Safari dosen't restore the last session

Hello.I have a problem with Safari on my macbook air 2013.I have the last version of Safari and Mavericks osx.The problem is that I checked the box with "restore all windows from last session" and also "close windows when quoting an app" on system preferences/general but Safari dosen't restore the tabs when I press the red button(exit) and re-enter into the app. Safari opens a new window with top sites. Also I tried to "Reopen all windows from last session" on History but again the same issue, a new window appear but with top sites not with latest tabs.
I also tried many ways, including deselect close windows when quiting an app and deleting safari cache.
I use my computer for projects and usually I open many tabs but very often by mistake I press the red button to hide the window and all tabs disapear.
Thank you in advance
Alex

You can't restore a closed session.
You can try the History.

  • I downloaded Firefox but when I try ro use the site it does not do anything, just ask the question, do you want to restore the last session, what do you suggest I try?

I have repeated the download trying to solve the problem but I get the same results. I used to have Firefox and used it all the time, I do not know how I lost it, but one day the browser just quit. The bookark, favorite works just not the browser.

On the second issue, please see this thread on how to determine the cause of the JavaScript error: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/729606 Javascript pop errors stating: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help]
On the first issue, I haven't associated single letters with sites, so I'm not sure how that feature works. I usually type a few letters then arrow down or click on the one I want.

  • Firefox does not restore the previous session & the restore option in history is not given. this never happened until firefox 6, now 7. am I the only one having this problem, to restore the last session incl. the different group is very inconvenient..

I restart pc / firefox about once a day & this only happened recently. I hope you can fix this.

If this were just a Netflix problem, why can I access Netflix through Internet Explorer and not through Firefox? I've been using Firefox to access Netflix for at least the past year and starting yesterday (12/6/11) Firefox doesn't seem to recognize that Netflix exists. I've tried the suggested Firefox "help" which was of no help whatsoever and may even have made life more difficult in accessing other accounts. Anyone know how to contact Netflix or Firefox by phone?

How can I restore the last session of firefox without having a button or without using
    "chronicle/restore last session" ?
As a error-message I have got any button for restarting my last firefox session after reopening mozilla firefox once a time in the last days.
How can I fix this problem without any restart-button ?

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

  • Safari forgets all the windows of the last session if I start it with a link

On Preferences/General I selected Safari starts with all the windows of the last session and all works this way except for a situation: when I click on a web link when Safari is closed, (i.e. on Mail) and that link starts Safari, it forgets all previous session windows and opens ONLY the link window...
    Can I avoid this behaviour?

    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • Safari 5.1.7 resumes last session and freezes immediately

    Hello,
Upon the start of Safari, it resumes the last session and immediately freezes, showing the spinning rainbow and failing to load pages. None of the toolbar options can be accessed. I can only force quit. Restarting the computed accomplishes nothing.
I am running Mac OS 10.7.4 with Safari 5.1.7
    Thanks.

    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
Now restart your Mac, launch Safari.
From the Safari menu bar top of your screen, click Safari > Empty Cache
See if that made a difference...

  • How do I restore Firefox Last Session?

    After a crash: bp-1dc9064f-fcc3-44f8-9c04-e058d2120127
I missclicked Restore Session button and clicked on the New Session instead. Then I tried to click on the History -> Restore Last Session button but it was "grey" (i.e. inactive).
I thought it is some bug, so I took the common advice (Have you tried to turn it off and on?) and closed Firefox and run it once again. Now the button was active. So I clicked on it, but it just took me to the previous wrong session.
Realizing I'm in great trouble I googled and find out about Sessionrestore.js and Sessionrestore.bak ... but too late I read I have to close Firefox first and then edit those ...
So I renamed the backup, closed Firefox -> which just saved the session and overwrite the file ... open it ... and everything was doomed and screwed by me ...
I had opened about 300 tabs of unsaved (not in bookmarks) work from past few years ... URLs I do not have in bookmarks neither in history - as I simply do not close and reopen them ... Mainly a huge pile of important articles I was digging through.
I tried to search my local drive for some more backup files ... only one I came acroos with the name and date seeming to be old enough was: startupCache.4.little. Immediatly I made a copy of it, just to ensure I won't screw any single remaining chance to somehow restore my last session ...
Now if I remember it correct, after every single crash of Firefox, there's a report being send to Mozilla and in this report there should be included pages that were open during the crash.
So my question is: How to get to the data from this report? (ID above) And how to extract the URLs of the tabs opened during that crash from it?
Second question: Is there any other way of how to get to the data (URLs)?
PS: My history contains about 50.000 of URLs, I tried to dig through, but that was somewhat impractible ...
PPS: I tried to use the Shadow copy method -since I run Windows 7, but somewhat despite Drive Protection being On space assigned to it was 0% ...
It just seems to me that some higher power wanted really badly to wipe my Session off ... well if so I respect it, but if there just a tiny little bit of a chance to restore it I'M ONE BIG EAR!!!

I would recommend taking a look at this article:
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Mozilla_Crash_Reporter http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Mozilla_Crash_Reporter]
It should help you find the data, using your crash report number. Hopefully that contains what you need.

  • Tabs will not restore from last session in FF v30.0 Mac OSX

Was able to locate and copy onto external drive sessionstore.bak and sessionstore.js. Have not closed and re-opened FF yet. Please provide clear and easy to understand step-by-step instructions on restoring my last session in mac OSX (Mavericks).
Also, is there a way to see my tabs before they are restored to make sure they are there?

As I stated above, I already went to the profile folder and copied sessionstore.bak and sessionstore.js to an external drive (see first screen shot attached below).
I then set it to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" as you had instructed and then closed and re-opened FF and the only session that came up was the last one, not the previous one that has my lost tabs! Does the sessionstore.bak store tabs to previous sessions or does sessionstore.js??? The sessionstore.bak has a time stamp on it before I lost the tabs. I am also attaching a screen shot of the files in my profile folder now. Pls advise.

I opened Firefox accidentally so pressed cancel thinking it wouldn't open Firefox if I did that but it opened it up anyway but didn't restore my last session (which I needed) and now I can't find how to restore it - help!!!

You will find that bookmarking a page (clicking the star next to the address, or going into ''Bookmarks > Bookmark this page'' is precisely what you need to remember pages. It is a very widespread function in web browsers, and it is very ''very'' helpful in many situations, including remembering the location of pages you want to see later, providing easy access to pages you use frequently and other stuff too.
If you want to know about session restore, there's an helpful support article [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Session+Restore here] which I believe also has information on version 3.0. However, I do urge you, once again, to update, because older versions (including 3.0) are no longer maintained and have known security vulnerabilities. Besides, you will not loose any functionality at all (unless you are using add-ons that are no longer usable by newer versions, in which case you need to contact the add-ons' authors for support and ask them to update their software), it's free, and very easy to do.
If you need any further help at all, whatever it is, tips, troubleshooting, walkthroughs, feel free to ask here.

  • ¿Why can other users in my pc view and restore my last session even if they're not administrators?

my pc (OS Windows Vista) has 3 different users. today i closed my session and casually log on with another user, when i opened the browser i had the option to restore my last session so i did it and surprisingly it opened the last session (including the inbox of my email) of my administrator account. so, what should i do if i don't want to have more privacy?

Don't change the permissions on the Home folder or you might end up with various issues.
Open the Terminal and type this command:ls -ale /Users/username The folder with a single . at the end is your home folder. It should look like this drwxr-xr-x+ and the Access Control Lists (ACLs) that it prints below the home folder should be: 0: group:everyone deny delete
If you create a folder directly inside of your home folder, it will inherit the permissions of the home folder, except it won't use the same ACLs. You would need to change the permissions to match the other folders. The default permissions and ACLs are:ls -ale /Users/testuser/
    drwxr-xr-x+ 13 testuser staff 442 Apr 18 07:09 .

    0: group:everyone deny delete
    drwxr-xr-x+ 5 testuser staff 170 Jul 20 2008 Sites
0: group:everyone deny delete I did cut out some of the output. The first line is the home folder (indicated by a .) You'll also have the Users folder, . ., and some hidden files.
If you have any extra ACLs, that may be why she can see into the folders.

  • Firefox opens the last session automatically instead of opeming the homepage

The firefox is opening the last session(the tab/s i had open before i closed firefox) when i open a new window. pls reply fast!! and this is the second time i'm typing this stupid question becoz i pressed backspace and the page went back!!! D:

Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that that there are no longer Firefox or plugin-container processes left on the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Otherwise session restore will reopen the page(s) from the previous session.

  • How to get safari to open to the last page I was on and screens to enlarge automatically?

Hello, I just upgraded to the latest iMac version from my 2010 model, and whenever I close and open up safari it opens to top siotes instead of the last page I was on, and every time I open it I have to enlarge it myself by clicking the arrows in the top right. Same happens with everything else, like the app store. How do I change this so whenever I go to safari it opens to the last page I was on and has safari, app store, etc. have large screens right away? I set up my old iMac 3 years ago, and I guess I must've done something to have it do this, but I forgetn what I did. Thank you in advance

    Hello there, Clumn.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some general tips for Mavericks that may address your issue:
    OS X Mavericks: General preferences
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph13803
    Particularly of note:
Close windows when quitting an application
If you quit apps with windows still open on your screen, selecting this checkbox prevents the windows from reopening automatically the next time you start their app.
This feature when not selected will allow the application to reopen windows automatically when you open the app.
Additionally, this article provides information on how to set windows Full Screen:
OS X Mavericks: Take apps full screen
