Safari doesn't accept password when connected wireless

Hello,
I have just installed a new N wireless router and I have a strange behavior with Safari Version 5.0.3 (6533.19.4) on Mac OS X 10.6.6.
When I try to connect through the wireless connection to the router, Safari asks for the password and the displays the following message:
"The user name or password you entered for this area on 192.168.0.1:80 was incorrect. Make sure you’re entering them correctly, and then try again."
The strange thing is that if I connect with firefox or Opera, also through the wireless connection, it succeeds.
Even more, if I turn the wireless off and I connect through the Ethernet with Safari (Firefox and Opera as well), it works!
All this makes me think it is a problem in Safare or my MacBook Air.
Does anybody have any idea?
Thank you in advance!

Hi and welcome sursan ....
Open Airport Utility (Applications / Utilties)
Select Manual Setup. Select Airport in the menu at the top then select the Wireless tab. You should see your Wireless Network Name there.
Type in your WI FI password, Verify Password then *select the box* where you see:
Remember this password in my keychain.
Restart your Mac.

  • Mail continually asks for Password, Safari doesn't accept

I update today to Safari Version 5.0.2 (5533.18.5). After I did this I have not been able to access my university e-mail either through Mail or a web based access in Safari. Mail continually asks for my password, and Safari doesn't accept it. All my mail settings are correct. Firefox will not allow me to access e-mail through the web either.
I am desperate, can someone help me?

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details.

  • Keychain doesn't retrieve passwords when I need them.

Keychain doesn't retrieve passwords when I need them. It's turned on, and it suggests passwords as needed. How can I fix this problem? It's worse than losing passwords that I created myself.

    Hi balsamus,
It seems your passwords aren't autofilling. That does sound troublesome. You may want to review your autofill settings in Safari:
Safari 8 (Yosemite): If AutoFill doesn’t work
If AutoFill doesn’t work in Safari
If Safari isn’t automatically filling in information on websites, try these suggestions.
Choose Safari > Preferences, click Passwords, then make sure “AutoFill user names and passwords” is selected.
Note:    The “AutoFill user names and passwords” option in the Passwords pane is equivalent to “User names and passwords” in the AutoFill pane of Safari preferences. When you select one, the other is also selected.
Make sure any information you want to be filled in automatically is saved on your card in Contacts. Safari can only fill in contact information that’s on your card in Contacts. For example, if a form requires your phone number, but it isn’t on your card, you must fill it in manually.
Make sure the webpage has fields AutoFill can complete.
Safari may be unable to tell which fields are for user name and password, credit card number and expiration date, and so forth.
If AutoFill still doesn’t work, the website may not allow it.

  • Loop drops when connected wireless (NI 9191)

    Hi,
I cannot figure out why a NI cDAQ 9191 chassis has connection drops when connected wireless and works
    perfectly when connected thru LAN.
I wrote a little test VI to check the connection accuracy. The chassis has a NI 9375 I/O module plugged in.
A Moxa AWK3121 is used as wireles access point. What I do is check 5 digital inputs and control 3 digital outputs.
The outputs are continuously placed on/off at a different rate. I use an event loop and a main loopt that communicates
to the chassis at a loop rate of 10ms.
The chassis, laptop and Moxa A.P. are all close together on my desk. The Wifi signal is excellent.
Now, the code i written is probably not optimal.
But...  If I start with connecting the chassis with a LAN cable to my laptop, Wifi Disabled, Linked Local. The communication is perfect.
No drops between the loops and the real time.
No communication errors. Runtime was 52 minutes.
Second test. Connected the chassis to the Moxa A.P. with LAN cable. Laptop connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
Chassis still in Link Local. Ik can access the chassis in MAX. No problem.
When I run my test, I immediately see loop pauzes. After one minute there can be already a difference of 20 sec.
between calculated looptime and real time. Sometimes the active light on the chassis goes off and on.
When the active light is out, the loop is on hold. (Wich is normal as I assume the DAQ VI's are waiting for response.)
After appr.10 minutes the error -50405 "No Transfer in progress because transfer was aborted by client".
If I look at the timings there is already a difference of more then 5 minutes between the loop timing and the real time.
As last I tested with the chassis and the PC connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
I did not get the -50405 error, but again loop drops. After 10 minutes there was a shift of 2 minutes.
Has anyone experience with wireless connections with the NI 9191 chassis?
Can I change my code? Did I mis something? (I'm a newbie to Labview)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Frankie.

I am not clear on whether you are connecting the two together "in it's own little network" (which implies "router" and not "AP") or if you are connecting to the LAN through the wireless device (in which case it is entirely appropriate to refer to the wireelss device as an "AP").  Your last post about hot spots is what confused me.
But as you said, the biggest worry is the active light.  Try using a different router/AP.  I've seen routers overheat and reset themselves before due to inadequate heat sinking.  i.e., Someone (not me, I swear!) dropped the AP and knocked the heat sink off the chip.
As for the delay, if you are indeed using the Moxa as an AP, are you sure you're connecting to your AP?  If you're connected to a hotspot instead, your throughput will be at least halved - and maybe even 1/4 bandwidth if your AP happens to have connected to a different hotspot than you did.  If you are using it as a router, try differnt bands or channels to see if you can get around any interference your company wireless network might be generating.
In general, conclude that wireless isn't the best way to connect test devices together.

  • HT4061 Forget  iPhone password, when connect to computer "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a pass code. You must enter pass code on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."

Forget  iPhone password, when connect to computer "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a pass code. You must enter pass code on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."

You have to restore it using a computer with iTunes per the knowledge base article above.
With iOS 7, if you have Find My Phone turned on you can login to iCloud from a computer and send an erase signal to the iPhone to clear it...that will erase all content and settings.

  • Safari Page Won't Load When Connected to Plasma TV as Monitor

I am a new Mac user and was hoping someone could help me with this issue. I have a MacBook Pro 13" laptop running Mac OS X (10.6.2) and the latest version of Safari (4.0.4) and when I connect it to my Plasma TV using the displayport to DVI adaptor, Safari pages never load. It just shows loading and finally gives an error stating that the server can't be found. If I immediately unplug the external display and reload the page, it loads fine. All other applications function and display fine. The resolution of the monitor is 1024 x 768. I have also connected the laptop to my HP 20" monitor using the same connection and everything works fine. Its resolution is 1280 x 800. My ISP is Comcast and it is being delivered using a linksys wireless router. Does anyone have any insight as to why this is happening or what I am doing wrong? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, SockMonkeyGirl.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to use your internet based applications when connected to the Comcast network only.  I would recommend making sure that this Comcast network settings are updated to the recommend as outlined below.  Also make sure that all firewalls are disabled as well.

  • Why doesn't friend's pc connect wirelessly to my Airport Extreme?

A friend's HP Pavillion zd7000 (laptop) does not connect to my Airport Extreme.
I have two other laptop pc's connecting just fine wirelessly to the Airport Extreme.
Also, I have an iMac connecting just fine wirelessly to the Airport Extreme.
My friend's pc DOES detect the wireless network, but it does not connect to the wireless network after I click on "connect".
As a test, I took my friend's pc to a PC repair shop that I use; and I found it connected just fine to the wireless network there - so I brought it home again.
I've re-typed the network password numerous times. Caps lock is off.
The 'Wireless Network Connection' window just says "waiting for network", and after a few minutes searches for available networks.
    Repairing the connection doesn't work.
Removing the wireless network in Wireless Connection 3 Properties/Wireless Networks and then starting all over again results in the same situation.
I'm using WPA2 security setting on the Airport Extreme. My friends pc shows that as WPA-PSK. Anyway, I don't want to mess about with the Airport Extreme settings and risk messing up the working wireless connections with the other three computers.
I don't know what else to do.

Having Bonjour installed hasn't made a difference. I mean my friend's pc still does not connect to my wireless network.
Poking around in the Norton AntiVirus interface on the pc, hoping for possible clues, I saw the following:
After I click to make NAV produce a 'Netwok Map', a pop up window states "Devices on your network are not responding. Would you like to try again?"
Also, in the NAV Log Viewer, under Internet Worm Protection, under Activities,I see recent instances of preparations by several applications to connect to the internet, including Bonjour, NAV, and elements of Windows. Of course none of them are succeeding in connecting.

  • WRT54G router locks up when connecting wirelessly to a Samsung Blue Player

My WRT54G  router locks up 100% of the time when attempting to connect connect wirelessly to a Samsung Blue Player (Model number BD-P3600). I can connect to it with a cable no problem, but when I attempt to do so wirelessly and type in the password on the Blue Ray player, it attempts to connect but the router locks up and all devices connected to it (wired or wirless) lose connectivity. Any ideas?

    Try the following steps:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
    # Then Click on wireless Tab select Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, and 11. Click Save Settings.
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 50
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
    Then check the connectivity status..

  • Officejet Pro L7780 locks up when connected wirelessly

I'm trying to set up my iPad to print to an Officejet Pro L7780. Prior to beginning this effort, we were able to print to this computer through an ethernet connection no problems.
However the printer won't function once it connects wirelessly - locks up entirely. Can't get iPad, PC w/Vista, or a PC with XP to recognize the printer on the wi-fi network. And, printer button functionality is gone, including the power button. Any suggestions?

  • Wifi - Touch doesn't accept password but then connects anyway...

    I've just bought a 32gb 3rd gen Touch.
When trying to connect to my home network after entering the network password I get "Unable to connect to the network 'Network name'". When I dismiss this message for some reason the Touch then connects to the wi-fi perfectly. However the connection seems to get lost everytime the Touch is left for a few minutes and 'goes to sleep'. The password then needs to be entered again to reconnect - with the same problem again...
For what it's worth a friend was able to connect his 2nd gen Touch with no problems to my home wi-fi connection which makes me think it's not a problem with router settings.
My Touch connects fine to the wifi network in the Apple Store in London (which does not need a password). Following discussion with a member of staffthere I've tried turning on MAC filtering, but this makes no difference.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Dan T (Lon) wrote:
Agreed - I think the router is the problem - the user in from the above link who's having the same problem as me is also on Orange broadband with a Siemens Gigaset SE572.
The only thing that is slightly odd is that a friend of mine had no problems at all connecting to my wireless with his 2nd gen Touch...
I find that odd, considering you say you have MAC address filtering turned ON... that should mean that any friends would NOT be able to connect at all! Maybe the Siemens MAC address filtering is buggy and affecting how you connect with the WPA password... wipe out all devices in the MAC address list AND turn it OFF. Do BOTH in case it's flaky... then reboot router to be sure.
I've seen my Netgear do some very strange things with two seemingly unrelated settings were activated in combination. I've also seen my Belkin act like a firewall between wired & wireless devices on the same side of the LAN! (known bug for that model rev).
You also have no problem connecting your iPod to other Wifi networks which would again point to your router.
This Siemens Router is also a DSL modem? If so, another option you might have is to go in and turn off the wifi entirely... just use the Siemens as a DSL modem... then connect a brand new wireless router to your LAN to handle the Wifi traffic.
    SIDENOTES:
Ideally, as stated before, MAC address filtering is useless as a security measure. Leave it OFF to reduce complexity... then use a WPA2 password for maximum secure data encryption.

  • Encrypted drive will not accept password when re-mounting via Disk Utility

I have used the 'whole disk encryption' on one of my external HDDs.  Sometimes i eject the drive when i don't need it because it's in a 4bay housing along with 3 other drives.  I do this because OSX wakes up all my drives even for mundane tasks like safari browsing or even looking for a dictionary definition. But anyway, my problem is if i want to re-mount that encrypted drive from disk utility (left mouse click on greyed out drive and re-mount) it does not accept my password.  I get the little shake like i typed it in incorrectly.  Anyway, i tried it like a dozen times and received a dozen shakes of negativity.
If i swith off the drive unit and swith back on again the password is accepted just fine..
Can anyone else test this so i can mark it up as a Lion bug?  Or is there something else i need to try?
    Thanks
    Si

  • Can't recall password when connecting 2 Macs via Firewire (Snow Leopard)

In Leopard I used to be able to connect my iMac and my Macbook to each other with a Firewire cable and share/move large files between them. Since the upgrade to Snow Leopard when I connect the two machines up I'm prompted to enter a password which I can't recall setting. I've tried all my usual password variants to no avail
Is there anyway I can find the password that I set or can I change one of them?
EDIT: If I connect as a Guest I can see the shared folder on my machines (I have Filesharing turned on). An easy workaround would probably be to add the folders I need to play with to the Filesharing list but I'm more concerned about the password issue

Essentially I am connecting the 2 Macs to each other with a Firewire cable. In Finder, under Shared, I can see my Macbook and I can connect as a guest but the password that should work simply doesn't
