Safari frozen, tried everything

Safari frozen with blank screen, no url shown and nothing in search space either, no cursor. I have force quit the app, cleared cache, history, and cookies, force restarted, and even went so far as to do a complete restore, and it hasn't changed anything. All other apps seem to work just fine, and I installed another browser for web access, which also works fine, but of course any link to a website calls up Safari, so none of those links work. Any other ideas?

Go to ~/Library/Safari
Move these files to the Trash.

Restart your Mac, try Safari.

my iphone is frozen tried everything

IF ALL ELSE FAILS - OR IT KEEPS CRASHING..... i really mean **everything** has failed as it all did for me after 2 days of trying EVERYTHING.
(Well you can go to Apple shop / send back under warranty etc but I bought mine second hand)....
    SO ---->
    - Plug iPhone to MAINS or CAR charger. There is NO button pressing involved here AT ALL.
    - Leave it to its own devices... Battery red light may come on... THEN eventually, 1 min, maybe 10 mins, Apple logo comes on.
    - Leave alone and in time it will then BLEEP.
    - Touch nothing... It will then boot up of its own accord..
    - You may get your home screensaver or it may say ACTIVATE.
    - Follow option to activate if it asks.
    - If iTunes doesn't work to reboot / restore / backup (itunes can be part of the problem), be in a Wifi zone.
    - Follow reset options taking least extreme options first but....
IF ALL ELSE FAILS (as it did for me and I am smoking cigarettes in both ears now....)
    - Do a full reset, the one where you wipe out all content. It could be a corrupted file you put on, a dodgy music file who knows... This is extreme though you may have stuff backed up. But it works! It's taken a while but all is OK again now. This is the ONLY way I could get going again short of paying out to have it fixed.
I willl stroke my iPhone with loving care and be more carefull what I put on in future hoping it stays good
    GOOD LUCK!

  • IMac - LAGS, especially in Safari! Tried everything please help!

    Hey everyone!
I have a desktop iMac and in the last few months it has slowed WAY down and its doing my head in!
I bought it 2 and a half years ago and never had these problems with it. It has 4gb of RAM, 500 gb hard drive and i updated to Lion, which is possibly when it started going wrong!
    ISSUES:
-Safari majorly lags, especially with YouTube and other online videos, usually gets to about 30 second in then the video stops and lags so badly it freezes the entire machine, i have to force quit Safari!
-simple things such as searching for a file with spotlight has become such a drag. i type in for example 'work invoice' and it takes roughly about 20 seconds so show anything, it used to show it in about 0.000001 seconds lol!
-pretty much everything is much slower now but the main issue is definitely Safari!
    WHAT IVE TRIED:
-ive taken it to my local apple repair shop and they found NOTHING wrong, nothing at all, they had the thing for 3 days and found nothing! they ran so many tests and nothing was wrong with the machines hardware, which is annoying i was hoping it would find something!
-ive repaired all the permissions, reset safari several times, transferred about 200gb worth of stuff to external and still no luck
-removed several start up programs and background programs, still nothing, emptied the cache folder like advised by apple over the phone, NOTHING
Im literally stumped i cannot think of anything else that i can do so im hoping all you Apple experts out there have a simple fix for me because its driving me nuts lol!
PLEASE HELP ME, i love my Mac and i want it back to the way it should be!!!!!!!
    Thanks a lot

  • Ipod touch frozen tried everything nothing works i tried holding both buttons usually when it freezes its frozen until it dies but now when it dies and i go to recharge it its still frozen its brand new what to do?

i really dont want to bring it back to apple and end up losing everything on it especially my game

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

  • IPod frozen and not showing up in iTunes, I've tried everything

My iPod Nano (2nd generation) has "Do not disconnect" on the screen whether or not it is connected to the computer, and it will not show up in iTunes, and I do not think that it is showing up in "My Computer." I think I have tried everything that the support section suggested, but my iPod still says "Do not disconnect" on the screen and iTunes freezes up every time I try to restore it.
    What happened:
I went to the iTunes store and bought an album, so then I plugged in my iPod to get those songs on my iPod. If it matters, I'm using my mom's laptop for iTunes because my computer does not have XP, and I plug the iPod into the USB slot. My iPod's screen showed the words "Do not disconnect" and I waited for the iPod to show up on iTunes and for it to say updating or whatever it does when it puts new songs on it. Well the iPod never showed up, and iTunes had frozen. I did the good old "ctrl + atl + delete" and iTunes was not responding so I clicked "End task." Then I went down to click on iTunes again and it would not come up. I tried again, and nothing. I clicked on iTunes in the Start menu and it wouldn't come up. So then I decided to restart the computer so that I could get iTunes to work. The computer turned off, but would not turn on. It showed the same screen for about 10 min and nothing was happening. I was afraid to disconnect the iPod since it still said "Do not disconnect" so it was still plugged in. I then switched off the power on the laptop, and tried to turn it back on. It was stuck on the same screen again, and I waited for about 10 min, and I finally disconnected the iPod and the computer promptly started up. The iPod still said "Do not disconnect," and pushing buttons did nothing. I pulled up iTunes and plugged my iPod back in, but iTunes did not show the iPod on the side like it should. So I closed it and tried again, and after about 20 tries of restarting the computer, unplugging and plugging the iPod, and reopening iTunes, I eventually got the iPod to show and it asked to restore it, so I clicked ok. As it was restoring the bar was moving back and forth and then it just stopped, and I moved the mouse and realized that iTunes had frozen again. I was forced to "End task" and I had to restart the computer. I've gone through this cycle about 20 times, and about every 15 min I will get the iPod to show up on iTunes (but it does not recognize the iPod's name or the type of iPod) and no matter what I try to do next iTunes freezes up and I have to restart the computer. Sorry for the long read, I just didn't want to leave out any detail. I've been trying to get it to work for a few hours and I'm getting very frustrated, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My Safari keeps crashing too, and I've tried everything!

My Safari keeps on crashing upon launching, just like everyone else's, it seems. I have tried everything I can find on here to fix it. I've tried erasing the cookies files. I've downloaded Pacifist and the 10.4.11 bundle, isolated Safari, and tried both updating it, then re-installnig it. I've even tried to drag the Safari icon from the Pacifist-isolated bundle onto the desktop and opening that file, but that hasn't worked either. Before a few days ago, Safari has always worked fine, and it's still working fine on my other laptop, the Powerbook, but I'm still running 10.2 on this one. Can you please help? I really need my more-advanced laptop to work. I've included the error report file. Any information you could provide would be wonderful. Thank you!

I fixed the issue. It was related to the DEP settings on my windows machine.

    Try a few things:
First, try double tapping the home button. You should see a row of apps at the bottom; these are your recenty opened apps. Hold your finger down on any of the icons until they start to shake, and a red minus() appears. Tap the red minus for each app. This will close the app, not delete it. If you have too many apps open, this can cause crashes.
If it still crashes, try the basic troubleshooting steps here:

    Hello SavannahSweetie,
I was looking into the issue you are desribing, and found a great article for troubleshooting wifi connections with iOS devices. It's called iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections and can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Start with this section, and work your way down if needed.
    Basic troubleshooting
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware. For AirPort Base Stations, refer to this article for information about firmware updates. For third-party Wi-Fi routers, check the manufacturer's website for details on updating your firmware.
Restart your iOS deviceHold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
    All the best,
    Sterling

    Try this DNS server.
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
    Click + and type:
    208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
BTW, if you don't mention what you have tired that didn't work, we have no way of knowing.

Your modem dose not have access to the internet, maybe the modem's main broadband cable is disconnected.
You should contact your ISP for access to the internet,he will come to your house and configure the modem...

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Backing up, Updating and Restoring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues...
Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first...
