Safari displaying pages inconsistently

Pages that I'm sure used to display fine in Safari are suddenly not displaying at all - they're a completely white and displaying nothing. My first thought was to reinstall Safari, but that seems to be trickier than I thought.
I have two Safari plugins installed: Saft and PithHelmet. Is anyone experiencing om similar issues? Should I try to resintall? How do I do this?
Thanks

Have you updated Saft and PithHelmet since the last Safari Update?
Have you cleared your cache (Safari > Empty Cache)?
Are you having the same problem in another browser, such as Firefox or Camino?
If the answers to the above are yes, yes, no, then see what happens when you delete Safari's Preferences file. It is named "com.apple.Safari.plist". First quit Safari. The fastest way to find it is to paste the name (without quotes) into Spotlight. You will get one entry. Click on Show All and you will be able to drag it to the trash. Restart Safari. You will have to redo any changes you have made through Safari's preferences.
Let is know what happens.

  • Safari displays pages from US not UK

    Hi all...
    I recently purchased a Macbook Pro in the UK. When setting up I listed my location as London UK, however whenever I google or search in Safari the pages always load up as US pages, for example ebay.com rather than ebay.co.uk etc.
    Is there any way to change the settings so that searches show the relevant pages from the UK? Searching for 'computer desk buy' and then being provided with items for sale in Wisconsin is not very helpful.
    Many thanks in advance for any advice.

    Font Book, select all fonts, validate them, and finally resolve all duplicates. Restart and things should work normally.

    I'm really happy you're sorted now . . . but Georgia is not supposed to be in your HD > System > Fonts.
    Unless you installed Office X on there. Anyway, I think you would get quite a lot out of this FAQ on fonts

  • Safari will not display pages

    I recently updated to Mountain Lion on my late 2010 MacBook Air.  Today, I attempted to use Safari and I can get no page to display.  Safari itself loads, but no pages will load.  I use Chrome as my default browser and only pull up Safari occasionally, so I can't say for sure that I have used Safari since the upgrade, however, I probably have.
    Today, I was invited to a Go To Meeting online meeting.  I opened the page in Chrome and it downloaded the GTM app.  I clicked on that and it tried unsuccessfully to download required files from it's server via it's own app.  I tried this several times without success and then thought to try the entire process using Safari.  That is when I discovered that Safari would not display pages.  It acts as if it has no connection to the internet.  Safari loads and the progress bar moves a little across the top then it just stops.  It never times out or complains; just nothing.
    Given that the GTM app looks also like it cannot connect to the internet, I went looking at some of the suspects.  My firewall is turned off.  My network status comes up clean when I test it. ...and more oddly, Chrome seems to have no problems with any and all pages.
    I searched for similar problems with solutions and one recommendation was to boot into safe mode to see if that made a difference.  I did that and there was no difference.  Since I don't use Safari routinely, it is stock, as delivered.
    Any ideas for how to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
    OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
    Next, close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
    Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
    This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

  • My Safari displays text in certains spots on a web page as mixed characters

    My Safari displays text in certains spots on a web page as mixed characters. Is there a fix for this or does anyone have an idea what may be going on? I have looked at my fonts and everything seems to be working just fine. I can't quite figure out why this only happens to certain text and not others. But I can't read half of the pages on the web because of this. I can copy the mixed up text out of Safari and past it in another application and the copy is in perfect english then.
    an example of what I am talking about is below:
    (Kvg"Urgekhkeu"/Crmg"/"Crmg"Fgumvqru
    Here is what it says when I copy the same characters out of Safari and paste them below:
    (Item Specifics - Apple Desktops)
    Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated

    I work as a graphic designer so I keep a very clsoe eye on my font library. In fact I don't use font Book, I use Suitcase Fusion. But i went to font book and double checked and I don't have any duplicae fonts in there. Would you have any other ideas?
    thanks for your help!

  • Safari displaying Excite mail page properly

    I have problems with how safari displays my excite mail page. Safari 4.0.4
    The frame on the left which shows in boxes and junk etc. is cropped.
    I only use a single button mouse and I can shift the frame over but I cant move it back and then it does not display the names of the boxes.
    I have tried everything from resetting safari clearing all the cookies etc.
    This does not happen in other browsers like Firefox, Camino or Opera.
    Can you tell me what the issue is please or how to fix it.
    I have Multiple Sclerosis so I am a bit slow and stupid. Please try and explain in full please.

    HI Jeremy,
    I have a good friend with MS. Never a bit slow and certainly not stupid.
    The problem here is that Excite Mail's system requirements mentioned here; Excite Mail do not include Safari. Their browser requirements are woefully outdated.
    At least you can use an alternate browser.

  • Safari Displays Blank White Page

    Hello,
    I have 10.8.2 server  that Safari displays a blank white page on every website you try to access. If you go to apple's website you can click on where the links would be and the page will change however it displays a blank page. Firefox works fine... Any Ideas?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
    When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Desktop screen hides safari web pages. How correct this?

    I made the mistake of fiddling with display resolution. After I did, my desktop screen hides Safari web pages and most of the address bar.
    In addition when using Safari and now Foxfire (which is not hidden) there is a border on the screen (fainter color than the rest of screen) which results in cursor hitting the border too often making the web page disappear. Apple Support, for which I paid, could not figure out how to fix this. Why would the border
    have developed.

    Do you mean running Firefox in full screen mode?
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-to-use-full-screen
    If you are in full screen mode then you can hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
    You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-to-use-full-screen
    You can also run Firefox in a maximized window to have easier access to the Menu bar and Navigation Toolbar.

  • Safari Displays Unexpected Date Value

    I want to use the following script in my company website www.todoroffs.com, in order to always display the current year value within my copyright notice at the bottom of the pages:
    <script>
         var today=new Date()
         var todayy=today.getYear()
         document.write(""todayy"")
         </script>
    Safari displays the value "105" while other browsers display the desired value "2005".
    Furthermore, I want to use the following script which is a variant of the first script:
    <script>
         var today=new Date()
         var todayy=today.getYear()
         document.write(""todayy-1914"")
         </script>
    Safari displays the value "-1809" while other browsers display the desired value "91".
    Is this a bug in Safari? Is there a work-around?
    Thank you.

    Hi iBod,
    I am not familiar with getFullYear( ).
    I modified my code as follows:
    Copyright © 1997–getFullYear( )
    Safari and others display it as:
    Copyright © 1997–getFullYear( )
    What is the proper syntax and format?
    Thank you.

  • Cannot display page

    Hi, whenever i go into my browser it comes up with the cannot display page message. I have just recently got Bigpond ADSL wi-fi. I can connect to the network that the router has made but I cant connect to the internet. If i directly connect my laptop to the router (via a ethernet cable) i can use the internet.
    Please reply ASAP as i need the internet.
    Thanks

    Go to your Network panel in System Preferences. There, click on the "Show" drop down menu>Network Port Configurations. Airport ought to be checked and at the top of the list (you can click/drag it there, if necessary). Other boxes ought to be unchecked.
    Select "apply".
    Next, click the "Show" drop down menu and select "Airport". Then go to either your TCP or PPP panel, depending on the ADSL set-up. There, IP address numbers ought to be assigned. Also, if you are using TCP, enter these codes in the DNS servers box:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Select "apply".
    Try Safari (make sure Airport is active in the Menu Bar - if it's not, make it active and select your wi-fi connection, which ought to be listed). Also, select "Use Interference Robustness".
    If you still cannot connect to the Internet, go back to the Network Panel and select "assist me". In the next panel, select "diagnostic". Go through the steps, answering the prompt questions. This will perhaps help get you connected. If there are changes, you'll need to select "apply" again in the Network panel.
    Try Safari. Post back with results.

  • How do you put safari web pages into icloud with the safari iCloud button?

    how do you put safari web pages into icloud with the safari iCloud button?

    What that button does is sync your tabs between your devices. So if you have multiple macs with Mountain Lion and/or devices with iOS 6 (once it comes out this fall) you can pick up where you left off. For example, let's say I have apple.com, nytimes.com, and facebook.com open on my mac, but I need to run. Later, if I need to use another computer in my household, I can just restore the tabs that I was using before on this other mac.
