Safari doesn't open links properly

hello.
I have a problem with Safari on my Pismo Powerbook G3 - latest version with Mac OS X 10.4.8. The problem looks as follows: when i click on a link on a webpage, page goes blank, the link does not open, i can see no title at the current tab i'm browsing in (as i mostly browse with 3-4 tabs open) and all i can see in the address bar is the text "Go to this address". It always happen when browsing Apple Discussions, whenever i click next to see the next page of posts, this thing happens. Anyone seen that before ? How to fix it? Thanks for all of your suggestions.

It depends on the website. Some websites have it set up to take you to a new tab, some do it in the same tab.

  • IPhone Safari doesn't open links in new page

Under iPhone Safari Settings, I've got it set to Open Links In New Page, but when I click on links in Safari, that doesn't happen. When I set it to Open Links In Background, that doesn't happen either. Links open in the same page no matter what the setting.
Anyone know how this can be fixed? Thanks.

  • Clicking on document link opens Safari, but Safari doesn't open link

For some time -- even before upgrading to OS10.8 -- I've been having an issue with Safari. I receive links in emails or other documents, click on them, and when Safari opens, it fails to load the link. Sometimes I see the URL appear in the address bar for a moment, but it vanishes and I am left with a blank "Untitled" Safari page. If I then click on the email (or other) reference link again -- now with Safari open -- everything works fine. I've not seen this reported as a problem by anyone else so am wondering if I have a software conflict. There are two programs running from within Safari, one is 1Password (although that requires a manually entered password to open) and the other is Norton Identity. Perhaps one of those is a culprit. Anyone else seen this behavior?

More than likley, Norton is the culprit. Norton software has caused so many Mac users problems over a long period of time.
Results from an Apple Support Communities search for Norton > Community Search: Apple Support Communities
Follow the instructions at the Symantec/Norton site for uninstalling Norton Identity.
As for one 1Password. Using the pre installed Apple native Keychain Access utility is much better to use than third party. Keychain Access is located in HD > Applications > Utilities.
Remove Norton Identidy first, restart your Mac and try opening a link from email to test.

Safari doesn't open after i updated it to 1.6.8

    Reinstall Safari 5.1.2
    Then restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, you may have a third party add on that was compatible with the prior version of Snow Leopard, but not 10.6.8.

And try Safari in another user account. If you can't open Safari there as well, that's an indication the startup disk may need repairing.
Log back in to your admin account, launch Disk Utility. That's located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)

I recently had some repairs done to my ATT U-verse connection, and now my Safari doesn't open in a full screen.  How do I reset that to open in full screen?

Mountain Lion is set up to close windows when you quit a program instead of saving them. To change this, put Safari in full-screen mode, move the cursor to the top, open Safari menu while holding Option key and close Safari from the menu.
If you want to do it automatically with all programmes, open System Preferences > General, and deactivate "Close windows when quitting an application"

    Grts!

    Hi Chuck,
As suggested above, what does Grab do when you try to open it?
If the Grab icon appears in the Dock then it "is" open. Grab is a funny little utility in that there is no "window" that opens when you open Grab. The top menu bar though, will change to the Grab menus. In these menus you can go to the Capture menu for what you are trying to do.
On the other hand, if you are saying that the application just bounces in the Dock or does nothing or opens to immediately quit, this is another kettle of fish?
Perhaps if you can post back with what actually happens when you try to open Grab we can try to get to the bottom of it.

    Hi everybody,
since I have installed Mac OS X Lion, Safari doesn't open in start page. It opens always at the last page I was at least. What can I do?

Near the bottom uncheck the box that says “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps”

    Hello John...
You may have a Safari third party add on installed that was compatible with the previous version of Safari but not 5.1. Try troubleshooting > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • Snownews not opening links properly in Chromium

I have an issue with Snownews not being able to open links properly. My ~/.snownews/browser file just has "chromium %u" in it.
What happens when I open a link is that it opens a new tab in an existing Chromium window and tries to load some seemingly random class A IP address that I cannot ping, and then it eventually times out.
