Safari doesn't open many websites

I discovered that Safari si unable to open quite few websites while IE can.
Why Apple has this limitations, even with iChat, cannot be used with PC users for example. Is there a browser who can handle all sites ? Your suggestions welcome

First off, iChat works perfectly fine with Windows users.
Secondly, it's up to the site admin, NOT Apple, to make sites work across all platforms and browsers. I'd say that 95% of sites out there are compatible with Internet Explorer, while some even block Internet Explorer and force you to use a Mozilla based web browser.
So in short, there is no browser that will allow you to view every site on the web and it's up to that site's administrator and web designer to make it compatible across platforms and browsers.
Hope this helps,
-Ryan

I have experienced the same problems Brand new iMac for Christmas came with Tiger installed did and update to Leopard that came with the computer. Can't connect to certain websites and some won't load the associated graphics, i.e. apple.com, yahoo.com, and gmail. Called Apple support they suggest resetting safari, worked for a couple of hours. Called back and they suggested power off iMac disconnect the cat5 from the computer, power down the router, power down the dsl modem, wait 3 minutes. Then restart the modem, router and then connect the cat. They explained that this would help the iMac correct the problem of connecting to the DNS server. This solution was also short lived, a few hours. I also have experienced problems associated with servers in Mail and iTunes. total time on phone with support including wait time 3 hours. This is getting old. Any ideas on workarounds I am happy to try. I will download firefox and give that a try. I have two other laptops one windows, and the other a MacBook and have not problems connecting to the internet.

  • Safari doesn't open after i updated it to 1.6.8

Safari doesn't open after i updated it to 1.6.8

    Reinstall Safari 5.1.2
    Then restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, you may have a third party add on that was compatible with the prior version of Snow Leopard, but not 10.6.8.

And try Safari in another user account. If you can't open Safari there as well, that's an indication the startup disk may need repairing.
Log back in to your admin account, launch Disk Utility. That's located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)

  • Safari doesn't open Pop-up & Script Windows?!

Why Safari doesn't open Pop-up & Script Windows?
I always have to use other browsers like Firefox for opening them
    Example link (Download Datasheet):

    Can anyone help please?

With Safari open, from the Menu Bar click Safari. Where says; Block Pop Up windows, Deselect that.
Keep in mind pop up windows can contain malicious code.

  • Safari won't open secure websites

Since installing Mountain Lion my Safari will only open https websites about 25% of the time. I get the message "can't establish secure connection"..... I close Safari and reopen and at times it will work for a short while. Other times I have to restart the computer. The problem always returns after a while.
It never did this before I installed Mountain Lion. Any ideas?

1Password or Trusteer's Rapport security software could be causing Safari to not be able to access https sites.

  • I recently had some repairs done to my ATT U-verse connection, and now my Safari doesn't open in a full screen.  How do I reset that to open in full screen?

I recently had some repairs done to my ATT U-verse connection, and now my Safari doesn't open in a full screen.  How do I reset that to open in full screen?

Mountain Lion is set up to close windows when you quit a program instead of saving them. To change this, put Safari in full-screen mode, move the cursor to the top, open Safari menu while holding Option key and close Safari from the menu.
If you want to do it automatically with all programmes, open System Preferences > General, and deactivate "Close windows when quitting an application"

  • Safari doesn't open on my Ibook G4

    Hi Chuck,
As suggested above, what does Grab do when you try to open it?
If the Grab icon appears in the Dock then it "is" open. Grab is a funny little utility in that there is no "window" that opens when you open Grab. The top menu bar though, will change to the Grab menus. In these menus you can go to the Capture menu for what you are trying to do.
On the other hand, if you are saying that the application just bounces in the Dock or does nothing or opens to immediately quit, this is another kettle of fish?
Perhaps if you can post back with what actually happens when you try to open Grab we can try to get to the bottom of it.

    Hi everybody,
since I have installed Mac OS X Lion, Safari doesn't open in start page. It opens always at the last page I was at least. What can I do?

    Try this:
    Open ‘System Preferences’
Locate and open the ‘General’ menu
Near the bottom uncheck the box that says “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps”

    Hello John...
You may have a Safari third party add on installed that was compatible with the previous version of Safari but not 5.1. Try troubleshooting > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
FYI... this is a user to user forum. If you can't resolve the issue, information for contacting AppleCare  here.
