Safari/Firefox crashes on upload from Desktop
Hello, Safari crashes when i try to upload something from desktop. Also happened to firefox. Seem like finder have problem. Any idea how to fix it ?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful.

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.
Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well. -
Firefox crashes when uploading/downloading files from/to 'desktop folder'
Hello
I'm hoping, that you can help me!
I'm using Firefox 28.0 on MacBook Pro Mavericks 10.9.2
Firefox crashes/freezes when I try to upload/download files from/to my 'desktop folder'.
I't only happens, when I use this folder. Download to 'download folder' or any other folder works fine.
Download to 'desktop folder' when using Safari also works fine.
I't only happens when desktop and firefox tries to communicate.
It's very annoying when I accidentally forget, that the bugs is there, and I have to force quit and start all over again. And sometimes I don't even have a choice, because 'desktop' randomly opens as default folder, when I try to upload things.
Thank you so much in advance!
Kind regards ElizabethHi ESwan,
I am not a Mac user so not the best person to attempt to assist but here goes.
I am presuming that info such as
PID: 1695 Event: cpu usage (microstackshots only)
Relate to the Mac OS X crash & event logging and reporting.
What we need are the ones that Firefox itself generates and submits for processing by Mozilla Firefox
* See [[Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash]]'''#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash'''
From what you say the crashes occur after a certain action and I am hoping that you will be able to use the easy method as in the article linked above. Navigate to about:crashes by keying ''about:crashes'' into the address bar. You are loolking for the ones starting wth ''bp-'' Paste two or three of those into your next post. Include the bp- part but not any link information before that. After they are pasted into the forum the forum software changed them to be links. -
Dear All,
My firefox (version 23 on win 7) crashed when upload file on our internal web based application. This happen on two PC, even in firefox safe mode the problem still exist. So, my first conclusion the problem nothing to do with extension. here the crash ID https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/81220865-36c0-4e10-a484-6d27e2131023 and https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/86d2b779-9730-4d2c-b276-a86d42131023. I wonder if this happen because jquery modul in our web based application. But when I tried on my laptop, the problem dissapear. I tried to replicate same situation on different server, I mean I put the exact same application source to other server, never meet the same problem. Thus, I suspect may be it related to antivirus that installed in our network which is kaspersky. I am googling, never meet the clue.
If you meet the same problem, please help me.
I am so sorry for my poor english.
Him HimThe crashes are a problem with the winhadnt.dll file (OCular Agent from TEC Solutions Limited) as you can see in the crash reports.

Word, Safari, etc crash when printing from HP C4780
I recently reinstalled (fresh install) Leopard 10.5.8 on my iMac PPC; works fine. Then installed an HP C4780 printer for use on that Mac. No drivers for that printer exist on the basic Leopard install, so I installed the HP drivers from CD (also tried downloading updated ones from the HP site). the install goes fine, and I can print a test page. I am guessing this has nothing to do with it being a PPC, which is why I'm posting this question also on the iMac/Intel threads.
However, whenever I try to print (or print preview) a page from anything else (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Safari, Firefox), the application that I'm trying to print from crashes. Every time. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no avail.
I'm out of ideas now. Does anyone have a clue on this one?
Thanks
DennisThe HP website lists drivers specifically for 10.4, 10.5 & 10.6 - is that the set you installed? Since that driver lists 10.4 as being compatible it must be PPC compatible because Tiger predates Intel Macs. You have several Macs listed in your profile, what happens if you try to print share through another computer. Does the computer crash when you try to print then?

Safari & Firefox crash when I print twice
I can print one web page, but whenever I try to print again they crash. This happened with safari so I switched to firefox and it happens there too. I have seen that others have this problem too, but I haven't found any solutions posted. Any ideas?
I'm guessing it's a buggy print driver, but I need a few more details please...
What brand and model of printer are you trying to print to?
Locally attached (USB) or Network or WiFi or ???
What printer driver are you using? Is it the original driver that came with the printer?
Have you checked the printer manufacturer's website for an updated printer driver?
Have you reported the problem to Apple when the 'Crash Reporter' pops up after Safari or Firefox crash?
Do you have problems printing only one web page, or is it a problem with EVERY web page.
Do you notice other symptoms or problems (other applications slow down, fan starts running) when printing?
Have you clicked the printer icon to monitor the progress of the print job while it is printing the first time?
Are there un-printed jobs accumulating in the print queue?
Sorry to ask so many questions, but it might help me and others in the forum diagnose the issue further. -
Flex drag-n-drop upload from desktop
Is there a way to upload a file from the desktop by drag and
dropping the file a flex application running purely on the browser;
not using AIR. The examples that have seen from my research so far,
drag files/images which are already within the browser to another
location within the same browser.
I would be most grateful for quick anwer to my
questionDrag and drop from desktop to Flex App is neat, but I wonder
if this is possible:
<mx:TextInput ... />
<mx:Button label="Browse" click="openFileBrowser()" ...
/>
Someone says you can't drag and drop from desktop to browser:

Everything was ok until early last week when Firefox kept on and on crashing. I downloaded the new version on Saturday and all was fine until I switched on on Sunday and nothing, zilch. Opened in internet explorer and all was OK so knew it had to be Firefox. I disabled my Firewall and all came on perfectly, as soon as firewall goes on again Firefox goes off. I have now done a system restore back thingy (I'm sure you know what I mean!!) to before the download and am now having to put up with it crashing when it feels like it. Also very slow and sticky. I am working on Windows 7 if this helps.
If this cannot be resolved satisfactorily I will change to Safari or Internet Explorer as this is not the first problems I have had with Firefox.A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

that looks like an excerpt from console, rather than the crash logs such as
'/Users/deeunicorn23/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Camino.crash.log'
but no matter - it does show that both Firefox & Camino are stuck trying to access a file
System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBook.framework/Versions/A/AddressBook
which they can locate, but don't recognise the file type of... probably because it's been damaged or over-written somehow.
The easiest way out is to restore from a recent backup - either just that file, or the whole system.
There's no guarantee that it will be the only problem file, so verifying/repairing the disk is a good idea, as well as making a backup (if you don't already have one) just in case any data is lost.
You might try Safe mode - just in case that allow the problem apps to run - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
If installer still works - the 10.4.11 combo update may contain the file, so running that would work.
Let us know what backups or access to other macs running Tiger you have - or if you really don;t want to get techy, reinstall the OS, choosing the 'archive & install' option.
Another option is Pacifist from http://charlessoft.com/ to extract just the damaged file from a suitable installer package or DVD, but that'd need a little research to see which ones contain it. -
Windows 8.1 Crashes with Dumps from desktop
I have experienced a number of crashes on a PC with Windows 8.1, and have analyzed the mini dumps and one full dump so far, and have seen a myriad of different crash results including IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR, CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.
I've posted the raw dmp files, as well as txt files of the results from running them through the debugger here...
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F1640CE12DEBCE6B!130&authkey=!ABlrD4zyv8gT_SU&ithint=folder%2ctxt
I've ran memtest86 very thoroughly on the RAM with 0 errors, I've updated all of the drivers, ran chkdsk on the HDD, and cannot find any glaring errors, and the computer still seems to crash at random points in time with different applications running each
time. The computer is a custom build if the components matter, and each of the component can be found here...
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zfmYqsTTD
There is a very specific problem. The HD. I would go the HD maker and download their HD checking utility and run it

Firefox will not open from desktop icons
Hi peeps: have been solving an adware problem by resetting firefox on and off for 12 months. Now I canonly open it in task manager...shortcut icons/ start bar won't work. Any tips much appreciated
Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
*In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on ''Help'' (or click on ''Help'' in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem. -
Firefox crashes when printing from the web.
Mac user with OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). Have had repeated problems with Firefox in all versions crashing when trying to print from the web or using print preview before printing. Currently have Frefox v3.6.16 for MAC. Am printing to an HP 1315 AIO and HP 1210 AIO printers. Very irritating! Can copy paste web stuff to Word and print OK. Problem went away with OS 10.6 and Firefox 4 on my new MAC.
Inconclusive Evidence, I have tried all of your recommendations with no success. I can print with any other applications, just not Firefox, so I know it is not a problem with my driver. I'm stuck as to what to do at this point. Any other tips? Thanks for your help!

Firefox crashing after resuming from sleep
For the past month or so after resuming my computer from sleep, firefox will crash as soon as I pull it up if it was minimized, or crash immediately if it was the active object before my computer went to sleep. I've tried safe mode, and it didn't work.

Safari/firefox crashes after closing tab or application with video
i've only noticed this on the nytimes.com website after playing their video content (youtube works fine). in both firefox and safari: every single time i play a video, if i pause it or stop it and then try to close the tab it is in or the application, i get the pinwheel and no matter how long i wait for it, it does not come back so i force quit. i've tried updating/reinstalling, but nothing seems to work. also episodes/shows via abc.com do not play at all - tried reinstalling/updating those plugins/apps as well. this is happening on both macbook pro and macbook with updated versions of leopard... thoughts?
