  • Firefox does not save my settings when I reboot

I have Windows 7 Ultimate. I was having problems with Firefox 3.6.16 crashing to the point where it wouldn't work. I uninstalled it and downloaded version 4 but had problems with it hanging all the time. I went through the help section, one of the things I did that was recommended was to delete my sessionstore files and any extra copies. I think there were three of them. I deleted them all but Firefox 4 still was hanging.
I uninstalled 4 and reinstalled 3.6.16 again. Everything seems to be working okay except when I reboot or restart my computer it does not save all of my password logins or any special settings on websites I visit all the time. So every time I start my computer I have to log into all my sites again, and I have a lot of them so this is really a pain. I'm not sure if this has to do with deleting the sessionstore files or not. I checked and I do have one sessionstore file instead of three.
Not sure what else to try. If I leave my computer on I stay logged in to all my sites and my preferences on those sites are maintained. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

I have tried to make a backup of the bookmarks file. Renamed the old one and called the backup "bookmarks.html".
The places.sqlite file is not "secured" (there does not exist a "locked" attribute in the general tab on the Mac), so I assume it is not locked.
Nothing seems to work. Possibly I can best uninstall Firefox and try to reinstall it, or does that not solve the problem.
Otherwise I go back to Safari :-)

  • Kate does not save my settings

    Hi,
I can't get Kate to save my settings.
I open kate tell it to load all plugins and extensions and they all work. But when I  quit Kate and return to it i have to go and reload them all again.
    How can this be solved?
    Thanks.

    same problem here
    EDIT: Found a fix
    1) Open up kate and configure your settings (plugins, etc...)
    2) Go to Session -> Save as Default
    3) Go to Settings -> Configure Kate > Application -> Session
    4) CHECK Load-last used sections under Behavior of Application Startup

  • Still can not find a resolution to why safari does not save passwords

anyone have a link or resolution to this problem, all i find is people hacking around for solutions or saying it started with Leo, and worse off some even suggest to use another browser while claiming safari is a world class browser.
why would osx cause such issues anyway.
Please do let me know if there is some solution.

    HI,
Check Safari/Preferences and select the AutoFill tab.
Make sure User names and Passwords is selected.
When you go to a web site that requires a login, you'll be asked if you want to save the username and password, either Allow or Always Allow. Click Always Allow.
Your usernames and passwords are stored in your Keychain Access application. (Applications/Utilities)

  • Export as pdf from safari does not save correctly

I used to be able to print a page and save it as pdf. When I do this the page saved is blank. What is going on? This is since updating to Mavericks.

It happened in Firefox as well and the preview image in the print dialog box was blank. Trashing two adobe pdf plug ins from the /libraryInternet/plug-ins fixed my issue. I am not sure if this will cause me issues in Adobe Creative Suite but so far it looks okay. I am not sure what you mean by /applications/utilities/console How do I get look at the console? I opened the application and I have no idea what to make of the Console.

  • Subtree generation does not save its settings. Supertype-Subtype-RollUp needed.

    Hello OTN-Network,
currenty we are investigating whether we will use Oracle SQL Data Modeler in a new data warehouse project.
As we are working with the top-down approach, we plan to start with the Logical Model which contains super-sub-type-hierarchies.
We tested this functionality and were able to derive from Logical Modell to a Relational Model but we are unable to use the settings described the the entity properties "Subtypes -> Subtree generation".
We would like to do a "Supertype-Subtype-RollUp". When changing the settings they are not saved and set to the default "Do not present". In our example two subtypes have one supertype in common,
which is definied as "Super Type" in the properties.
Could you pls. tell me how to achieve that attributes etc. from subtypes are rolled up to one single table?
Do not hesitate to come back in case of any queries.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
how to achieve that attributes etc. from subtypes are rolled up to one single table?
Implementation of elements(types) of entity hierarchy depends on "Engineer To" flag - if it's set for related relational model then enity will be implemented as table. So for single table you need that flag set only for super-type (or root of hierarchy) and not checked for all subtypes.
"Subtree generation" is not a property, it's functionality allowing easy set up of "Engineer to" property for edited entity and its sub-tree. This is why it's always on "Do not preset".

  • Mac does not save settings.

Hi, I'm new here (I haven't got my mac for a long time either), so please bear with me!
I have a problem with many programs, namely my mac does not save the settings.
Word: The change of default Czech language into Polish is not permanent. Czech comes back after the restart.
Ableton: The authorisation of the program is withdrawn when I switch the laptop. I have to authorise it again after every restart.
Cubase: It changes audio input and audio output back to internal speakers and microphone after the restart.
Additionally, for example, I have changed the preferences of video files. I have changed the default player from QuickTime to VLC. Restart undoes the changes.
Has anyone have a similar problem?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line on this page to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?
If you don't have read and write access to the item, change the settings as directed here. Note, however, that if one file has wrong access settings, most likely others do as well. If the item is locked, unlock it.

  • Why is my Apple ID not working in iTunes and App Store on my iPhone? Nothing happens if I click buy for apps or music. If I then go to settings/iTunes App Store my Apple ID is not there. If I then enter ID and password it does not save or link to account?

Why is my Apple ID not working in iTunes or App Store on my iPhone? When I try to buy apps or music it asks for Apple ID so I enter my info and nothing happens. When I go to settings/iTunes App Store my Apple ID is not there. When I enter my ID and password it does not save or link to account. I do not have this problem with iPad ID is stored and can be used in App Store and iTunes. I have just upgraded to 5c and it's still a problem.

When fist setting up your new iphone you will be asked to log in with an apple id and password. If this did not happen you can then do as you suggested going to settings to itunes and app store and add your apple id login. This apple id login must have already been created for the iphone to accept it. If this apple id is already created but is not being accepted by your iphone you then should shut down your iphone and restart the device.
    Good luck.

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.

I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
