When trying to install Flash Player 8. I receive this error message.
Application Launch Failure:
The application "Install Flash Player 8 OSX" could not be launched because of a shared library error:
"=<BaseInstaller><Apple;Carbon;Multimedia><CFM Priv_QuickTime>
How can I fix my plug in issue?
Ran Disk Utility from install dvd.
Repaired disk and permissions.
Also did 10.4.3 combo update.
Any other ideas?

Just reinstalled my os. Everything has been fine since.

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Version 11.4.402.265 is for Snow Leopard onwards.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

Safari flash player problem! Pls Help!

Hi, the issue is that if i'm loading a website with a flash player my safari shows me this:
"The page “Electronica / Dance - mp3spy - download mp3” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:

And all the flash adding don't work!! I've tried to install all the falsh plyers and all the staff from the macromedia website, but it is still not working. Thought it was working perfectly before.
Pls help. Any ideas on solving this problem(exept installing again the flash player and rebooting the system)?

Safari Flash Player

my flash player for safari is no longer working. when i reinstalled the flash player i only see the quicktime logo with a question mark over it. in the past i've had problems with flash, a video i would be watching streaming would skip frames and to correct this problem in the past was to reinstall adobe flash player. but for my current problem, i've uninstalled flash player then restarted my computer and reinstall flash and i still get the question mark. i've reseted safari and no luck. however flash works on firefox. is safari just completely worthless and move over to firefox? or do i need to reinstall safari? anything on this subject would help.

If you UnInstalled the Flash Player you will need Pacifist to reInstall it. Thats the reason you get a question mark.
Pacifist will allow you to extract and reinstall Safari from the Original Disc.

A little different aproach to your problem could be 2 things. It may be the program used to develop the video you are trying to view. At one time it required a user to have several different players downloaded to be able to view from different Videos form different sites. Windows Media Player, Quicktime,Realplayer,and Macromedia just to mention a few. As you notice on most will give you a speed choice as well for the best viewing from a Dial-up Connection, DSL, and Cable. If the wrong speed is selected it will also cause you problems. Hope something here has help explain it for you.

Safari Flash Player Memory Leak?

I recently got a new macbook pro, 13" model (with the 2.2 GHz dual processor). Last night I noticed that it was running pretty slowly, something that I figured was weird considering the amount of power it has compared to my four year old desktop computer. I managed to isolate the problem: a memory leak with safari's flash player. I watch a lot of netflix and some TV episodes...and it turns out that the flash player accumulates up to 2 GB of RAM by itself. My pro has 4 GB of RAM and it never goes above 50% of that memory unless I watch videos. Only way to get around the problem is to force close the flash player application...but it's annoying to have to reload what I was watching. Any ideas on the fix for this?

Far as I know, Netflix doesn't use Flash, it uses Silverlight.

Safari + flash player plug-in = constant crashing

so recently i've been getting this rather annoying pop-up whenever i try to to something that is flash related. mainly any type of online video player.
"the application safari quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched. the problem may have been caused by the flash player plug-in."
on the pop-up it has the options of Ignore, Report, and Relaunch. i've sent multiple reports to apple, but i don't know that it really does much. it's becoming unbearable to do anything with flash now, seeing as it will crash and ruin things.
i have a macbook version 10.5.8, and safari version 4.0.4. any hints or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Safari Flash Player Plug in Crashing

Is anyone else having problems with Safari Crashing on Snow leopard. I was reading that Snow leopard downgraded the adobe flash player to version 10.0.23.1 from 10.0.32.18 well I upgraded due to security flaws in the downgraded build version. Now safari will constantly crashing after the flashplayer crashes anyone with this issue, any way of fixing this...I have disabled plugins but now no flash. Thanks

The exact same thing happened to me. On the recommendation of various news articles, I manually upgraded the Flash Player plug-in from 10.0.23.1 to 10.0.32.18. Initially, I had no problems, but when I started viewing ESPN Flash-based videos, the entire browser would hang (this was true of Safari, Firefox, and Opera - all of which I tried and had the most updated version of). I then force quit and rebooted. After I rebooted, the problems disappeared for a while, but after some more browsing, I encountered the same problem with any page containing flash. I turned off the Flash plug-in in Firefox and I've had no problems so far. So I know for sure that it's a Flash problem.
I tried to uninstall Flash and downgrade, but I couldn't find any previous versions of the Flash player plug-in. I did find some experimental builds, but they still crashed all three browsers.
Flash is pretty miserable. If I didn't have to use it to watch ESPN videos, I would have no purpose in using Flash at all.

Mac Safari Flash Player Update Download Problems

I am using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I am trying to download the update for Flash 11.6.602.180. When I download the file, its comes as install_flash_player_osx.dmg.mdlp.
When i try to open the sucessfuly downloaded file, it will just open up my MATlab application, and not the typical folder that you click on to begin the update.
Currently, all video use on Sarafi has a 'plug in blocked' and I can't watch anything.

I figured it out.
Edited the name of the file by removing the .mdlp
Once that was fix, it would open up as normal.
Just an FYI if anyone else has the same problem.
It was opening up my matlab application because matlab programs end in .m

Flash player not working on safari; any reasons why?

I just recently noticed that my safari flash player isn't working. As i was trying to watch some youtube videos, it keeps saying "Blocked-Plug in" when i continued to click on it, it then asks me to get the lastest flash player which i did. Even after downloading, redownloading and repeating the process, it still won't allow me to watch any videos. I've found some comments in here from the previous year with people who had experience the same things but their techniques aren't working either. Im just getting really frustrated and need some help. Fast

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:

Flash Player crashing Safari - loading interruption?

I'm sorry if there is a previous post on this issue, but I am still experiencing what I believe is the same problem with Safari+Flash Player for quite some time now.
Here's what I think is happening:
When Flash is attempting to load external files (images, etc. ) and the window is closed or you leave the page and go to another URL, Flash crashes the browser.
Is this a known bug?
I'm running Safari 3.1.2 on a 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, with 2 Gb of RAM, and OS X (10.4.11) . Other than this Safari+Flash Player problem, my computer is in otherwise 'perfect condition'. My current Flash Player is version 10.0.2.54.

Cannot install flash player 10.3 on os x 10.5.8

I uninstalled FP a few weeks ago because it was crashing Safari 5.0.6 on a regular basis. This morning, I ran the flashback security update sent out by apple a couple of days ago. I decided to see if that update might reduce the flash crashes with Safari + Flash Player, so I have been trying for hours to install FP 10.3. I go to the correct Adobe page and follow the instructions. Nothing happens. The tiny spinning wheel in the internet address line does not stop spinning, even after 30 minutes. I have thoroughly reviewed the adobe pages dealing with installation problems to no avail.
Please provide any suggestions that are in the context of the system I currently have. If all else fails, I'll consider trying Chrome or Snow Leopard, but I would prefer to keep things as they are.

I found a google group discussion that allowed me to solve this problem. I had disabled java plug-ins in my Utilities - Java Preferences folder because I believed doing so would reduce the risk of the flashback virus. Apparently, doing so prevented installation of all Safari plug-ins, or, at least the Adobe plug-in.
Anyway, I went back into the Utilities - Java preferences folder, clicked on "General" and then clicked on "Restore Defaults" in the lower right corner. After that, the Flash Player 10.3 installation worked perfectly.
I hope this helps others having trouble installing FP on OS X 10.5.8.

Safari/Flash making computer to panic and affecting HD?

Hello,
I have the impression that a combination of Safari/Flash player/WebKitPluginHost may be the computer crashing/panicking. May this also affect the HD? I ask this because after every crash I verify the disk and there is always an invalid file count report. Then I repair the disk and the hd problem seems solved.
I have turned to Firefox, but anyway, if Safari is the culprit, is there any way to fix this?

Thank you Carolyn. So you say that it may be the other way round: the HD may have a problem. However, I have had no problems since I left Safari for Firefox (and I would really like to go back to Safari).

Flash Player 12.0.0.4 will not install to Safari & Firefox OSX 10.7.5

I have gone through the "clean install" process posted in this forum 3 times now in an attempt to get FP 12.0.0.4 to install to Safari. I have downloaded 12.0.0.4 and run the install process. It successfully installs to Chrome but each time, Safari and Firefox again end up with 12.0.0.38! Then if I go back to the check Flash Player page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
It will tell me 12.0.0.4 is the current verison that should be installed.
If I go to Mozilla's check plugins page https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
It will tell me that 12.0.0.38 is installed for FF and is "up to date."
So, is 12.0.0.4 only for Chrome or what?

The Flash Player page specifically shows 12.0.0.4 for Safari, FireFox and Opera. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Correct info would have prevented a pointless waste of time. The other Flash Player test page also reports the wrong information when viewing via Safari and FF.

Flash player does not work in safari

I need to install updated Flash player when I click on the 'install' button for Flash player - nothing happens. I have tried to 'uninstall' and again nothing happens.
Running 10.7.4 and have Safari plug-ins enabled. Can anyone help? thanks

I suspect a corrupt cache file someplace, I've seen this occur with Flash before.
Run the #12 OnyX routine here, that will flush and rebuild the caches.

You must be through running all the maintenance and cleaning aspects as this is a "catch all" method and any number of corrupted caches may be responsible for your issues. You need to REBOOT at the end of using OnyX. Canceling the in-between reboot requests is fine.
Read Step #13 and perform the Verify > Preferences before rebooting at the end of using OnyX.
