, maybe even with something more robust than Apple First Aid.
And not just prefs, a lot of issues reside with application cacvhe files and folders.
Cloning a system, repair8ing, and booting is good maintenance.
A clean install and update should take under an houjr.
While new Mac Pro should run 10.6.8, it is possible that it would have come or shipped with Lion at this point.

  • Safari 5.1.7 Disabling the delete key from going back a page

Everytime Im on Safari and I want to delete some text Safari goes back to the previous viewed page after I press the delete key. This is very frustrating. Does anybody know how to disable. Please help

    HI John,
That would require remapping. This thread has some links available that may help.

Possibly http://www.hotkey.com. You can assign Command + Backspace as a shortcut for Delete.

  • Safari 8.0 "delete" key to previous page

Is there a way in terminal to enable the delete key to go to previous page? I am using Yosemite on 2008 23" iMac. I really miss the feature, and I keep hitting delete button. I know you can change the prefs for Safari 6 and 7. But I cannot find anything to change the Safari 8.
Help! I have regular keyboard and mouse, so the two finger swipe is not an option.

I recently updated to Yosemite 10.10.1 and Safari seemed to be behaving. But alas: I have been using Safari all  morning today. I just left my MacBook for maybe 1/2 hour to get lunch.
Come back: Safari is stuck: it hangs opening any web page from any site. All the pages I had open before lunch now hang. Of course Chrome and Firefox keep on working as usual.
But I noticed something else: other Apple-made tools fail too. Calendar for example hangs with the little spinning wheel and eventually says: "Calendar couldn’t connect to p09-caldav.icloud.com. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet, and then try again later.
    And indeed, p09-caldav.icloud.com is unreachable:
    $ ping p09-caldav.icloud.com
    PING p09-caldav.icloud.com.akadns.net (17.164.0.75): 56 data bytes
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
    ^C
All other similar systems appear to be unreachable too (p01-caldav.icloud.com etc). Same behavior for contacts: it also fails to connect to my icloud contacts. And the App Store (that tells me there is one update pending) just hangs for ever: it does not even display its home window. I have doubts about Messages (at least with the icloud messages - jabber works fine).
    So let me count:
    - safari: unusable
    - calendar: unusable
    - contacts: unusable
    - app store: unusable
But at least trusty old Google Chrome works. And I imagine that Safari (and his friends) will resume working for no good reason when I go for dinner ... But I can't go on that way. I am using all of this for real work. If I can't depend on them being reliable, then what's the point ? I might as well fire up my old Windows laptop and be done with it.
I am sure a reboot will cure all. But it takes sooooo loooong.

  • BUG? JDev 10.1.3.1.0 on MacBook Pro - problem using space and delete keys

Is anyone using JDev 10.1.3.1.0 production release on a Macbook Pro? I am experiencing problems using the delete and space keys. The delete key no longer seems to work at all when using any of the key bindings including Default MacOS X. Using the spacebar also seems to have a conflict with the code completion feature. I am finding that the code completion always pops up when the space bar is used and no space is inserted with the editor. The space bar only works when used in conjuction with the shift key. Can anyone verify if they are able to use these keys in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 on a Macbook Pro?
    Thanks,
    Richard

This was from the dmg file.
I found that in Preferences | Accelerators, Completion Insight lists 'Space' as an accelerator, right after 'CommandAIC'. Removing that fixed the problem, but I still can't fix the Delete issue.
The Delete action is assigned to the 'Delete' key, which is recognizes as the key combination fn-Delete. I tried to assign the Delete Previous Char to just the delete key, but pressing the Delete key while in the New Accelerator field is not recognized - it just pretends as if I had not pressed a key.
I'm looking at the the file:
    jdevhome/system/oracle.jdeveloper.10.1.3.39.84/Default_macosx.kdf
trying to find entries for Delete and they are not in there - is there some other place I should be looking?
    Thanks,

  • Delete Key in LiveCycle Javascript editor

I'm running version 8.0 of the LiveCycle Designer.  When I'm in the Javascript editor, if I hit the Delete Key it deletes two characters instead of just one.  Does anyone know why it does this?  Anyone know how to change this to only delete one character?
    Thanks,
    Terry

    Chintan,
I didn't say it was a bug.  I assumed it was a configuration setting somewhere that I'm not finding.  Why it would work that way?  I don't know.  Although I wouldn't rule out a bug just because you haven't seen it.
It is not my pc.  The delete key works fine every place except the javascript editor in designer.

  • How do I get the keyboard viewer to display Korean characters

I am trying to set up my Mac so that I can type in Korean. I followed the instructions here: http://www.foolsworkshop.com/120b/koreanmac.html.
After adding all the Hangul input methods under the International control panel, I have the flag language menu on the menu bar that lets me switch between typing in English and Korean.
So far so good, but now I'd like to see a layout of where the Hangul characters are on the keyboard, so that I don't have to guess. The above link says that I can see this by selecting Show Keyboard Window from the language menu. If I select this, however, it brings up a picture of a keyboard with Roman characters on the keys. How do I get it to display a picture of a keyboard with Korean characters?

Bleech. That's exactly the kind of unpolished UI sloppiness that Apple makes such a big deal about not having. I think the dorky-but-lovable PC guy from the TV ads gets a pass to chew out the insufferably smug Mac hipster guy in Korean.
Seriously, though, I tried that and it works. Thanks for the tip.

I can't delete events recurring annually...not part of birthday calendar, these are events I've added manually.  I've tried delete key, cut event, changing to no recurrence, they just revert to original recurrence and will not be removed from my calendar.  Events that occur weekly I'm able to delete, this is only happening with events recurring annually.  Very frustrating.  Thanks for any ideas.

If you are using a PC, log on to iCloud using Safari (rather than Explorer) to reset the photostream. Then turn iPhone/iPad photostream off and back on. I was getting the same server error as you and this advice from another blog worked for my iPhone and iPad.  But I still can't get photostream deleted from my apple tv. There does not seem to be a photostream on/off control In Apple tv 4.4 software.  I tried switching the screen saver to one of the ones that comes preloaded on the device, then back to photostream but all the old photos are still there.  If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it.

  • Can't see Korean characters properly in text messages after latest update

Pretty simple, Korean characters used to work on my Q10 (being able to see them), but now after the latest update, they show up as half Chinese characters and completely garbled and unreadable.
This has basically made my Q10 useless to me, and I've moved back to my Galaxy S3. While I love my Q10 and BlackBerry, all of the bugs I've encountered has sort of made me... well, not happy.
Is there any chance this particular issue is going to get fixed?
    Thanks.

Just as additional information: moving my SIM card to a different phone and recieving the exact same text works on other phones, so it's definitely the Q10 and latest update (as I never had an issue previously with it).

  • Why does the delete key on the keyboard go backward?  How can I make it go the other way?

I'm used to a PC keyboard that enables me to delete characters from where my cursor it to the next space to the right.  The keyboard I have with my Mac, alas, is frustrating for me to use because it goes backwards from what I am used to.  Is there a fix to this?  My PC keyboard has a backspace button in addition to the delete button, so it is very straightforward for me that way.

The delete key, if the cursor is placed mid sentence, will remove letters etc forwards from that cursor point.   If you are deleting from the end of a sentence, the backward facing long arrow above the return key will delete backwards from that point.
For groups of letters or sentences, highlight them and press delete.
It is one of those situations where you should learn the new approach because the rest of the system is geared to it.
