Safari displays a very different website than others

We have one workstation in our workgroup that all of a sudden (last Friday) when you go to "Underground Weather" [www.wunderground.com], it goes to some generic worthless site instead of the real site. All other computers on the network will go to the proper site. Typing the URL in doesn't work either, it just pops back the this awful place. Tried cleaning out the cashe, cookies, pop-ups, and re-set Safari with no luck.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Mac G4 10.4, Safari 2.0.3

When you had this problem, did the bogus site look like a shopping site? Tag line something like "Weather Service... what you want when you want it"?
If the problem returns, while you're looking at the bogus site, open View> View Source and see if it looks different than your other machines looking at the same site.
My mac has been occasionally doing something similar since it was new (August) and I'm hoping someone can figure out the problem.

  • Safari displays a .qfx file rather than writing it

When I connect to my local bank and direct it to download my transactions record as a .qfx file, Safari displays the contents of the file on the window, rather than writing the data to a .qfx file. I do not see this behavior with FireFox. Java scripts are enabled.
I'm running OSX 10.9 on a MacBook Pro.

    Hi guys
Thanks for suggestions. Carolyn, I did as you suggested but didn't solve problem. KeeChan, as explained in original post, that is my usual fallback but not all web sites work like that. Try downloading Safari - right click (Ctrl Click) on download button and all you get is the "Download.png" image.
I finally found the answer. A long time ago I had downloaded and used "SpeedDownload" and had deleted it. Somehow, some trace of the app was left behind and the mime association with dmg files was messed up.
You can not get rid of Speed Download by throwing its files away or by using an app cleaner product. You MUST run the Speed Download installer program and select the "uninstall" option to remove it.
My browsers now download dmg files correctly.

  • Firefox is sending me to a different website than the one I'm trying to go to, I keep resetting Firefox but its becoming fustrating. How do I get it to stop?

Look this is going to sound pathetic, but i keep trying to get onto tumblr.com but no matter what i do it keeps sending me to Facebook.com. I've tried to go through google, yahoo, and bing but its still keeps sending me to facebook. none of my friends have ever had problems with firefox and untill the last two weeks neither have I. Resetting hasn't helped for very long and it's starting to make it so i have to reset every day.

  • Camera view and take a very different color than 1st gen iPhone-Pls advise

I'm new to the forum. I just recently purchased a 3GS for my wife as a gift.
I noticed her photos, especially indoor, appears more orange-tinted than my original 1st gen. iPhone. The difference is very noticeable when you put side by side for view and snap photo. Note: both phone is currently running on verion 3.0
Does anyone have sugestions as to adjust the white balance?
I dont want to take it back to iPhone store b/c it was jailbreak phone that I brought from an independent store.
    Any help is greatly appreciate.

Similar experience to Salgw here. On the 3GS photos are markedly less warm and vibrant than my wife's OG iPhone, which gives consistantly great results. On the 3GS using the photoshop app one can adjust values to approach a better image, a cumbersome process.
Still, is there a simple workaround to get images like the OG iPhone produced? Is there even an app that does this w/o much fussing around?

  • Slow GDM - different issues than other posts

    Hi all,
GDM is slow to start (compare to what it use to be) the issue is I can't pin point why, as I have made a lot of updates lately including moving to Grub2 and changing quite a few .pacnew today (I know I should do it right away...)
I seems however to be an issue with the nvidia driver (see below xorg.0.log for more information)
FYI I run dual screen with twinview
    Many thanks for your assistance,

  • How can I get rid of malware that redirects to a different website than requested, i.e. Price Grabber?

When I open Firefox, my default browser, another tab opens with shopping "deals" featured. If I search in Google and select from the list of results, I am often redirected to a different shopping channel.
Somehow this malware has gotten past my always-running virus checker and is not detected by Adaware or Search&Destroy.

Try running either of these malware scanners, they are considered to be aamongst the best:
    * Malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
    * SuperAntiSpyware - http://www.superantispyware.com
For particular information on Google re-direct virus see http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2010/02/remove-google-redirect-virus.html
Also check to see if an add-on is causing this behavior, for details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • Another Safari display problem - not the same as others

    Hello,
Has anyone seen this happen and know what is going on? This affects both Safari and Explorer but doesn't affect Camino or other browsers.
    Thanks.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Unfortunately it does not solve the problem. Anyway, this can't be just related to Safari cache as it seems to affect IE too. (Not that I'm using IE). On top of that, if I create a brand new user and go try it, it still looks the same. I doubt a brand new user would have a cache problem since there is no cache for that user yet!!
Is this exactly the kind of thing you saw with your problem? I wish your solution worked. For now, I've switched to using FireFox instead, but I'm nervous that this Safari behavior is just a pre-amble of something else that is wrong with my system.
    Thanks ... anyone else?

  • Why is the iPod touch considerably more expensive on Apple's own website than others?

For example the 32GB iPod touch is £249 on Apple but only £219 on both Currys and Argos, and cheaper again on Amazon?

If they are authorized resellers, then buying a new item should give you an item as good as anything you would get directly from Apple itself.  Authorized resellers meet strict contractual agreements with Apple to earn their authorized status, so the products they actually sell will be identical to the same item, sold new, at an Apple store.
Apple pricing is a bit of mystery often.  Resellers agree to a number of terms or limitations on how much they can alter the price as set by Apple itself, but I gather those limitations are different for different products.  Usually, for example, Apple computers vary little in price from Apple or any reseller, but resellers can bundle "extras" like RAM or hard drive upgrades over stock build, or software, to sweeten their offerings.
As you mention, iPods seem to be one of the most variable priced items, so maybe it is just a matter of Apple giving resellers more latitude with them over other products?

  • ITunes will not open-- different problem than others here...

I just purchased the iPod video and I went to apple.com to install the latest version. I went through all the standard prompts as usual. Finally, I get the message that i have downloaded successfully. I got to the iTunes icon on my desktop and after clicking, nothing happens. I get the hourglass and that's it. I've tried rebooting with no change. I even called the Applecare hotline to figure this out. The operator had me to uninstall and install iTunes again. Same thing happened and she was stumped. She told me to come here and ask someone what the problem could be. This is not my first iPod (i have the ipod photo) so I have a general idea of how this thing works. Just can't open the dadburn iTunes!!! I have all my music backed up on an external hard drive so i know my music is somewhere in pc limbo. Help me please!! Oh, and I do have Norton security if that makes much of a difference. Sorry for being so long winded.

It's a lot to shuffle through, but definitely worth it. You also may want to try, if available, to sign onto another XP user account and see if the same symptoms exist. This way you'll know if it's a more user-specific issue or if it's something system-wide. If you don't have another user, temporarily create one (with admin abilities, preferably), and give iTunes a go.
Hope this helps =) Let me know how everything goes.

  • Make hyperlink different color than others on page

I want to make a text hyperlink (in Comic Sans) white in all of its states while leaving the rest of the text links on the page the default blue. In Site Properties, I created a text hyperlink called FIND OUT MORE! making all states white, and bold text, but when clicking OK, nothing applies or changes for the text selected - still default blue. See image - want to change the hyperlinked text in the black box to white. Is this possible?
    Thank you!

I seemed to have solved this issue by ignoring the text within the box and making a hyperlink for the box which includes the text in the hyperlink. I didn't bother changing or deleting the hyperlink setting I created in Site Properties, though I don't think it has any bearing.

  • Why is page in Dashboard now displaying a different website? Hijacked?

I've been using the feature to display webpages in Dashboard, however one of these widigts is now displaying a completely different website (one i have NEVER visited). When i click on it the amazon page displays for a split second, then it defaults back to the anomalous page - as far as i can see a company called network solutions that says if i do not own the domain name, do i want to backorder it !?

There might be images and content on silkenfest.com which are stored on webpagescreenshot.info, so it needs to connect to silkenfest along with the other website in order to load the main website and its images. silkenfest.com is just a slow website and it probably has nothing to do with webpagescreenshot.info. The same thing appears on my screen when I load the website. When you visit websites, a lot of other websites actually load in the background. For example, if you visited YouTube.com, it would also connect to ytimg.com to load the video thumbnails since they are stored on there and google.com because YouTube uses Google Accounts.

  • Google, Yahoo, and very random websites will not open

Google.com will not open, yahoo will not open and anything google- or yahoo-related will not open (including their search engines, which is killing me) as well as very random websites. Other websites open immediately. This is happening exactly the same on both Firefox and Safari.
Mac OS 10.6.8. The other iMac in the house (OS 10.7.5) is working fine as well as our Macbook, iPad, and three iPhones. I believe the problem started after we changed Verizon modems and wi-fi networks, but I cannot be sure, and I don't understand why the other devices/machines would not also be effected. There is no spyware that I know of  installed on this problem machine. When I do a repair verification on the Utility Disk I get a lot of messages that read in different variations of the following: Warning:SUID file"System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contens/MacOs/Ar dAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired.

It is the same with the other accounts on the machine, but not with any other Mac device in my house, including another iMac. I'm going to reword the question more clearly below, so that maybe others will have a solution. Thank you very much for your effort, Old Toad.

    What I've done so far:
Cleared all history on, and reset, both browsers.
Run a "repair disk permissions" on the Utility Disk and I've received many messages that read in different variations of the following: Warning:SUID file"System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contens/MacOs/Ar dAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Cleared the caches in my hard drive Library and Users Library folders (the Internet is now faster for the sites that do work)

  • Firefox 4 having trouble correctly displaying images on some websites

This problem started in the last few days. The JPEG thumbnails and in some cases larger JPEGs on certain websites is corrupted. Sometimes the whole image is looks very "blocky" and sometimes the first 10-30% of the image displays correctly and the rest is distorted and/or displays with weird colors.
I am using Firefox 4.0.1 on three different computers and it happens on all three! One computer is Windows 7 64-bit and the others are Windows XP SP3.
I have updated video drivers - no change. Two computers have Nvidia video, the third has some cheesy old integrated graphics.
The problem happens with Firefox in Safe Mode, and it happens (with both laptops) when I go to different WiFi hotspots.
It happens no matter how I set the color management.
I have cleared caches and cookies ... I have disabled my antivirus program ... no difference.
I have disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox - no difference.
Reloading the affected web page page does not change the problem. But I can copy the URL and paste it into IE9 and the page '''always displays correctly!''' Now, that should make you guys worry!

Sometimes it is that corrupted, sometimes less corrupted, but usually not at all corrupted. I'm using Firefox 7.0.1 and been having this problem since upgrading to Firefox 4.
Here are two images, which showed as corrupted. But later, atleast rebooted, but no Firefox or any other cache etc. cleaned, the first picture shows as it should be. The second picture still shows as corrupted, but when opening the second link when using private browsing, it shows as it should be.
