Safari Disappeared

While I wasn't using my iPhone 4, Safari disappeared from my home screen. The bottom row of 4 became a row of 3 after it was gone, which was immediately conspicuous. I tried using other apps which could include hyperlinks to try and activate Safari through a page reference, but that does not work either. Apps like Facebook just indicate that the internet connection is not available when trying to click on a link, even though the rest of Facebook loads fine. Safari is part of the operating system, not an app, so it can't be re-downloaded through the App Store. I've tried resetting the home screen as was mentioned on a related post on this board, but that did not bring back Safari, it only removed all of my groupings, which will be annoying to recreate now. Safari is not restricted, nor is anything else. Looking at the restrictions settings, Safari is set to off and greyed out, unavailable to be changed to anything else.
How does part of the operating system disappear?
What steps can be taken to get it back?

I had never used restrictions before encountering this issue and trying to diagnose it, so no one manually put a restriction on Safari on my phone. I was also not able to unrestrict Safari previously, as it was greyed out and unavailable to be changed. Nonetheless, after posting this issue and taking no further action, Safari has suddenly returned to my iPhone. It was gone for 3 days, but returned by itself. I had not sync'd my phone since before it disappeared. So it appears that Safari can appear and disappear from the operating system randomly, which shakes my confidence in the iOS.
How is this possible? What caused this to happen?

  • Safari disappeared and cannot install

    Mac OS X 10.4.10
I tried to install Safari 3 Beta, but I Force Quit during installation because some applications were open.
    I lost Safari,
found from a friend the Max OS X Install Disc, 10.4.9 version for MacBook and try to install like in
"Safari disappeared in OS X Tiger v.10.4.10"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1082242&tstart=0
But when I try to install only Safari, Optional Installs.mpkg doesen't open. Maybe my Installer doesn't work anymore?
Since I lost Safari, applications like Mail, iTunes, Onyx, Adium or Acquisition dont open.
Word, Firefox, VLC open without problem.
When I try to put the Intallation CD I and start the complete installation I have one grey view with some kernel panic...
What do I have to do ?

    Trash the com.apple.Safari.plist
You will find it in Home folder>Library>Preferences>com.apple.Safari.plist
    Now try again ...
** Or start a NEW topic in the OSX 10.3.9 OR EARLIER forum with as TITEL >Application not opening<

AppStore, iTunes, Safari disappeared from my iPad

    Check your restrictions

  • Safari disappeared from my iphone 4s

Safari disappeared from my iphone 4s after joining a network at a friend's house and joining Craig's List.  Has anyone heard of this happening? What should I do now?

Default apps are part of the iOS and cannot be deleted.  Search all home screens and all folders and/or search for it with Spotlight, that will tell you what folder it's in.
Also check Settings > General > Restrictions to see if it has been restricted.
If not found, Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • Safari disappeared from my husband's account.

Safari disappeared from my husband's account (not the administrator's account).  How do I retreive it?

I take it you don't have backups. That's a much more serious problem than the one you're asking about, but I'll stick to the matter at hand.
    You have three choices.
    1. If you have another web browser installed, use that to download the Safari installer.
    2. Use another computer to download the installer, then transfer the file to your husband's computer.
    3. Reinstall the OS from the installation disc that you originally used to install it, then run Software Update to bring the installation up to date. Not recommended if you have no backups, but it will probably be OK.

  • Safari disappear upon mail account set up

I have problems with my iphone 4 as my safari disappeared suddenly. I restored my phone as i tried resetting my home screen and enabling restrictions. However when i set up my mail account, the safari disappeared again. Hence i realized that its due to the mail account setup. Previously i have not experienced this problem as my iphone has safari and mail accounts setup. Now my friends also have this problem (even with 3GS) hence i hope someone could help us to fix this. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi and welcome..
Try restoring your iPhone again but "restore as new"... just click Restore under the Summary tab in iTunes and follow the instrucitons.
Do not Restore from a backup. If the restore as new is successful, then add your mail account directly on the iPhone.

  • Safari disappears from iPad with addition of Exchange Server email setup

After updating the iPad with the new operating system, I noticed Safari disappeared and found no solution. Apple personnel had me restore the iPad system (which wiped out all the settings and caused me to lose numerous documents). But after the restore, I had Safari...until I again set up my email through Exchange Server. I can set up Gmail and my email through MobileMe and there is no problem. But setting up my email from Exchange Server causes Safari to disappear every time. Likewise, if I delete the email from Exchange Server, Safari is suddenly available and working well.
    Any solutions.

I'm having the same problem. Updated to 4.2 everything is great except Safari is gone.
When I go into the General Settings, restrictions are disabled but Safari (and only safari) is turned to off.
So I added a passcode and enable restrictions, but I can't turn on safari.
If I delete the exchange account. Safari comes back. If I add it again it disappears.
I can't seem to find anything that can be tweaked on the server side of exchange or the client side of the ipad, Anyone have any ideas?
Mick you wouldn't know what the exchange setting was that needed to be changed?

Try installing safari again" I Have an Airport also so i can connect the both also

What version of Mac OSX is installed on the Mac that has Safari problems?
Apple Menu > About this Mac
Versions of Safari for Leopard and Tiger (10.4.11) are available here:
    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
If you don't have those versions of the OSX I wouldn't use these downloads.
If you download Safari onto your working Mac, you could use a usb thumbdrive to transfer the dmg file to the other Mac.

  • Email and safari disappeared

February 11, 2014  - Email and Safari have disappeared from my IPod Touch.  By this I mean the icons are still there, but it opens only to a white screen.  Everything was working this morning and then a couple of hours later they were gone.  What is going on?  How can this be fixed?

Okay, I figured how to fix it by rebooting the IPod.  I held down the home button and the power button until the Apple logo appeared.  When it appeared I stopped holding down the buttons and waited for the IPod to start up on its own.  It took several seconds, but then finally clicked onto my home screen.  I checked my mail and safari and they were both working again!  I'm not sure why the problem occured.  I read somewhere that Gmail was having some kind of "bug" problem, which might have caused a glitch perhaps.

  • Safari disappears from applications

Every once in a while my safari is missing and I must reinstall. It happens more often now, almost once a week.

It disappears from my Dock at least weekly and from the Applications Folder every 2 to 3 weeks. Spotlight does not find the app but the lib still has the Safari folder with bookmarks and history. I was thinking maybe the app turns to an invisible file?  This just started in the last 2 months. Safari 5.1.7 (6534.57.2)
My wife's older power mac running 10.4 has a disappearing safari almost daily now where she used to lose it intermittently. Her problems started once in a while this summer , but now is nearly daily.  Safari 4.1.3.
This also used to happen on my son's emac every once in a while. I used to thing he was using the trash to close the app. He has not mentioned this problem on his mini.

  • Safari disappeared from the device, nowhere to download it again !????

Safari just vanished from my iPad, can not find anywhere to make a fresh download, even after restor, it is there, once you sink it will disappear again !

Safari can't be deleted.  However, it can be hidden if restrictions are enabled for Safari.  Check Settings >General > Restrictions.
If it's not restricted, it's probably in a folder with some other apps.
You can go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset home screen layout to reset the original icons to their original positions with other apps following in alphabetical order

  • Safari disappears

When I close the last window in Safari 5.1 running under Lion the application disappears.  How do I get  back from Finder to the Safari menu bar?
If I run Safari in fullscreen and then close its last window again it loses its fullscreen status and disappears.  The dock icon and Activity Monitor show that it is still running but I need to select it from the dock to open it.  Furthermore when it does open it is not in fullscreen.
    It seems necessary to keep
