Safari file attachments from same Finder Folder?

Hello,
I am attaching multiople files from the same folder to different emails using gmail. I do not use any email programs on my iMac. Everything is virtiual.  I don't want to  have go through all my file toggles to get to the folder I am working from every time, which is what I am doing.I want the computer to remember and default to that folder. How can I set this up?
Thanks,
Claire

I have figured out that I can open the file folder in a different window and just drag in drop. This better. However, I would be interestred in being able to modify Finder settings for file management.
Cheers,
Claire

  • How do I remove the hidden file icons from the Finder folder?

    I recently had problems with Final Cut Pro and had to remove QuicktimeX and use Pacifist to re-install QuicktimeX back into the Applications folder.
    I now have "hidden icons" that are lightly grayed out in the Finder folder. I was told by the Apple Genious leave them alone until you know the correct way of removing them from the folders because they play an important role in the system folder.
    Can someone advise me on how to make them go away again?

    LOL! Sorry Niel, I 'm just a beginner when it comes to more the double clicking on the Mac. I just had to laugh at myself after reading your response. I should have been in a Three Stooges movie....
    Thank you, it worked and I saved it just in case one of my friends have the same problem. I will fix it for them then claim to be a Mac Genius.

  • Archiving the File in the same source folder

    Hi EveryBody,
    I have a file to file scenario.
    Scenario Description :
    I have 10 source folders and one Communication channel.I am picking the files from different source folders (with .txt extension) using the option Advance Selection for Source File in the CC.
    I am able to pick the files,do the Content Conversion and process them.
    Now i want to archive these files in the same source folder from where i pick.The Archive Filename will be same as the Source Filename with the extension changed to .eof (for example if i have a file in folder X with the name input.txt then it shld be picked and archived in the same folder X with the name input.eof).
    Can somebody help me out on this?
    How can i do this?
    Is there any option to do such type of archiving for any number of folders using a single Communication channel?
    Adapter Module is one of the option but is there any other option?
    If Adapter module is one of the option , can somebody expain me the Module execution flow for the sender file adapter , that is whether custome model will execute first or standard module is executed before that.
    Helpful answers will be rewarded with points.
    Thanks,
    Zabiulla

    Hi
    While configuring your communcitation channel, in the processing tab --> processing mode,you need to select the archive mode and then specify the path as to where you want to post it, in your case it will be the same path as to your source path, give the same path and specify the name of the file as to what name you want to archive
    Hope this clears your doubt
    Thanks

    I tried to rename a file, it gave me an error message (can't remember the number - 43??) and then the file disappeared from the original folder. When I do a search, the file comes up under the new name, but it does not show a path, and even though preview shows the contents, I can't open the document (Powerpoint) and I can't move the document. I tried "Copy" and paste but it doesn't work. I tried "Share" with Airdrop and iChat, but the file is inaccessible. When i try to rename the file, it says the filename is too long.
    When I try to open it, it says the alias is not good, and asks if I want to fix the alias. I'm afraid to do that and lose all access to this document.
    Right now, it feels like a ghost document - it is on the computer intact, but it is in an undisclosed location and inaccessible.
    Please help!!

    I was able to resolve this by repairing permissions, even though no permissions error was listed specifically for that file.
    I could also have recovered it through Time Machine, but I'm interested in knowing how not to have this happen again!
    I was afraid of rebooting and possibly losing track even of the ghost.
    I did not try EasyFind - I'll keep that in mind next time.
    Thanks for all the comments.

  • Is there a way to recover deleted video files from the finder folder

    I recently and mistakenly deleted video files that were in my Finder folder,don't know why they were in there but that's another question, in doing this it also deleted them from IMovie and I have lost them unless someone out there know's different,
    Colin

    If you haven't emptied your trash, they should be there.
    If not, they should be in your last Time Machine backup. (Or other backup.)

  • How to use File History from same account on 2 PCs to same NAS

    I recently upgraded from Win7 to Win8.1 and am unsuccessful in using File History as I'd like.  Perhaps it's a configuration issue, so I'll explain my goal, what I've done, and the problem:
    I have a PC and laptop, both in the same HomeGroup and I use the Microsoft Account on both.  Heretofore I've used a 'backup program' (SyncBack Pro), to synch the Documents folder between the PC and laptop, and then backup the PC's Documents folder to
    a folder on a NAS (Network Attached Storage).  That worked file.
    Now, attempting to use File History, I setup up a NAS:\File History folder on the NAS and turned File History on both on the PC and laptop, pointing to the same NAS:\File History folder on the NAS.  (Actually, I didn't enable it on the laptop until
    File History on the PC had completed its initial run.)  Within 1 or 2 days, the NAS was out of space but shouldn't have been.  When I use Windows Explorer to list contents of subfolders in Documents in the File History folder on the NAS, it shows
    the same files and sizes as it shows on the folders on the PC.  But when I use Windows Explorer to get the Properties of those folders, it shows exactly 2 or 3 (differs by folder) times as many files, and 2 or 3 times the total space taken on the
    PC.  There are many folders in the $OF folder.  I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that $OF would hold old files (e.g., deleted or superseded) but there probably aren't more than 4-5 files that changed over this time period.  All this is making
    me think that perhaps when File History runs on, say the laptop, it actually replaces all files of the same names saved by File History running on the PC and vice versa.  Perhaps that's wrong, but it's the only way I can explain the explosion of the number
    of files and space consumed by even multiples (2 or 3, at which point the NAS ran out of space).
    So, given my goal -- making sure there is a shared backup of all Documents files on the NAS -- is there a way I can set up File History on both the PC and laptop so the same file is represented once in the NAS:\File History ?????
    Finally, in case it's relevant, when I set up File History on the PC it asked me if I wanted to invite others in the HomeGroup to do so, but nothing resembling an 'invitation' ever appeared on the laptop.
    Many thanks to anyone who can address this.

    Hello RASSRQ,
    Do you mean that the file history in NAS need 2 or 3 times space as the file on PC?
    Please explain a bit about the sentence ‘When I use Windows Explorer to list contents of subfolders in Documents in the File History folder on the NAS, it shows the same files and sizes as it shows on the folders on the PC.  But when I use Windows Explorer
    to get the Properties of those folders, it shows exactly 2 or 3 (differs by folder) times as many files, and 2 or 3 times the total space taken on the PC.  There are many folders in the $OF folder. ’
    I can’t understand: What is $OF folder? Could you please share us a screenshot about $OF folder if you willing to?
    What folders in $OF folder?
    Based on my test, I follow the steps by referring to the following article and can’t find the similar issue.

  • How can I restore deleted file attachments from further back than the history tool will let me go?

    I have a open form that collects registration information from customers, including documents and images that they can upload using file attachment fields.  Back on 2/24 I inadvertently deleted the several hundree responses that the form had collected up until that point.  Using the history tool, I accessed older, intact versions of the form, selected the deleted rows, and copy/pasted them back into the latest verskon of the document.  It seemed to work fine, but I didn't look closely enough to see that the attachments had been lost.  The file referenvces were still there, but they had little red exclamation marks next to them and couldn't be opened.
    A couple week later, I discovered this and tried to go back into the form's hsitory again until before that accident on 2/24.  However, I can no longer go back in time that far.  The system only seems to let me go back around 10 days.
    We need to recover the lost file attachmentrs.  Is there  a self-service way for me to restore my form back to 2/24, including file attachments?  If not, could an Adobe supprrt technician hele me to do that?
    Thank you

    lol, nevermind. I came across an article that made it easy. For anyone else with this problem it's real simple.
    Open itunes
    File>Add Folder to Library
    select 'itunes' and it will add your music to your library
    Although it went through all my apps asking if I want to replace or don't replace with newer, when it finished all my music appeared in itunes just like I left it before reinstalling Win 7. Easy Peasy. I've seen others with same problem but nobody seemed to have this easy solution.
    Now I can finally plug in my iphone and sync without losing all my music from my iphone.

  • Is it possible to sync photos from a finder folder AND Aperture at once?

    Hello!
    I have a folder of images in Finder that I wish to sync to my brand new iPad. Said images include things like desktops, artwork, and other things that I want in the iPad, but not in Aperture. I also have a few constantly changing albums in Aperture I'd like to keep in sync with the iPad. Unfortunately, while iTunes makes it easy to sync from Finder OR Aperture, I don't see a way to sync from both at the same time. Is there a way to do this? Or, is it possible to merely drag the files from the finder to the iPad, without importing them into Aperture?
    Thanks for suggestions,
    -Dan

    As far as I can tell no you can't. I use Aperture and Lightroom. What I've done with use iPhoto as my iPad photo app and I only put the photos I need on the iPad in there. Not the most efficient for space on the computer but works well for the iPad since I get only the specific albums I want on there. I separate things into albums for photos, wallpapers, etc...

  • Applescript - Create RTF File in Last Selected Finder Folder

    QUERY: As a fit-for-purpose Applescript user, I try to customize posted scripts (thanks to sharers who do the heavy lifting) to suit my needs. Someone posted a great Applescript for creating an RTF file, but I want one modification:  rather than having to declare/designate a folder in which to place the new RTF, I want it to create the new file in the active Finder file.  Interestingly enough, I also have an Appscript which, in fact, will create a TXT file (not RTF) in the active Finder file. How to take the desirable bit from the latter and working it into the former, I cannot figure. (More times than not, I can successfully blend scripts, but not so this time. I have hit something that requires expert help.)
    REFERENCE MATERIAL: First, the current Applescript for creating an RTF. Then, for reference, the Applescript for creating the TXT.

  • Restoring mail messages and attachments from Library Mail folder

    Can someone please tell me the best way to do the following...
    I have recently performed an erase and install of Snow Leopard.
    I need to restore my old mail and I have the following data...
    A copy of the "Mail" folder from the "Library" folder, up-to-date as of yesterday (19/9/09). I omitted to take a copy of the "Mail Downloads" folder which I believe contains the attachments for the messages.
    An older copy of the "Mail Downloads" folder, up-to-date as of 31/5/09.
    I was advised by one person at Apple Care that the Mail Folder was all I needed to back-up all my mail. Then the next advisor told me I should have taken a copy of the Mail Downloads folder as well. Another advisor suggested I exported all the mailboxes manually one by one which I now wish I had done.
    In any case, I am where I am and I would like to know what to do with the data I have to be able to access my past mail messages.

    Robert,
    If you were to need to do this again, all you need is to restore the Mail folder and the com.apple.mail.plist file (Home/Library/Preferences). If you restore those -- replacing any that might get created, but would not if you don't first launch Mail -- then Import is not necessary and it picks up where it left off.
    The Mail Downloads folder is not needed -- its contents are redundant to what is kept with the messages.

  • Can SSIS be used to pick up files dynamically from an FTP folder?

    I get 4 files dumped into an FTP folder each day.  Each comes in with a date, in this format: '20140320' & the filename, which is always the same convention for these four files.  Can I run SSIS on a daily basis, like at 9AM, to scan through
    the files in the folder, and import the ones that were dropped in today (today's files always have yesterday's date).
    Thanks!!
    Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

    Hi,
    You can check the below Link.
    http://microsoft-ssis.blogspot.com/2011/08/foreach-ftp-file-enumerator.html
    Also I would suggest create 4 ftp tasks for each files and define 4 expressions based on the expression below. Give then each file name
    with the expression that is defined.
    “Filename#####1” + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("yyyy",getdate()) + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("m",getdate()),2)
    + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("d",getdate()),2) + ".csv"
    “Filename#####2” + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("yyyy",getdate()) + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("m",getdate()),2)
    + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("d",getdate()),2) + ".csv"
    “Filename#####3” + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("yyyy",getdate()) + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("m",getdate()),2)
    + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("d",getdate()),2) + ".csv"
    “Filename#####4” + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("yyyy",getdate()) + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("m",getdate()),2)
    + Right("0" + (DT_STR,4,1252) DatePart("d",getdate()),2) + ".csv"
    Or whatever the file format is, I selected .csv

  • Read multi-tabbed excel file attachments from Sender Mail Adapter.

    There is a need to read excel attachments from incoming email to a
    mailbox. We know we can use Sender Mail adapter to easily read .xml, .txt
    or .csv attachments.
    For excel attachments we know from SDN that you have to write
    adapter modules to handle excel. However the excel file we need to read has
    multiple worksheets(tabs) and data may be contained in any of them.
    Is it possible to use SAP XI Mailsender adapter to read such a file as an attachment? What kind of module development would we need for this? I am not much of a Java programmer so examples or links to other documentation would help.
    Thanks,

    Rudra,

  • How do I name output files based on files processed from a watched folder?

    Hello!
    I've built a small process to merge XML files with XDP templates, generating PDF files at the end of the process.
    Right now the process is generating all files with a fixed name + a random number, as defined in the Input panel (literal value with option "Appen a suffix..." checked.
    I'd like to change this so the resulting files have the same name as the input files, changing only the extension (PDF instead of XML).
    I believe I should change from literal value to XPath expression, in order to build the resulting name based on the input file name.
    QUESTION: what function should I use to get the input file name in XPath builder (if this is the right place to do it) ?
    I tried with:
         getDocAttribute(/process_data/@docApolicesXML,"wsfilename")  + ".PDF"
    Does not work.
    Thanks a lot for any hints!
    Marcos

    Hi Marcos,
    You should do the following:
    Create new variable "filename"
    And in a Set value you should:
    filename = getDocAttribute(/process_data/@docApolicesXML,"basename")
    filename = concat(/process_data/@filename,".pdf")
    This will give you "myFile.xml.pdf - if you want myFile.pdf instead, you need to do this in the Set value:
    filename = getDocAttribute(/process_data/@docApolicesXML,"basename")
    filename = substring-before(/process_data/@filename,".xml")
    filename = concat(/process_data/@filename,".pdf")
    That should do it :-)
