Safari frequently hangs up loading web sites.  reloading the site ususally lets it load.

Seemingly at random, web sites stopped loading before completion.  Hitting the reload button usually then causes the site to load.

From the menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit, relaunch Safari to test.
Try Safari > Preferences - Privacy. Click Remove All Website Data. Quit, relaunch Safari to test.
If you installed anti virus software, disable that.
If you installed any Safari third party add ons, follow the instructions here > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try deleting the cache.db file.
Quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safar/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • Safari doesn' t open some web site

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Mac Mini: From Yesterday Safari doesn' t open many web sites. I tried to cancel cache and chronology, but without success.
I tried to download another browser, but It I can' t.
    What can i do?
    Thanks

Avast is the problem. This is a list of links for threads regarding Avast and the issues it can cause on your Mac  > Community Search: Apple Support Communities
Follow the instructions for uninstalling Avast >  How to remove Avast Antivirus from a Mac
If you really want to have anti virus software installed on your Mac, try Free Antivirus for Mac Tool Download | Sophos
Do not install Sophos before completely removing Avast.

  • I can't open my work web site it lets me go right to the login page and won't open how can I fix this

I can't open my work web site it let's me go to the login page then it won't go any further how do I fix this

To see whether this problem is caused by the new HTML5 parser feature in Firefox 4, you can turn it off like this:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''html5''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''html5.parser.enable''' to toggle it to false (it will turn bold).
Then return to your work site and reload the page.
Does that make any difference? If so, you can leave it that way. If not, you might as well switch it back (double-click that preference again to toggle it back to true.)
If not, and you need to roll back, here's the process:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

  • Safari doesn't open certain web sites

    Hi there,
I'm a web designer working on a new site. My clients say that their Mac which is running Safari 5.1.5 won't open their web site which is: http://www.adventuress.us
I've asked about 5 other people to see if they could open it up on a mac using Safari.  So far, everyone can open it except for my client.
Can you help me troubleshoot this?  The site is created with wordpress.  It's not redirecting.
I'm really not sure which Mac they have or their operating system.  I just chose two so that I could submit this ticket.
What in the world would stop them from being able to see the site? They can go to other sites.
    Thanks.

    Hi...
What in the world would stop them from being able to see the site?
Ask if they have anti virus software installed ..
It would help to know for sure which Mac OS X they have installed. Click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen. From the drop down menu click: About This Mac.
I'm running Lion v10.7.3 with Safari 5.1.5 on one Mac without any problems loading that site. Same with another Mac running Snow Leopard v10.6.8.
I am using OpenDNS which may help your client and is suggested by Apple > Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, blocks the flashback trojan, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Try that site.

  • My safari can't open no web sites at all

I have actualised the safari to 5.0.5 (for Leopard) and still cant open any web site.
    I use leopard Mac OS X 10.5.8
Without opening safari my xmarks for safari ask to download an actualisation but it cant go to the web page.
With Firefox or Chrome I dont have any trouble.
    Any help?
    Thanks

I suspect it has something to do with your ISP.
Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.

  • Safari can't open specifics web sites

i'm having troubles to re-open some web sites visited earlier.
I'm on a macbook pro with leopard and safari 5.0.1, all updates installed
    Example: www.tgcom.it
The first time opened without any problem, the second time can't open again.
after typing the address and hit the return key, safari display immediately (without even trying to load the page) the white page with the alert:
Safari can't connect to the server.
Safari can't open the page “http://www.tgcom.it/” because safari can't connect to the server “www.tgcom.it”.
I've try already to reset Safari and clean the cache. No changes.
On the same network I have an iMac, which is loading this page anytime without any problem.
As well a windows PC is on the same home network, the page can be loaded too.
Only on this macbook pro i'm experiencing this issue.
I don't know what to think more..... the problem can't be the web-site (it works with other machines)
Other web sites on the macbook are working properly, only three address seams to be blocked from this machine only....
    any suggestions???? thanks
    Marco

  • Safari 2.0.3 : certain web sites don't recognize correct login/password

Just upgraded to 10.4.4 and with this to safari 2.0.3.
From this day on I can't gain access to some web sites that require a log/pass because it says it is incorrect. ( Note the password I type is the correct one and works with explorer...).
One of these sites is msn passport.net: in this case the web site asks me to rewrite some characters that appear in a box, and when I do it says that they don't match.
It seems as if the charcters I write are not interpreted the same way by the web site.
I have cookies active, I emptyied cache... don't have other ideas.
    Anyone can be of help?

  • Time machine and Safari - how to get old web sites saved

    Hi
How can I get my old web sites that were in safari before I had to do a Archive and install, can I look in Time machine or even on a external drive that I saved my full system on?
    Ta

If you did an Achieve and Install the bookmarks might be in the Previous System Folder. You'll find this folder on the main hard drive. There should be a user folder there and you should be able to get your bookmarks from there....It's worth a look see...
    User--->Home Folder--->Library--->Safari folder--->Bookmarks.plist
If you find the Previous System Folder you should look in there and take what you need. You shouldn't let a Previous System Folder hang around. You could run into conflicts.

  • Safari Not working on certain web sites......

There are many sites where Safari does not work correctly.
    A example is eBay.com and GoogleBase.com
Where you are trying to enter text in the "sell a item" window.
I have been told by these sites that I need to update to a newer version or Safari.
    I am running Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3) on a iMac G5 2.1Mhz OSX 10.4.8
When I Use Foxfire on these web sites I have NO problem entering text.
    Why will Safari not work?
    Is Safari to old?
Are the web sites to new?
    Thanks
    1.5GHz G4 PowerBook & 2.1 GHz G5 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Complying with security standards and complying with web design standards are two entirely different things.
Many web sites don't comply with web design standards - it's an unfortunate fact of life. In a very many cases, it's because the sites are designed to work with Windows Internet Explorer* with no attempt to make sure the web sites work with any other browsers or on any other platforms. Usually that doesn't result in the inability of a web browser to access the site properly, but in some cases it does.
*(In case anyone thinks Windows Internet Explorer should be the standard, this simply isn't realistic, despite possibly sounding sensible on the face of it. Web design standards are based on usability guidelines and and well-researched methods to make web page code more practical, streamlined, and able to be used on a variety of devices and by people with a variety of needs. They're not just a set of rules that can be changed on a whim to conform to a certain web browser's quirky way of rendering sites. Internet Explorer is notorious for not being compliant with agreed upon web standards. Internet Explorer is even inconsistent in how it renders web pages from one IE version to the next, complicating matters even further.)

  • Safari Mac can't access web site that Windows can

None of my Macs can access the site http://cards.123greetings.com . I get Can't Find Server messages in both Safari and Firefox. (Clearing caches doesn't help)
cards.123greetings.com is part of a large free card site that did a major upgrade in October. It still renders correctly on a PC running Windows XP Home which runs on the same network as the Macs, so it's not an isp problem.
Since both Macs (G4 iBook running 10.3, MacBook running 10.4) have the same Can't Find Server problem with both Safari and Firefox, it appears that some setting in the Macs themselves is causing this.
Any help or insight would really be appreciated - Thanks!

A big Thank You to Mulder for letting me know that you can access the site (with Mac Safari I presume) - That's good news.
The bad news: I still can't access the site.
The problem affects two separate computers and four browers. Taking your advice, I repaired permissions and logged in as a new account on both machines. Unfortunately that didn't work.
I next tried accessing the site on the MacBook through Parallels running Windows XP Home. The site came up fine using Internet Explorer.
Then I realized that Parallels operates with a different ip address. So I went back on the Mac using a proxy, and the site came right up.
It now seems that the ip addresses of both computers are being blocked at some level. I want to thank Mulder for replying and virtually ruling out that it might be a Safari issue. I'm now "off topic" and will no longer post in this section. But I'm also over my head... If anyone has advice about how to proceed now, I'd truly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

  • SAFARI CRASH ON AMERICAN EXPRESS WEB SITE

Suddenly about 7 months ago, when I click the "print payment confirmation" button, the page shows up ready to print and then SAFARI crashes.  I'm unable to send the alert to Apple, even after I've opened SAFARI again.  American Express can't help me.  I don't know if this has anything to do with "Empty Cache", which I do often.  ARGH.... I can do "Grab" but am unable to get the offical page.  Any ideas anyone?  iMac OSX 10.5.8, Safari 5.0.6

Your version of Safari may be too old to work with that site. It's certainly too old for Apple to accept bug reports. Try another browser, such as Firefox.
