Safari/gmail error with an internet plug-in

After a recent security update have been getting a box indicating error with an internet plug-in. This ouccurs with gmail "attempted to load an internet plug-in, but a plug-in error occurred." Close the box and e-mail seems to work fine. Same issue with websites and moving to different pages within the sites. Plug-in error, but afer closing the box can use the page. Each change to another page results in the pop-up error box.

What's the plug-in that's being requested, and what's the text of the error message you're receiving?
Which version of OS X or OS X Server are you working with?
Which version of Safari, if that's the browser you're using?
Strictly as a guess and as two products that have security issues and updates in recent times, maybe there's a down-revision version of Adobe Flash or of Oracle Java around?  Updates to those can be required.

  • Get error "Safari can't find the Internet plug-in"

I get error when I tried to open a Potcast on IBM's website in Safari 5 for Windows 7
"Safari can't find the Internet plug in. Some content on the page "IBM Cloud Computing - idea - United States - United States' Can't be shown because its MIME type is unspecified.
    I checked these settings
    -Plug-ins enabled in edit\preferences\security
    -Java enabled in edit\preferences\security
    -JavaScript enabled in edit\preferences\security
-Quick Time Player 7.6.6 is installed and works
-Potcast works on Google and IE. Note: IE prompted for MIME type configuration, clicked Yes and Potcast worked.
I tried to search the web for answer but couldn't find solution for this error.
I checked Apple's forum and didn't find anything so Please help.
    thanks

Is that the "Listen and learn about cloud computing and the IBM difference" podcast on this page, Concise?
    http://www.ibm.com/smarterplanet/us/en/cloud_computing/ideas/index.html
If so, I can replicate the effect on my XP SP3 box (running Safari 5.0).
A bit odd, because it just looks to be a QuickTime plugin when I click on it in IE.
The W3C Markup validation service doesn't like the code on that page much:
    [88 Errors, 69 warning(s)|http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ibm.com%2Fsmarter planet%2Fus%2Fen%2Fcloud_computing%2Fideas%2Findex.html&charset=%28detect+automa tically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0]
... but it might be worth doing a "Help > report bugs to Apple" (in Safari) just in case the effect isn't related to the code.
(If anyone has suggestions for Concise on workarounds to get safari to play the podcast, please feel free to leap in.)

  • I just did the 10.6.8 update.  I'm getting an error An error occurred with an Internet plug-in"

I am trying to prepare to install Mountain Lion.  I did the most recent update a few hours ago.  Now my MacBook is running very slow & I get an error message "An error occured with an internet plug-in".  I can click OK and continue onto the page, but it's every single new page online that I'm getting this error.

Fingers crossed, I might have fixed it.  I uninstalled & reinstalled Adobe and so far, so good.

  • Safari can't fid the internet plug-in MIME TYPE

To sum my problem, it has been discussed in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1490105&start=0&tstart=0
I have followed every step and everything mentioned I have it, I quit Safari and started it again and I still see the little blue box and the same error message regarding the plug-in.
Flash adobe is up-to-date, but I can't seem to make it work.
On the other hand, it works with Firefox without any problems.

  • Safari having trouble with hotel internet login

I stayed at a new hotel recently. The hotel had wireless internet access, whereby I had to enter a user name and password. Normally when I open my browser or a new page within, the request is redirected to the login screen of the internet provider, I enter said name and password, and I'm connected to the internet. Safari would not execute the redirect. I could not get to the login page. I could see the address of the page flash briefly in the address bar, but Safari would then just declare it could not connect to the internet, no internet access available. When I went to the Internet system preferences and chose TCP/IP, I could see that the Airport had a valid IP address. And, I could easily connect with my iPhone. But Safari would not get me to that login page.
After an hour and a half, including 30 minutes spent on the phone with the internet providers' tech support, I gave up and went to bed. I need to find the solution to this problem before I go back to that hotel. Thanks.

    HI Brian,
Try maintenance and see if that helps...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
If you have Safari 3rd party plugins or Input Managers, they may not be compatible with 10.6 or Flash. Go here for trouble shooting. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
If you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. *Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

  • Errors with LR/Blog plug-in

    To the beautiful Lightroom community:
Maybe you can help me figure something out.
I've been using the LR/Blog plugin to send images to my Wordpress site, and it's been an invaluable workflow help.
But now it's not working... or rather, it seems to function fine for one or two images, but anytime I try to send say 10, I get this error:
An internal error has occurred: Error Domain=NSXMLParserErrorDomain Code=70 "Line 1: Space required after the Public Identifier Line 1: SystemLiteral " or ' expected Line 1: SYSTEM or PUBLIC, the URI is missing " UserInfo=0x628000c6d080 {NSLocalizedDescription=Line 1: Space required after the Public Identifier Line 1: SystemLiteral " or ' expected Line 1: SYSTEM or PUBLIC the URI is missing}.
I'm not sure if it's a glitch introduced by a recent Wordpress upgrade, or something else going on...  I've tried contacting the developer but no response yet, and I'm antsy to get this working again.
If anyone might have any suggestions as to how to best debug this, I'd be eternally grateful.
    Many thanks,
    -jj

I have similar problem with the LR/Blog addon in Lightroom, but with a slightly different error message: "Unable to export: An internal error has occurred: ./LRLib_XMLRPC.lua:166: XML-RPC fault (405) - The service for XML-RPC is disabled for this web site."
I'm a Creative Cloud subscriber and I usually update my computer accordingly when updates comes available. The same goes for my Wordpress installation. The problem started today, and the very same day I updated "Premiere Pro CC, Bridge CC and Photoshop CC", as well as the "Wordfence Security" plugin in Wordpress.
    Any suggestion?

  • "Safari can't find the internet plug-in" I want to remove this warning

Is there a way to get rid of this warning without having to install the required plugin?

It's flash. I moved the plugin in the /library/internet plugins/ folder to a separate folder.
I find flash ads annoying and I use a separate browser to view flash content, when I need to.
I've tried other things. I've tried using the disable plug-ins option. I still want to use the other plugins. I don't want to use input-manager hacks such as saft and the like.
The only other option is to use clicktoflash. Not the best option since I still get gradient boxes that say flash on them (I'd rather have empty space). But if I can't get rid of the pop-up warnings I'm going to be using this.

Whenever I run Server Admin and connect to the server, there is a very long delay before loading up the services and then stalls on Windows. An error window displays everytime. I have tried deleting the preferences file for Server Admin, I have tried replacing the servermgr_smb script in the cgi-bin folder, I have tried replacing the servermgr_smb bundle... Hallo Leute,

  • QuickTime Internet plug-in not working????

I can't see media in webpages. I just installed Q.T. 7, and it's not working. Can somebody please tell me what to do?

    Apple Discussions!
"tried the flash recommendation wihout success."
Did you repair permissions & restart after installing flash? If so, then try the following:
To fix a QT related problem w/Safari, quit Safari & look in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder (this is the Library folder at the root level of your HD, not the one inside your Users/user name folder).
Try removing the VLC Plugin.plugin (if you have it) & *QuickTime Plugin.webplugin files from this folder, & then relaunch Safari. If the problem isn’t fixed, a different plug-in may be to blame. Keep removing files from this folder (start with any third-party plug-ins that are present) until the problem disappears.
Replace the plug-ins that don’t cause any problems.

    Rosetta
If you have an Intel-based Mac, running Safari in Rosetta can also resolve some QT plug-in issues.
First quit the app if it’s open & then, in your Applications folder, select Safari & press Command+I.
In the General area of the Safari Info dialog that appears (click the disclosure triangle if this area is not already expanded), select Open Using Rosetta, & then close the Safari Info dialog.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • Audio Causes Safari to Hang with beachball of death

I get the following error in the console:
Error loading /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/DVCPROHDAudio.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DVCPROHDAudio: dlopen(/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/DVCPROHDAudio.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DVCPROHD Audio, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/DVCPROHDAudio.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DVCPROHDAudio: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
This error hits every time I try and run safari and use any kind of sound. For example, if I go to a site where I can play a sound file Safari will lock up, beach ball of death and then I have to force quit. When I look in the console I get the above error. Noticed also that any applications that use sound (games, apps, etc.) will also produce this error and the audio playback sometimes will not work. Interestingly, I can use Firefox without any problems on sites that will lock up Safari when audio is involved.
Any advice? I searched the forums and google but didn't see much! Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Error with internet plug-in message and blocked plugin

On my MacBook Air Im receiving a error with internet plug-in message and blocked plugin which will not allow video clips to play i.e. YouTube. How do I correct this?

When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser, but check this also:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5655?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US  which also covers ‘blocked plug-in’.
