From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab.
Make sure: Allow Plug-ins is selected.

I get the flashing folder on booting my MacBook, but only if it is not connected to a power source.

I have an early 2008 white MacBook, running Snow Leopard. A few months ago the hard disk died, and I replaced it. Now when I turn it on (or even wake it from sleep) I get the grey screen with the flashing folder/question mark. However, when it is connected to a power source, this doesn't happen. (this is not dependent on battery as when unplugged, it doesn't start even if the battery is full)

Once a Mac becomes 4 years old, the PRAM chip's capacitor or battery is likely to go. This is separate from the battery to affects it on the power lines. Hopefully yours is a battery, since the capacitor is on the logicboard for those that have a capacitor, and are harder to replace.

I dropped my iphone 4, and it wont turn on unless connected to a power source. even then its stuck on the apple logo.but once i take it off the power source it shuts off and wont turn on.

Your last try would be a restore if you can get iTunes to recognize the phone. If not, you have probably damaged the device beyond repair. You can go to see Apple about an out of warranty replacement. The cost for the iPhone 4 is $149US, you can check for your location.

I just recently returned an IPad air and exchanged it for another. I first set up this new one as a new IPad but then deleted all content and settings right away (since I wasn't getting the progress I had made in apps and games) in order to restore it from my previous IPad Air. I then checked after on how to backup via icloud and saw this line under the subtitle of how to restore from a backup, "For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete." What does Apple mean by "for best battery performance"? Im just a bit worried of issues.
p.s. And yes I did have it connected to the power. And the ios is the default ios for new IPad Airs.

It only means you should restore whilst it is connected to a power supply, so that your battery doesn't go flat during the process.

Phone Keeps FLASHING Apple LOGO and wont work with a power source.

I think what you are describing is what happened to my iPhone. I was updating my software then after it was 'done' it just started flashing the apple logo every 5 secs. What I did was I connected my iPhone to my computer via USB then I pressed and held both the top and the home button for about 15 secs then released the top button while continuing to hold the home button. My iPod touch crashes. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the crash occurs. It will not reboot until reconnected to a power source. Once connected to a power source, it reboots and works well. When disconnected it will work then crash again.

My Ipod Touch 4th generation (8gb, iOS 5.1) crashes for no apparent reason. There is no rhyme or reason to when the crash occurs.
Once it crashes, the only way to reboot the iPod is to connect it to an external power source (computer or AC outlet). Once connected, it will reboot and operate normally.
When disconnected from the power source, it will operate for a variable periods of time (maybe minutes, maybe hours) then crash again. It can't be rebooted until again attached to an external power source.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Thanks for your help.....

I hate to let you down. I live a long way from any Apple store, so I returned the iPod to the seller. I really don't know if I'll buy another.
I know it's probably an isolated incident, but this kind of experience leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Resetting: "Connect to External Power Source"

I do not have an "external power source" for my iPod. I charge it using the USB cable.
I am on the step of resetting that requires me to connect to an external power source.
What can I do?

When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see that icon displayed. It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.

My Iphone won't do an icloud backup, I have enough storage and i am connected to a power source AND connected to Wi-Fi, Help

Today I changed my Apple ID, and now am trying to do an iCloud backup and I AM connected to a wi-fi source as well as a power source and it WILL NOT back up, any suggestions as to why??

I'm having the same problem. Interesting part is that I also have an iPad. They sit side-by-side in docks for power, have the same settings to backup to iCloud. But the iPhone has never backed up to iCloud and the iPad does so regularly every night (same appleid on both). Both have plenty of extra storage. The only difference is that the iPhone only connects to the 2.4GHz wifi, while the iPad (new) will connect to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz wifi (my router supports both and both are turned on--the iPad seems to connect via the 5GHz side preferentially). Both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi use the same Internet connection.
When I try to do a manual backup to iCloud, it sits there and appears to be trying, but last night (I started the manual backup before going to bed) it had gotten no further than barely starting (as indicated by the progress bar) by morning. So something is definitely wrong.

My iphone 4 has been faulty since getting it on contract with 3mobile in jan. The phone will work when plugged into a power source but not otherwise. I have contacted apple and followed their inistructions but still not working. 1. Try doing a hard reset while connected to the adapter:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
2. If that doesn't solve the issue, backup the device and restore it as new.

NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have hardware problem.

I only ask because today, for the first time, I had the appearance of a stuck key for a couple of minutes but I don't think I was even touching the keyboard, I suppose it could conceivably have been caused by a rogue biscuit crumb or something, but coincidentally it was the same key that you reported, the period key typing..............................................................

The screen backlight of my mbp 15 stays dim even when connected to the power source. Anyone else dealt with this problem?

It also seems that my sound can no longer be controlled by the keys on my keypad. Has anyone else experience this? I am running osx 10.6.8.

IF RESET DOESN'T WORK, FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note: Data will be lost
