Safari freezing  and no connectivity afterwards- DSL Connection -

hi.
this just started yesterday, so I am not sure what is going on. but here goes.
I have DSL 6.0 for a month now and it has been great. Until last night when I was just surfing around and I couldn't get Yahoo to load. I then attempted to access my router / DSL modem. No luck. had to kill safari, then nothing would connect. Email, web browsers, etc.. Only a restart freed it up.
I ran tests on modem, router, reset/powered them off etc. Same thing happed after just a few minutes of surfing.
Out of ideas, I decided to RESET Safari. That seemed to help as it did not freeze up again this morning. usually happens after about 10 mins of surfing.
I don't think it's the DSL line or my Di-624 router.
Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions?

For Safari freezing. Go to the Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If that didn't help, could be a Safari third party add on that was compatible with the prior verion of Safari but not 5.1
Troubleshooting help here >  Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
For Wi Fi:
Go to /Library/Preferences/System Configuration.
Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.

  • IPhone 4s keeps freezing and not connecting to wifi. Keeps turning it off?

IPhone 4s keeps freezing and not connecting to wifi. Been like this for last 6 months.. Am real fed up with it.. Have reset, tried turning off but still not connecting.. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Does "have reset" mean that you restored the phone to factory settings? If not, you might want to give that a try. You will want to backup first so that you can restore your data from the backup after you restore the iOS software.
This will erase the phone and also download and install the most recent iOS version available for your device.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Safari freezes with WiFi connection working properly

    Hello,
While using my Macbook Air, (I bought it in Nov2012, so.. supposed to be brand new!!) and trying to connect in the internet, using Safari and Wifi, it usually freezes and won't load any pages.
I did check my Wifi router and it works fine. I have 2 iPhones and 1 Ipad connecting to this Wifi router and these devices are working fine.
The problem is when I turn on Macbook air, it shows that the connection with the Wifi router is ok, I got all bars in the signal, and then when I tried to open Safari, it frezees in the main page and won't load it. (The rest of the devices continue working fine.. )
I tried some of the posts here.. like enable/disable plug-ins, disk repair, deleting plist, upgrading my OS and also upgrading my Safari (there no newest version available to be downloaded for both Safari and Mac OS).
Also, I tried the "Assist me" option... and it shows like my Internet is not working.. all green spots until ISP.. then red light at Internet test..
but it is working for all other computers in the same Wifi.
My best guess is that some configuration in the Network part is not properly set up.. or even my Safari configuration is messing up my Internet connection when I tried to load facebook for example.
I got it working for a while.. when I had all the other devices turned OFF.. (like Iphones and Ipad) , and then I had to reboot my Macbook Air.. then it works for some minutes.. but then, suddenly, it stop working. (Seems that it's trying to load some Java Scripts in the page and it keeps trying and trying.. )
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

So this not being your router's problem let's conclude that iPod is the culprit! You were saying that it worked properly until recently so it might be a iOS related problem. Try restoring the firmware using iTunes! But before, backup everything and proceed through it! After restoring, iTunes will ask about restoring the data or setting it up as a new one - DON'T RESTORE. Let the backup be there, try setting it up as new. Then verify the wifi connectivity, if all goes right then you can restore from backup! If all else fails, your device may require an authorised personnel attention asap! Cheers!

  • How do I stop FaceTime on my MacBook Pro from freezing and dropping connection constantly?

I only have this issue with FaceTime on my MacBook Pro; FaceTime works fine on my iPad Mini and iPhone 5S. I'll be talking with someone over FaceTime and it will randomly freeze and/or say it's lost the connection and I usually have to turn my Wifi off and on again and it reconnects. Every time I click on the Wifi icon in the top it says it's looking for networks. Why would it be looking for networks? It's almost always within 10-15 feet of my wireless router and nothing else in my house has an issue maintaining a connection with it. Is there some kind of unnecessary setting on my MacBook Pro that tells it to constantly search for other networks even though I've only set it up for one network?

Were you able to download and save the DMG (disk image file) for Firefox?
If there are problems with updating or permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (DMG) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 16.0.2: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.<br />
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

  • Safari freezes and won't open pages

Hi, I have been suffering from Safari freezing whilst opening the homepage, and then when click on any links it just stops loading anything. My homepage has been set to yahoo.co.uk, which partially opens, but then seems to not want to load images. The text and links show, but the links just don't react when clicked on. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now. I also have IE installed, which is fine, but I want to migrate to Safari for web use as more and more sites are recommending it.
    Can anyone help?
I also have an iTunes problem, which may or may not be related, but I'll post that in the relevant discussion.

Updating to Safari 6 for Lion may help.
Click here >  Safari Quits Every Time Opened: Apple Support Communities
Click the link posted by:  gregoryfromcork
That will automatically download this file >  Safari6Lion.pkg.download
    Now quit Safari.
Go to your Downloads folder and double click that file and follow the instructions for installing.
Then restart your Mac, try Safari.

  • Safari freezes and not respond, Chrome works great why?

I just upgraded to Yosemite, and Safari keeps freezing and not responding I have tried everything from removing aches, remove web history but keep freezing. On the other hand, Chrome works fantastic so needs to be something only related with Safari. Apple says Safari goes 6x faster than other web browser, well in my hands in can prepare my lunch and finish it before it opens one page, so 6x faster maybe in Cupertino because not in my laptop. Any suggestions of how to fix the Safari????

    Hi ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
No open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Updated to Yosemite, safari freezes and cannot type into word

I updated to Yosemite and my Safari has been freezing, and MS word will not work, I cannot type into new documents. I can open them, I can type here (so the keyboard works), but I cannot type in word

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Safari
Right-click or control-click the line and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Quit the application if it's running. Move all files in that folder with a name beginning in "History" to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the items you moved back where they were, overwriting the ones that may have been created in their place. Otherwise, delete the items you moved. If possible, restore them from a backup that predates the problem.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Safari freezes and crashes when swiping forward or back pages

I recently updated to Mavericks and I noticed that when I swipe to the left or right when either backpaging or forward paging the active tab freezes and crashes. It doesnt crash the entire safari program just the tab that is active. I can open another new tab and i can continue using the browser. Any ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot insafe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

  • Safari freezing and/or quitting unexpectedly - why?

Over the past couple of months, Safari has started locking up or freezing with the little rainbow wheel - it gets stuck like this and I have to Force Quit. The other thing it does is just randomnly quit for no particular reason. Will downloading the beta version of Safari help?
This rainbow wheel has been showing up a lot - I am not a super-heavy user. I usually have Mail open and Safari and iTunes. But it seems like my Mac has a cold or something - it just keeps running more slowly and I'm not sure why, since it is still pretty new!
I'm new to Mac overall - I've had my Macbook for about 8 months and love it, except I don't know what to do about this problem with Safari!

it just keeps running more slowly and I'm not sure why
A build-up of caches etc can do this. Try this:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions.
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
Will downloading the beta version of Safari help?
No, not until you get Safari 2 fixed. Then it will!

I've tried (many times) using Troubleshooter and it says that theres no internet connection but there is, every other site I go to loads perfectly and outlook opens and collects email so its not the wi-wi connection - HELP!!!!

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

IPhone 6 cannot connect to wireless and it is freezing up. Anyone else having this issue? The wireless button to turn on is not responsive!  I am not happy!

    Start at spotlight search
    Find results on maps
Touch results to go to contact page
Scroll to bottom touch add to existing contact
When contacts appear touch search to find existing contact
Phone freezes at this point  and only a soft reset will allow continued use.

  • Safari freezes and I cannot reset

    Hi all,
Since 2 weeks I cannot use my safari browser.
Every time I oped it i get the colored spinning ball and nothing works after that.
I tried several things but nothing works so far. Using alternative browser in mean time but want safari back asap.
Can you help? What can I try?
The reset option I read about the most but this is not in this last version of safari any longer.
Also, I have about 3 seconds to work in safari before everything freezes in safari. Not a lot of time to work with options and settings..
I am stuck. Please, if you have suggestions, I am all ears.
    Thanks.

While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
