Safari doesn't work with yahoo mail: always getting beach ball

I recently encountered this problem in my new Mac BookPro. Itstarted my safari showing me the beach ball constantly in any web page (I always have the yahoo mail open in one tab). Now, since couples of days ago, every time I opened my yahoo e-mail after I click on the inbox the beach ball appears and never goes away. Even after I close the yahoo e-mail tab and I try to go back to any other web page tab I had open I get this message:
"Web pages are not responding. To reload this webpage, all pages in other tabs and windows must also be force reloaded. Do you want to reload this page?
Force reloading might cause you to loose information you have entered"
The yahoo mail works perfectly on google chrome so is a safari problem. I have no idea what to do since this is my first Mac and I am not very knowledgeable about them. Any suggestions please?
Thanks very much

Could be a third party Safari add on causing the beachballs, troubleshooting help here >  Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • "Reply To Sender" doesn't work with Yahoo Mail. Works OK in IE, so the problem is with Firefox. Please fix this NOW!

'Reply to Sender' only works with some emails. For example, with emails that appear to be identical except for the user name one will work OK with Reply To Sender and the next will not. For example, using Reply To Sender with [email protected] will work fine, but trying Reply To Sender with [email protected] doesn't work. I just get a blank email page with nothing on it. I have a laptop and a desktop and they both have the same problem. I've tried all of the suggestions for making changes in the various sections of the Tools Menu but nothing works. Email works fine in IE. I'm running Win7.

First, I would try disabling any Add-ons like Adblock Plus, or NoScript.
    Second, possibly try disabling anti-virus
Third, if that didn't do it, I would then Restart FF in Safe Mode, and see if that worked.
Then, re-enable each individually, to see which is causing it.

  • Default Mail app not working with yahoo mail. Won't update.

Default Maill app not working with Yahoo Mail.
It stopped working the other day. I tried everything but it wouldn't update new mail. The yahoo account itself is fine because I can see new mail on Yahoo or a yahoo app.
I tried deleting the account and putting it back on, but now it has 0 mail in any part of it. Nothing has synced.
    What do I do?
    iPad 2 latest OS.

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

I have had the problem of Yahoo! mail freezing (my computer freezing) with Firefox right after I boot up my computer and sign into my Yahoo! mail account. I have to either shut down my computer or use Control + Alt and press Delete to eventually bring up the Task Manager option. Then, once the choice for Task Manager comes up, I can click on cancel and Yahoo! mail and my computer have "un-frozen." I have followed all the recommendations for updating Firefox, clearing caches, checking if an Add-On is the problem, etc., as well as all the recommendations on Yahoo! help pages. Nothing has improved the situation to date. Firefox info says the problem is with Yahoo! Yahoo! says it is a browser problem. I just want the problem to be fixed.

  • I tried Firefox 4.0, and it doesn't work with Yahoo. Until you find a fix, I have to stay with 3.6

I tried Firefox 4.0, and it doesn't work with Yahoo. Until you find a fix, I have to stay with 3.6

    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

Or you can revert to 3.6.16. <br />

I can not view my Yahoo mail
    I can’t compose a message
Once I’ve signed into my mail that’s all that works
I can’t view any of my mail entries nor can I view my address book

Performing your action again in a few moments will solve the problem. If it persists we suggest you re-lauch Yahoo! Mail.
    I re-launch nothing happens
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The Yahoo Mail Beta version does not work for me. Same error as you are getting. I use the Yahoo regular version and it works great for me.

  • Why did my email auto fill quit working with Yahoo mail?

This week my e-mail address auto-fill quit working with AT&T Yahoo, but still works when using the Safari browser on my Mac. Actually found 22 posts dating back to a year ago for people having the same problem, so guess this is ongoing and happening randomly. Is there a fix, or do I have to abandon Firefox and go back to using Safari?

I have this question too. My iphone 5 is new from t-mobile, and I restored it from my own backup on my factory-new laptop. I am curious who this person is, and whether my "new" iphone may actually be refurbushed?

  • Safari doesn't work with Mountain Lion

I have installed OS X Mountain Lion. Now Safari and Apple Store doesn't work anymore. :-( What can I do? I've tried to Install Safari again but the problem is always the same!

Generally this will solve it, you can also try repairing permissions, once in a while it will help as well:
Repair your permissions.  Go to applications then to the "other" folder then go to disk utility, on the left hand side you will see a white box.  Select the second option, usually called "mac HD" with that selected click on "repair permissions" in the center towards the bottom of the screen.  Wait for it to complete, then see if this fixes the issue.

Having to change from MSN.com In e-mail with MSN the tab key worked fine. When using Firefox to access my new e-mail accounts on q.com I can no longer use the tab key. Doesn't work. ZIP. Nadda. I often have to send e-mails that have columns of figures and the tab key makes it easy. Tab key doesnt work if acessing hotmail either from FireFox. Wokrs ok from MSN/hotmail. This makes me think the problem is FireFox.

  • Safari doesn't work with some websites

When i went on Comcast.net from my iPod Touch, it said that this website doesn't support your current browser, please use one of the listed browser. one of which was Safari! and i was using Safari! How do i get it to work?

This is a Comcast issue, they appear to have designed the website to only work with Safari for computers and not for Safari on the iPhone.
Basically the Comcast website will be looking for the browser type when you go to the site and it is not recognising the iPhone Safari browser as a valid browser they support.
Nothing you can do about it other than contacting Comcast to tell them, or you can select the link lover on the Comcast page that says " I don't want to upgrade- take me to Comcast.net"

  • Yahoo Messenger doesn't work in Yahoo Mail since Firefox's newest update

I have some friends on Yahoo Messenger via Yahoo Mail. If they have the newest version of messenger, since Firefox's most recent update I can't chat with them in a window or tab. Sometimes when I click their name to chat nothing comes up. Other times two tabs open up. The one continues to try to load. The second one looks normal but won't let me chat with them. Please help.

Already asked a ton of times, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014 (regression in FF9, use FF10 beta if you want)

  • Safari 6534.50 hangs with Yahoo mail.

This happens about 75% of the time. Command Q will exit and allow another try. Must be some kind of Javascript loop or something like that. Fan speeds up too. Yahoo mail page will open but cursor does not change to a pointer to allow selecting inbox.

This happens about 75% of the time
Instead of accessing your Yahoo mail via Safari, there's another way and you'll avoid the "loop".
Open Mac Mail. From the Mail menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click + under the Accounts panel on the left.
Enter your name, Yahoo user name and password then click Create.
Now instead of using Safari to access your Yahoo mail, just click the Mail icon in your Dock, or you can launch Mail from the Applications folder.

  • HT4864 Tried HT4864 but it doesn't work with other mail clients

Migrated to iCloud and using iOS5.1 and Lion on main boxes but I also have older kit. https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864 indicates I should be able to use standard IMAP clients to access my email (e.g. older OSX, etc) but they all fail to connect and it keeps asking for password (which hasn't changed).
I tried a free iCloud account to pre-test issues and that worked right off with other clients (SL, L, etc) but now I can't use my MobileMe main account on anything other than the web or Lion/iPhone.
If HT4864 is incorrect then please update it or remove it ... very irritating.
    Thanks
    Neil

    Hi
Yes thanks - this is the exact same link I was pointing to. This works perfectly if I create an icloud account from scratch. It doesn't work when I migrate a MobileMe account to iCloud. There is something about having a @mac.com account which became a @me.com and then migrate to icloud is then different.
The @mac.com account does work OK in iCloud but I have not found any combination of parameters which lets me access the exact same account using Snow Leopard, Thunderbird or Entourage - they all compain about the password (same password works perfectly with iCloud, etc).
Something broken in Apple's migration scripts ....
    Thanks
    Neil

  • The latest safari will not work with yahoo games

I just followed the latest updates from Apple to Safari and now I can't play any Yahoo games. The first notice said to reload Java which I did and it still will not work. I am very dissapointed in Apple for this, being a 20 plus year customer. And there does not seem to be an easy way to figure this out.

Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo) will reinstall any missing system files.
Then restart your Mac and launch Safari.
Then go to Safari > Preferences > Security
    Make sure Java is selected.
It's ok to do this even though v10.7.5 is already installed.
