Safari - Flash works on only 1 user
Added a user to my Mac (Tiger 10.0.4.9) and now Flash doesn't
work on main user's Safari- works on 2nd user though. I get the
Quicktime "Q" with a "?" - even from the Adobe site after a fresh
install. I've Uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired permissions,
rebooted, yada, yada, yada. Still no. Works on Firefox on main user.
You'll find me over here at witts end!
Thanks
dgerwig,
Can you check these steps for me?
1. Open Quicktime from System Preferences
2. Select Advanced
3. Select MIME settings
4. In the Miscellaneous file formats what do you see for SWF?
After that go ahead and uninstall/reinstall Flash Player..
That should fix it (but we're not entirely sure what's causing
it..)

Safari not working on my computer user account, works fine for other users.
Safari hangs up and barely opens a page, or the beach ball just spins and then Safari dies. This is only happening on my user account, and on the other user accounts Safari is working fine. I have tried most recommendations, including resetting Safari, inserting DNS 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, and turning off plug-ins.
Thanks for any help on this.
I am using Safari v.4.0.4Just wanted to add that I am also have the exact same issue. I have not added anything new to my computer. I have not downloaded anything off of the internet, installed any new programs, or changed any preferences. I am running 10.6.2 and Safari 4.0.4
This is extremely frustrating. It makes absolutely no sense. -
No Sound in Flash Player under only one User Account
Hi I searched the forums and could not find the answer to this.
I have a Freshly Installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) version with the latest Flash Player (10.1).
The browser doesn't matter, both Firefox and IE have the same behavior.
No sound comes from flash at all under the admin account. Under other user accounts, the sound is fine.
The sound WAS working fine until one time it said that Flash Player had crashed. I uninstalled, rebooted, re-installed with no luck.
So I'm either gonna just make another user account... or just wipe the computer and start over unless anyone has any ideas.
-MarcThanks. Well vs 3.6.8 is the latest FF. There is no Flash Player at all for any 64bit system. You must use the 32bit browser when Uninstalling/Installing and viewing Flash Content.
For that to happen so suddenly sounds like some update of a program, Windows update, an Anti-Virus update had taken place. Any new program Installed or Uninstalled? Anything you can think of prior to that happening? It just sounds like a major conflict.
You may want to take a look at your Flash files, perhaps some Flash file didn't get Installed properly.
Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash Open Flash and post back the files listed there. The NPSWF file(s) need a right click and then click on Properties to obtain the version number(s)
Also go to Tools, manage add ons with IE and find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is Enabled.
Using FF find the SWF vs 10.1.53.64 plug-in and make sure it is Enabled.
Perhaps when FP crashed it caused something to change in both of the add ons.
I had that happen to me a few months ago; Uninstalled an Anti-Virus/Installed a new version. Then couldn't see images on a website, and went to an Adobe website to check something and it told me I needed Flash Player to view it!!! Imagine my surprise:-) So that was the problem.
Thanks,

ICal alerts not working for only one user
My main user account stopped giving me iCal alerts. I can switch to another user and my test alert works. I've found a lot of information online but most seems to be for older versions of iCal. I have gone into ~user/Library and removed everything related to iCal. I even managed to finally delete the home calendar that seemed to re-appear. I managed to start with a clean calendar but no alerts. Is there an alert plist file that could be the culprit? I've done a global search in Terminal for anything under ~User/Library with "alert" or "notification" in the filename but can't find anything. I hate to rebuild an entire account again.
It seems someone has set the user policy at webapplication level for that user.Check the similar thread below

Plug-in Failure (Flash not working in Safari but working in Chrome)
Hi There,
I realise there have been threads on this subject but I seem to have tried everything besides re-installing ML at this stage.
When loading any flash content on any website within Safari - I receive a 'Plug-in Failure' message where the content should appear.
I feel the problem has been occurring since downloading the newest update
I was hoping someone could point out if I had missed out on something
Here are the steps I have taken to attempt to resolve this...
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Flash. (This actually did work once for about a half an hour, i've tried it about half a dozen times)
1a. Turning my computer off and on again
1b. Attempted downgrading my Flash version but the flash installer kept failing.
2. Logged into a guest account (Flash didn't work in safari)
3. Booted up in Safe Mode (Flash worked but very slowly)
4. Reset Safari (Flash didn't work)
5. Disabled Extensions (Flash didn't work)
6. Enabled Plug-ins & Java within Safari (Flash didn't work)
7. Removed plug ins that I believed may be effecting it (Flip4Mac) (Flash didn't work)
8. Deleted all data in the pref pane for Flash (Flash didn't work)
9. Removed all website data within Safari (Flash didn't work)
10. Tested Firefox and flash is also not working in firefox.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
Step 2
Repeat with this line:
{ sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
Step 3
{ launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -ef
Step 4
ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}Lib*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -ef
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of login items' | open -ef
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal. -
Flash works fine – but causes Safari to crash!
Hi.
I've searched a bit, and can't seem to find this exact issue.
I'm running the latest Safari on 10.6.1, and for the last ten days or so, certain websites have been crashing Safari. I cannot recall installing anything new that caused it, although I did install ClickToFlash a few weeks prior to this happening.
This seems to be different than the run-of-the-mill 'Flash crashed Safari' problem, in that Flash works fine. I can use YouTube, I can see other videos (Vimeo, etc.,) I can play games…
What does crash Safari are certain websites, most noticeably for me is by bank's login page. I'll enter my name and password, and bam… hang. Uninstall Flash, and the website works perfectly.
I've tried: Uninstall and reinstall of Flash (with permission repairs each time); deleting preferences; clearing caches; made a new user account (still happened).
A couple of additional notes:
• The same thing happened in Chrome; so I imagine this is a Flash problem, not a Safari problem. Still, it's a strange problem in that Flash works fine – something else is triggering it.
• This may help narrow it down: After deleting the preferences, Safari defaults back to the 'welcome to Safari page ( http://www.apple.com/safari/welcome/ ). This page, too, crashes when Youtube is installed.
Any suggestions?**Are you running Snow Leoaprd or Leopard? You changed your profile....
Try uninstalling and reinstalling a new copy of flash just in case. Adobe can be notorious for corrupted downloads.

Make sure and repair disk permissions after the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Might want to try Mac maintenance...
Mac OS X: How to force background maintenance tasks (logs and temporary items)
As I suggested previously, make sure there aren't any Safari add ons causing a conflict.

How do I get Flash working under 'Standard User' (IE9, Windows 7 x64)?
I have a very irritating problem that I can't find anyone to help me with.
In Internet Explorer 8 (and now IE9), I can view flash videos fine (Youtube, Hulu, etc). However, when it comes to embedded youtube flash videos on various websites, all I get is white boxes where the video would be. However, if I log in via my Admin user account on Windows 7 and launch IE, the embedded video plays fine. This issue is present in both the 32-bit and 64-bit browsers.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make this work with my standard user account. I do not want to change my account back to Administrator for security reasons. Let me tell you what I've done so far:
1) Uninstalled All Flashplayers using the uninstall tool as mentioned in other articles.
2) Reinstalled using the 'Run as Administrator' option.
3) Used a slightly older version of Adobe Flash, to rule out problems with their most recent release.
4) Ran System File Checker utility
I'm out of ideas... please assist.
Many thanks!!Under Global Settings (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.htm l), check 'allow 3rd-party Flash content...'.
If that doesn't help, see this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/3165341#3165341 -
Safari 4 Crashes At Start-Up - Works When I Switch User Accounts - Help!
Safari 4 Crashes At Start-Up - However Safari Works When I Switch User Accounts to a minimalistic non-admin acct with zero log-in items. I'm not sure how to best troubleshoot this. My log in items are minimal- LaunchBar, Google Desktop, CopyPaste Pro - that's about it. I tried deleting some various prefs and plists but don't know how to approach it.
Any suggestions? Thanks (Hawaiian Starman - you helped someone else recently with this problem - I followed your advice but could not duplicate her successful results. The log of my crash is as follows - I'll add a second post if the whole thing doesn't fit.

Add to portal favorites works only in User-language english
Hi,
i've got a litte problem with the funktion "add to portal favorites".
We use our portal to publish BW-Reports (BW7.0). Our development-language is english.
Both system (BW and EP) are configured in english.
In the portal (EP 7.0) we have the problem, that the "add to portal favorites" funktion works fine when the user-language is english. When the user-language is german only a few iviews can be added to the favorites....
Does anyone have an idee where my bug is?
ChristianHi Hema,
Try this.
Change the iView properties, these forces all BI reports to fire in EN,
The setting in the iView of Application Parameters and set this to u201CLanguage=ENu201D.Then this Overrides the local setting of the Portal and forces a BW report to fire in EN.
try this link :- Query in Portal User-Language-Independent

Flash player no longer working in Google Chrome -- Chrome Version 22.0.1229.79, Mac OS X Lion. Flash works fine in Safari and Firefox. Pages with flash freeze -- can't scroll (e.g, nytimes.com); on youtube, sound plays but the video windows are black spaces. This problem appeared Sept. 26, 2012. I was running Snow Leopard; updated to Lion in hopes this would resolve the problem, but the problem is still there. If I go to chrome:plugins and disable Flash, I can scroll around nytimes.com and the flash box/window just tells me to install flash.
I have tried: Clearing Cache and all other data in Chrome. Going to the Library in Finder and deleting the Google folder from Library>Caches, then uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling it. None of these have fixed the problem. Are you using a 2nd monitor? It appears to be related to that, and somebody somewhere is working on it. When I disconnected my external monitor, the problem disappeared on my laptop; apparently there will be an update to Chrome -- though not necessarily a stable one yet -- beginning next week to address the problem. See here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=152525

Magic Mouse works properly only on one user Account
I just bought a Magic Mouse to use with my PPC Imac. I have two users set up on this iMac and I set up the mouse while using one of those user accounts. By the way I set it up to be a left-handed mouse with the left button being for the secondary (right) click. I got the mouse installed and it wasn't working very smoothly. Then I discovered that I needed to update the software to the Magic Mouse Update 1.0. That seemed to get it working as fine as it could on this old machine and I was quite happy with it. However, yesterday I switched to the other user account and the Magic Mouse was acting completely weird. When I clicked on anything it was like a right click with menus popping up. In addition, it wouldn't single click at all. I checked in System Preferences that it was set up the same way as on the other account and it was. I then tried to switch it back to be a normal right-handed mouse. That gave me some functioning but it was very inconsistent and frustrating. If it wasn't for the "old" wireless mouse that I had there were moments when I would have been completely stuck.
Given that it worked fine on the one user account this doesn't seem like a hardward problem to me. I also installed it on my husband's MacBook Pro running Lion and it works okay in both user accounts. However, some of the special functions, like Smart Zoom and Mission Control don't seem to be functioning.
Any help would be appreciated.Did you ever get this resolved. Same thing. In my admin user account it works but in the one I use most I can't swipe scroll or anything?

Position has 2 users, work item has to go only 1 user
Hi All,
We have a business scenario where the position will have 2 users, however we need to send the workitem to only 1 user.
Please suggest ways to do this.
Thanks and Regards,
Soumya Gayatri.Hi Soumya
We have a business scenario where the position will have 2 users, however we need to send the workitem to only 1 user.
Even there are 2 user tagged to one position. There must be only one person would have got high priority to do their job. To get who has got high priority goto table HRP1001 enter these details in the table and check these
OTYPE = s
PLVAR = 01
RSIGN = A
RELAT = 008
PRIOX = 1
PROZT = 100 %
If there are 2 persons tagged check the fields PRIOX and PROZT would be different for 2 persons. These field would be maintained by functional. Check this fields for 2 persons holding the same position.
