Safari freezes the whole Mac when I open new tab

When ever I click open a new tab or use Command + T
The Mac freezes and does not respond. All the apps are stuck for about 1 minute.
Why is this happening , how can I fix it?
Thank you

Hmm…try this:
1. Go to Home/Library/Cookies and delete the Cookies.plist file.
2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
3. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Web Page Previews and delete the contents of that folder.
4. If you don't want to use the Top Sites or Cover Flow features, open Terminal and paste in this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSnapshotsUpdatePolicy -int 2
then press Enter or Return and quit Terminal
5. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
6. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
7. Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete these files (if you have them):
Downloads.plist
History.plist
Form Values
LastSession.plist
WebpageIcons.db
Then Repair Permissions, restart Safari and see if the problem continues.

• Open tab doesn't work when hitting the + or going to file, open new tab. automatic ones will work, but not manually.

does not open tabs by hitting the + or by selecting file, open new tab. i am operating under mac os x software and have updated firefox twice now with no resolution to this issue.

Many users have discovered this problem (in Firefox 30 and higher) is caused by Conduit add-ons, such as a Conduit plugin and/or a "Community Toolbar" extension.
You can check for and disable extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Command+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
(1) In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential plugins to "Never Activate".
(2) In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that help with the "+" button? If so, could you name the specific plugin/extension that caused the problem?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Software? See if you can get it removed with some anti-malware tools. Spybot, AVG, Kapersky, et cetera...
If you know the name of the program, you could search the registry for any instance of that name and --be CAREFUL--delete them.
And I have to ask: Did you go back to Firefox after uninstalling this program and reset the "when I open a new tab..." setting? What about your home page?

• When I open new tabs it is an AOL tab. I have Fire F as my homepage? How do I change this?

I set my home page to mozilla or yahoo, but when I open new tabs it keeps bringing up AOL search engine. I don't want this b/c it is useless and always brings up irrelevant search results. How do I change what tabs open up after homepage is set?

You should just be able to choose whatever search engine you prefer
* [[Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox]]
There is however a possibility you may have some toolbar or other software installed that is changing setting. Initially look in your Firefox addons and Windows control panel for unwanted software

• 10.1 freezes the whole system when working in full screen

After upgrading to 10.1, I found out that my Mac was freezed several times when FCPX is in full screen in the background while I am using Safari in the foreground. When I say freezed, I mean I can move my mouse but none of the screen UI is responsive and what I can do is to hard boot my iMac.
Anyone experienceing similar issue?
However, using FCPX 10.1 in windows mode seems fine. Exporting seems quicker.

I'm having similar issues on my MBPR 15". 2.7 16GB. As i am teaching myself FCP X 10.1, I have moments where the timeline shows the project name without the picture (NOT THE RED MEDIA MISSING) and suddenly it unfreezes and starts working fine again.
I was playing with keyframing a clip and it was animating over black, so I added a Bg and restacked priority and when it started background rendering it hung again. The program would not accept any UI input.
Sometimes while it is frozen it doesn't always read (Not Responding) in the force quit window, it takes a while to display that message.
Force quit, restart and it runs for awhile then hangs again. The hang reports have been sent to Apple.
Anything to try Apple?

• How can I have the last command when I open new ttisql

Hi
Is it possible that when I open new ttisql windows I will be able to use all the recent commands from previous ttisql windows ?
Thanks

I don't think this is possible. ttIsql only stores the (last 100) commands of the current session. Refer to "Using ttIsql's command history" in the Operations Guide. You could store commands in a history file which would be persistent between ttIsql sessions but it's not a graceful way of achieving what you want.

• Have recently updated firefox. Previously, opening a new tab, cursor would be in google's search field, as google was my home page; now when I open new tab, cursor appears in url bar; this is bugging me a lot. How do I fix this setting?

cursor in URL bar when opening new tab; setting for this?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Why does my iPhoto freeze the whole computer when editing?

Every time I edit in iPhoto, the whole computer freezes after about a dozen adjustments of any kind. I have to manually shut down and restart as no key commands allow access to any other app or the Finder.

Hi, Terence ~
I'm using iPhoto '11, v. 9.1.5
with ± 5,000 photos in current iPhoto Library
running SnowLeopard, 10.6.8 --
capacity: 750 GB; available 695 GB
on my Mac mini >>>
Model Identifier: Macmini1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 1.66 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MM11.0055.B08
SMC Version (system): 1.3f4
The freezing has been happening for quite some time, since before I upgraded to Snow Leopard, before I upgraded to iPhoto '11 from iPhoto '09, before I upgraded my mac mini from a solo ore machine to a duo core with much more HD space, etc. I think it started when I first installed iPhoto '09 , but my memory fails me. I have had other events interspersed with this recurring annoyance, hoping that it would go away during one of the upgrades I mentioned. However, it persists. I have wondered about reinstalling iPhoto, but do not know if that means I will lose all my editing changes.
I do not know about any Console messages you refer to, but perhaps I am missing something. How would I find out? I do know that I am exhausted and frustrated by this. When the editing process causes the freezing, I cannot use any of the key escapes, cannot even shut down other than manually. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you for taking an interest in my dilemma.

• When I open new tabs, sometimes I can't scroll in the current tab and I have to click on Firefox to make it an active window. Is this common and how do I fix it

Same as the question

'''Try the Firefox SafeMode''' to see how it works there.
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
* You can open the Firefox 4.0+ SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
'''''If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
