Safari font specifically in Google search is way too BIG

The font in Google search is way too big. Only in Google. Other websites show normal fonts. Did someone encounter such problem? Please help me! Thank you!

select the cells you want to have no margin and choose the text inspector of the infopalette and the text tab button. At the bottom is a slider and a number field. There you can adjust the margin thickness.

What are solutions for a way-too-big database?

Hi guys!
I'm a software developer and not very good in database designing. One day, I was asked something like this :
"For example, there is a company with a web application. One day, the database for that application is way too big, caused performance issues and others, what is the solution for that application database?"
At first, I thought that was about using multiple database with single app. But I don't know if I was right.
I want to ask that what are the solutions? If it's "multiple database" then what should I do? Using two connection to 2 database simutaneously?

And "redesign"?As in, design it from scratch and do it right this time. Make sure all data relations are properly defined to Third Normal Form; make sure all data is typed properly (use DATE columns for dates, NUMBER columns for numbers, etc); make sure you have designed effective indexing; make sure you use the capabilities of the rdbms and do NOT just use it as a data dump.

It depends on if the proposed solutions are implemented properly and address the root problem. The root problem (or even perceived problem) hasn't yet been defined. You've just assumed that at some undefined point the database becomes "way-too-big" and will cause some sort of problem.
It's assumed that we don't have or can't use partitioning.
And why is that assumed? Yes, you have to have a version of Oracle that supports it, and it is an extra cost license. But like everything else, you and your management have to do a hard-nosed cost/benefit analysis. You may think you can't afford the cost of implementing partitioning, but it may be that you can't afford the expenses derived from NOT implementing it. I don't know what the case is for you, but you and your management should consider the factors instead of just rejecting in out of hand.

Set your camera to take lower quality pictures is the obvious answer here. You can reduce the size of image already in iPhoto when exporting them.

All fonts in the toolbars are way too big after unplugging my laptop from a projector

When I plugged in a projector to my laptop (2010 MacBook Pro) all icons & fonts on my laptop went huge! I was able to mostly restore the size of the icons & fonts on my desktop after I unplugged the projector, but I can't get the font size in my toolbars back to the normal, standard size. I've tried to reset to default settings, but it makes no difference.

Although the guide is a little dated, a lot of the information there is really great and helps you track down a lot of files that are just taking up way too much space on your hard drive.

I just did this the other day on my Air running 10.9 and recovered around 50GB of disk space, so there is potentially a lot you can do. I suggest following the steps on this guide (to the T, don't want to mess anything up) and go from there. Don't delete ANYTHING that you are not aware of the function, and remember that searching for names of files is a great way to determine whether or not you need it. Some files that SEEM like junk and take up a considerable amount of space are system files that will either be replaced the next time you boot up or render you computer useless entirely.
For example, there is a file that saves the state of your computer just before it goes to sleep so that it can return quickly when you start up again, and that file is normally the size of the amount of RAM you have (I have 4GB of RAM, so the file was 4GB). After doing some research, this file will either be recreated if deleted, or your sleep mode will not be able to function properly if the file is deleted. So again, just tread lightly.
Also, there is an application I used to get rid of a bunch of duplicate files that I had on my drive called Gemini (http://macpaw.com/gemini), which I recommend using to clean up documents. Again, be careful, you don't want to go deleting files that you are using that the application mistook for a duplicate.

How do you make fonts back to default size in Firefox 24? They are blown way too big.

Since upgrading to Firefox 22 and 24, the font size has been extremely huge. The only way to make it smaller is ctrl - , but when I go to other sites the fonts are normal size.
I want to be able to get the default size font on the Firefox 24. I've been using Chrome because this has been so darned annoying, it's even causing Bing to screw up.
Can someone help me get this fixed?

This isn't the best way for it.
Coz my monitor isn't really big.(21.5')
It is very match for me by using 125%.
But for FF22(or above) is too big, and the photo will zoom in for 125%
that was a mess.
And Chrome has the function but it isn't default but adjust from "chrome://flags"

The "other" memory section on my Mac is WAY too big.

I know there are a LOT of discussions about this topic, but none of them really seemed to work for me. So the other day I got an error saying "Your startup disk is almost full". I immediately checked the storage section of "About my Mac", and sure enough, something like 100 GB were taken up by local backups. To fix this issue, I disabled local backups via this terminal command: sudo tmutil disablelocal.
I did a restart and checked my storage again. This time, it looked like this (and still does):
All of what used to be backups is now other. And the reason I have those 900 or so MB of backups is because I eventually turned those on again (with the reverse of the above command) in an effort to fix this. Out of options, I then went to the apple store, where they told me to just delete stuff that was too big. So I got a 1 TB drive and started copying and deleting stuff. The main thing I got rid of was a giant windows VM I had. And just to prove that something's wrong here, look at the breakdown of my files from OmniDiskSweeper:
If you do the math, I should have about 100 GB more free than I do now. I've tried:
Turning the thing off then on (you'd be surprised how often that works)
Resetting the PRAM
Forcing spotlight to reindex the machine
Throwing the machine out the window (well, not quite)
What I think might be the cause:
This is a stab in the dark here, but possibly all those GB of backups tried to delete themselves and somehow corrupted and aren not called backups anymore by the system?
Just one more thing: I noticed that OmniDiskSweeper showed a volume I don't recognize. It's called MobileBackups. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Issue syncing artwork: on-device DB is WAY too big!

I have an iPad and an iPhone. Both get music from the same source. Both take the tracks from my computer's library, downsize them to 128kps and there we are. However, the on-device Art Database sizes are very different and not in the way that makes sense. The size of the DB files was gathered using iPhone Explorer.
iPad has 4225 tracks. Art database is 2408MB
iPhone has 2334 tracks. Art database is 3104MB
A vast majority of the iPad library and the iPhone library overlap, so there is ZERO reason why the iPhone art DB takes up more space than the iPad's, unless something else is stored there that I dont understand. There are more FILES in the iPad DB, but they are overall smaller files. Each iPhone DB file is 200-500 MB. iPad DB files can be between 12-500MB
See the problem? Any thoughts? Any idea where I could direct this problem to, even? I just don't get it.

Iphone5 - safari is set touse google search, but redirects to a bogus site

When i use the web search in safari, it normally goes to google and displays my results. However, a few days ago it started sending me to a yahoo page that says 'this page cannot be found'. And when I try to enter the URL for google, it takes me to a google look-alike, but it isn't actually google. Nor does the page work.
Search works fine if I set the phone to Yahoo or Bing, but I much prefer Google. And frankly, I'm concerned I may have gotten some sort of iphone malware...

A few things happened since I've posted this.
1)I've deleted all the history and cookies from my macbook safari and when I opened the website with the issue, the problem did not happen this time.
2)Seeing this, I've deleted my history on iPhone's safari and opened the same website but the problem was there again.
3)The problem does not happen on iPad.
So, I do not have the problem at all on Google Chrome but on Safari (now just on iPhone)
Is this still about my router settings? If so would changing my phone DNS settings would suffice? Or do you think the problem might still remain on my computer as well?
This is so frustrating for a person who does not know anything about technology at all

Toolbar fonts way too small web pages way too big

Upgraded to FF23 which I freaking hate FF since 18 but don't have choice for my security. Font on toolbar is about 6px and webpages are about 300% of what is normal by looking at other pages. I know I know I've heard about going to the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in about:config but this only serves to reduce the font size on toolbar to about 2px. I have my settings on my machine set to 113% font size adjust but changing layout.css.devPixelsPerPx default setting does nothing but make webpages 300% enlarged and font size on toolbar almost okay.
I already have enough addons and why should I need to add two more just to see a webpage at its regular design size. An image that is 43x43px is showing up at 55x55px. The exact webpages look perfectly normal in all other browsers. So in spite of my support for FF projects I guess I will be leaving since users are not considered valuable.

Search finds way too many files

I'm speaking of the Search field you get in Finder when you press command+f: Other than files in application packages, I have two files that have a certain word in the file name, but Finder's command+f pulls back 98, all of them "regular" documents, like PDFs, Numbers, etc., and all but two do not have that word in the file name but they do have the word within the file. The Search field says "name contains:" -- so can get Finder to find only the file names and ignore those with the word inside the file (without using a third-party application)?

What? You don't like the fact that the new Spotlight makes it almost impossible to find things by name only and not the metadata content? I don't either, but can only suggest File a bug report with Apple against this loss of functionality or use a 3rd-party app.

Font on itunes way too big

i just reinstalled my OS and when i reinstalled itunes all the songs/ artists etc are too big i cant see playcount etc. i clicked Edit-preferences- and made both options small but its not enough... any ideas thanks

WAY Too Big!

I want to backup JUST the Users folder (actually just a couple users within the Users folder). The Users folder is 2.08 GB (according to the Finder). I exclude a bunch of things in Time Machine:
/Applications
/Library
/System
and
/Volumes/Hard Disk/Users/test1
/Volumes/Hard Disk/Users/NotCool
When I run Time Machine, the progress bar reads 4.84 GB of 37.75 GB!
How can that be? I'm just trying to back up (something that should be less than) 2.08 GB. My external drive has 58.19 GB (which will work in Time Machine), but if Time Machine thinks my Users folder is 37.75 GB, the external drive ain't gonna work for long as a Time Machine backup.
What's going on here? Again, I'm only trying to back up (less than) 2.08 GB.

Get Info/Finder says my /private folder is 3 GB.

Hard drives are quite inexpensive these days; please consider getting one that's at least 2-3 times the size of your internal HD (plus any other partitions you'd like to back up). When (not if) your internal HD fails, or something else awful happens to your Mac, you can restore the OSX partition in one process, to the exact condition it was in at the time of any backup you select, even if that's a different version of OSX; and data-only volumes in one (different) process each.
In Time Machine, I excluded the other partition on the external drive that has the partition holding my Time Machine backup.
If there are other (HFS+) partitions on your internal HD, Time Machine will back them up too, unless you specifically exclude them.

1-7 was the first group that I excluded coincident with my original post. Estimated size of backup was 37.75 GB. I just added number 8 to see if the eliminating one of the references to the thing I really do want to back up reduced the backup size appreciably, and it did not. Time Machine still estimates the size of the backup is over 38 GB.
You're missing /private, although as you say, that's only 3 GB.
On the exclusions page, after clicking the plus sign, click the +Show invisible items+ box; there are several other hidden folders, but none should be of much size.
This is such a hassle, of course, because Time Machine is meant to back up your entire system, so it's geared to let you select a few things to omit, not back up only a few items.
You might check the hidden /Volumes folder; it won't show up that way for some reason, but if you select +Go > Go to Folder+ via a Finder window's menubar and type /Volumes in the prompt, you'll see it. It should contain only aliases, but on occasion a problem will cause OSX to create an actual folder there, and write data to it. You may have something quite large lurking there.

The new ios7 update I can't size my wallpapers anymore. They are all way too big for the screen. Before I would just pinch to size it however I wanted and now it won't do this anymore. Really ***** because now you can't see the wallpapers fully.

Yes you can delete those temporary files as long as you've saved any changes you've made back to the main document. So I'd open the document with the same name without the ~ and hidden file attribute and make sure it's the way you want it. Then you can delete the temporary file.
The key command you want to enlarge text in internet explorer holding down command and hitting the =/+ key. Conversely the command and - key makes text in internet explorer smaller.

Photo Size is WAY TOO BIG!

Once I synch a photo album I created specifically for the iphone I notice the file sizes bloat on the Iphone to literally almost 1mb per photo. I exported my photos using Picasa and resized the .jpg files so they are around 40kb per pic. This means with around 374 photos the disk size on my PC is 26MB. Once I synch using itunes to my iPhone 3g the photos now take up around 300mb on the iphone. This is totally nuts as it is inflating my pics by a ratio of almost 15 times.
I understand that itunes creates the Photo Cache folder after iTunes performs the photo optimization. I have performed some research and learned that some people think iTunes is actually converting .jpg file types to a raw .tif or .bmp type format so the iPhone (ipod or whatever as this happens on all devices) can quickly display the image and not have to use Processor power to unzip the compressed file types like.jpg.
I guess I can understand this but to me what a joke. This is really limiting the number of files I can dispaly on my iPhone and considering that the audio .mp3 format is compressed and the iPhone can handle real-time decompression of that format I think this is more of a bug or just plane old bad design.
I would like an answer from Apple on why this is done in this matter as I could store literally 15 times the pictures on my device but currently I'm getting robbed of my precious iPhone disk space.

Part of the problem is that iTunes makes multiple copies of each photo in different sizes when you sync. This is to support zooming and rotating. This article:

Alas, I think it means you won't get a solution. I guess Apple thought that with 8GB/16GB to play with, a few megabytes here and there wouldn't be such an issue
