Safari gmail images

I'm running OS X 10.8.2 and Safari 6.0.1
There appears to be a problem with Safari 6.0.1 displaying inline images. I notice this while using gmail's "canned email" feature where the inline images in the canned email is not displayed properly.
Anyone else run into this?

I am having the similar issue and it only started on 24th too, and I am also Dublin based.
My issue is specifiaclly related to accessing google services.
-I can't acess my google analytics account for my website, the page just appears as blank after the login screen.
-I can't use google maps if I am logged into my google account.  It is fine if I am not logged in.
-I can't access my google+ account at all - I get the message that 'Safari can't establish a secure connection to plus.google.com'
-I can access my gmail but a lot of the buttons on the gmail page are blank or have a blue question mark, but do show the function when hover over and seem to work when pressed.
I have cleared cache and cookies and reset safari but no luck. I tried changing the MTU to 1300 and 1380 as suggested by various online forums but no change.
I have a PC running safari from same Wifi connection and everything is working perfectly on it.
Any suggestions anyone????

  • Safari 6 "Images" search results don't show digital storage size info anymore - Fix?

I've now noticed, finally using Safari 6 more often now .... that when doing a google subject search (and selecting the "images" results versus the "search" results at the top header bar of Safari), that Safari 6 now only shows a huge listing the images themselves. If you slide your cursor over any of the images, a small black highlight bar appears under the image and shows its pixel dimensions  (as in 000 x 000 pixel dimentional size), but Safari 6 shows no digital size info of the image in kb's (kilobites) or posibly MB's (megebites) .... like it used to in the past.
On previous Safari google "image" search results you saw the images, along with their pixel dimentional size (000 x 000) and their storage size ( 00kb / 00MB) listed in small text under the image.
Is there any way to set Safari to show not only the "images" dimensions (which it now does), but also to show the images over all storge size?
I know if you use the additional "search tools" selection text, that a sub set of selector menus appears, listing "any size", "any color", Any type" Any time" All results" .... but none of these will set "images" storage sizes (kb, MB, etc.).  Even using a "larger size" only selection setting doesn't always guarantee that a larger size only seach results will be of larger pixel quality.
I often use Safari and google to find "comp" art images, etc. for rough art placement on projects, and it's now almost impossible to search through Safari's google "images" results without knowing what "quality size" the image can be found at.
    Any thoughts on this fix?

Actually, as I forgot to mention .... is this above issue a Safari 6 or Google search result issue? I'm starting to think that it may be Google's "images" results that don't show the images storage size anymore, and possibly not Safari's problem.
Either way, is there any fix to this issue ... a plug-in, etc.?

  • Safari Blurs Images since Update - ?

    Hi all,
since the recent update safari displays images with slight blurring in most cases. They seem more pixilated & less crisp that they did pre update?
Anyone know whay this is? I also use firefox & that is fine but safari looks poor.
    Thanks, Mike

What  do you mean close all Safari windows? This happens even when I shut down and reboot my system. I checked in preferences to see if I have something flagged to open my favs or connected to mail but I can not find anything, every time I open Safari all Favs open in tabs and mail program gets launched with a number of empty composed message waiting to be sent but with no addresses. Also asking for certificates in some instances as well.
Like I said earlier this only started happening after I updated this week. Is there a way to go back or can I delete my safari and download a fresh copy?

  • Safari broken image link question mark in a blue box icon

The url I get the safari broken image link question mark in a blue box icon most often is "apple.com/startpage/". There may be 10 or 12 of them. However, most apple.com pages have at least 1. In fact I am looking at 1 right now. I have emptied the cache. I do not wish to reset Safari because I do not want to reenter all of the passwords to various sites. Is there a simple answer?

    Hi Rex,
Who is your ISP and what addresses do you have set in the DNS section of your System Preferences -> Network preferences?
Have you tried logging into a different user account on your machine to see if that has the same problem? This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed)
Also, do you use any third party internet software (Norton, Intego, etc.)?

  • Safari missing images in Gmail

    Hi guys,
Since yesterday I've got really weird problem - safari isn't displaying any images in Gmail, or open Google Drive site.
If I copy out the url, it simply looks like Safari can't connect to ssl.gstatic.com - it says "Safari can't open the page, because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server ssl.gstatic.com .
Now, this is not a problem in Chrome and Firefox.
I tried in two different locations (office and home). In fact, I asked a friend to check his safari, and he is having the very same issues (completly different machine).
    Safari version is 6.0.1, OS X 10.8.2.
    Resetting safari didn't help.
What I noticed is that ssl.gstatic.com is using SSL cert signed by Google Internet Authority (as opossite to Thawte SGC CA as ie. accounts.google.com that works). I wonder is that the issue?
I'm also amazed as I couldn't see simial issues reported on the web..

  • Why won't safari load images and connect to websites?

We've had this problem intermittently for several months. When visiting SOME websites (though never the same ones twice) instead of loading images, it comes up with a blue question mark in a box. if we try to reload the page, it will do one of two things: it will either reload exactly the same, or, it will reload in a format that shows vertical written links - no images. it almost looks like programming language, but it's readable.
also, when we go between links, we often get the message that "safari can't find the server". this is, again, erratic. If i try to go directly to the same website by typing in the address in the bar, i will get the connection. (so, if i go from youtube for example to try to connect to another website it won't work. but if i try to go directly to that website by just typing in the address myself, i can get it.) as i said, it doesn't always happen, but when it does it's a real pain!
lately, i've had a new problem too, which seems to relate: when using hulu.com, it will not load the show saying it is unavailable and to clear my cache. I've done that... and it still won't reload. yet, when i go to google, and search hulu.com, and go to the website that way, i can get to the show page no problem. Or, i have to quit safari and then go back to hulu and, again, no problem.
sometimes we can go for days without the problem, sometimes not.
any ideas on how to help this problem would be MOST appreciated! thanks

Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Appearance tab. Make sure Display images when the page opens is selected.
For server issues, try turning off the router for a few minutes, then restart it.
Hulu requires the Flash plugin. Uninstall your current copy of Flash, then reinstall >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Try emptying the Safari cache more often.
And reset Safari. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
And how much free space on the startup disk?     Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Try Safari in another user account. Same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility.  /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • How to get Safari printing images in proper resolution?

I have problems printing high resolution images from a web page.
Example: When printing a 300 dpi image that measures 5 x 6 inches Safari rescales this image to a resolution of about 282 dpi which results in a slightly larger image. The web page contains CSS definitions with the correct image size. It is suspicious that the printed images always seem to be rescaled by 6.348%. I tried different CSS definitions and page structures with the same result.
When the CSS definition for the image size is increased by 6.348% the resolution and image size fits the original values and dimensions.
    What about this magical 6.348%?
The problem is verified on 10.4.11 and 10.5 with Safari 3.0.1 on different machines with all kind of images in every resolution you can think of, with different printer drivers (but I do not think this is relevant) - all images are rescaled by this magic factor. I tried all kind of printer settings, took a look at the Library plists related to printing ... Please help me.
It is weird that Safari offers ICC support for color proof matches but is not able to print an image with its correct resolution/dimensions. Firefox for example does not touch the image resolution, why the heck Safari does?

    Hi Ned,
Website builders are using maximum 75 DPI images. These are to small i quality for other use when you are looking for quality images. The reason for using images in small size like 75 DPI is to prevent that the website is getting to big in size, an for using them on the internet they are good enough for best viewing.
QuickTimeKirk is right to get better images from a website. If the developer is NOT offering a downloadble better quality you have to do it with the on they offer.

  • New to Safari - GMail doesn't work?

I have always used Firefox on my Mac, but I decided to try Safari a little. I use Gmail religiously, but I noticed it only displays the "basic HTML" view in Safari. When I try to enable the "standard" view mode, it doesn't work.
I have tried searching the forums but haven't found any conclusive answers. Should I just stick with Firefox or Camino instead?

Is it possible that you have JavaScript turned off in Safari? That would do it, since Standard view for Gmail requires JavaScript.
If it's on, have you tried at different times of the day, since it could be an intermittent issue? Do youu get any error messages, or messages of any kind when it won't load Standard view? Post again with more details.

  • HT6074 safari preview images

how do I get safari to update the preview images automatically under top sites? (ver. 7.0.1)?

I have 24 sites pinned to the window that are mostly webcomics.
safari used to automatically update the images and put a star in the upper left corner, but that was a few versions back when I had 10.6.
now I can't figure out how to get that to happen on the current version, I still have the option to manually update, but I would like it to happen automatically every time I open safari

  • Safari and image ALT tags

I was testing out some html stuff last night involving images, I hover over a few images and to my absolute horror - realised that ALT tags weren't working.
Now I can't remember if they worked before I updated to 10.4.5 but I think they did as I distinctly remember seeing alt text as images were loading but I cannot be 100% sure.
The only changes I've made recently is 10.4.5 and installed flash player 8 plugin.
Someone please tell me that ALT tags do work in safari and that they are not working due to an update bug or setting or something???
    Please!!
    Thanks

    Hello,
The current version of the service does not include the functionality to update a page title and description. For the images, the ALT text can be updated by opening the Advanced menu on the right and filling in the Tooltip field.

  • Safari black images background while loading

    Hello.
I have problem in Safari. During web-page loading on places, there images placed i see black boxes. It looks like when image download in progress Safari displays black background of it. I noticed that it happens only with progressive JPEGs (this type of JPEG loads progressively from low-res image to full-res, so you firstly see low-res image, after a while a mid-res and when image 100% loads you will see full-res image). It happens all over internet sites, for example, right image on site below during loading have black background:
    http://bbshowcase.org/progressive/
In any of other browsers images loads normally.
I found some topics in the internet about this issue, but no solution.
    I currently use Safari v7.0.3 (9537.75.14) on Mac OS X 10.9.3 (Maverics).
I tested on another Mac with Safari 6 and found same issue.
If anyone can solve this, please, share the solution.

No problem with those images loading here.
You're running 7.0.3?  Is there some reason you have not updated to 7.0.4?
If not, click Software Update from your Apple  drop down menu or open the App Store. Select Updates from the menu top of that window.
Updating Safari may make a difference.
And try troubleshooting Safari extensions and plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Safari upgrade: images/icons not loading

(apologies, I posted this on another thread by mistake)
Everything went just fine until yesterday. I have no idea why Safari stopped loading images on websites.
Safari and all of its plugins are up to date.
Snow Leopard is up to date.
Things tried so far without any result:
    clear cache
    reset Safari preferences
check the DNS and manually add the ones for my area (non US)
I'm on a college campus network right now and I suspect they put some new firewall setting to block sites like facebook and myspace. The odd thing is: photobucket is also all messed up but I can see this page just fine, but if I go tot he main Apple page, I only get the blue question marks for the photos, and nothing at all on the top navigation bar. If I move the cursor over it, I can see in the status bar it gets the links... but I just can't see the bar at all. Blank space...
This is happening on some sites and not on others, so at first I thought at some java, flash bla bla bla update. but I checked and re-checked... everything is up to date.
Please, some help would be really appreciated

    Hi,
*"I have no idea why Safari stopped loading images on websites."*
Try this... go to Safari / Preferences - Appearance
Select the button next to: Display images when the page opens.
If that doesn't help... try Safari maintenance.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Mac OS: Web Browser Quits Unexpectedly or Stops Responding
Safari add-ons can cause performance issues or other situations
Also, if you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Quit Safari then relaunch.
If none of the above helps, download and install the 10.6.2 combo update which contains fixes that might help.

  • Safari missing images

A couple of weeks ago I started to have problems with Safari not loading images on websites i visit often (sonyalpharumors, wunderground).
It became quite frustrating so I would empty cache, clear history etc, & that seemed to work for 30 mins or so & then images started missing again.
Then it also started happening on my computer at work, also running 10.8.5 & Safari 6.
It happens several time a day & is strangely intermittant - EG: i can visit a site, several images are missing - refresh several times, still missing. Come back 5 mins later & refresh, the images load.
I started using chrome & the same images always load without a problem.
    For an example: http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/western-pacific/2013/Typhoon-Fitow
The large map & all the small icon maps are missing in safari 75% of the time.
Its happening on 2 seperate computers, which is really weird. What can I do?

  • Safari resizing images, again...

Some years back, around 2007, I started a thread about Safari automatically resizing images that are larger than the window. That "feature" magically appeared with one Safari update, and quickly disappeared with another update. Well, it's now July 2011 and a new Safari update Version 5.1 (6534.50) has brought this annoying feature back.
I'm sure there is no way to disable it. I have looked through the preferences, developer and debug options. Why can't Apple make up their minds or at least give us the option to turn this thing on or off!!!!
Check to see if Safari is resizing with this image: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/9117/g9img0272sj.jpg
If it fits within the window and your cursor shows a zoom icon with a plus Safari is resizing. Those of you with high resolution screens may not experience resizing as most images will fit within your window.
You can also tell if Safari is resizing images by grabbing the bottom right window resize handle and resizing Safari. You'll notice the image will change size to fit within the window. See this pic for an example: http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/3074/screenshot20110722.jpg
    Mark
This is under 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, not 10.7 Lion, although I would expect the same behavior with both.

Firefox will auto resize images, but not text files.
Safari will auto resize text files, but not images.
I'd love to turn auto resize for images on and off in Safari.
Does anyone know how to do this, with a style sheet perhaps?

  • Safari no images

Safari does not render pages properly. I get text only, no images. This has been happening since Mountain Lion and safari 6. I've seen no other reports of it, so I'm hoping someone savvy can help me out: is it my mac or is it the OS? The image below is whay I get, I should also mention that this only happens with cnet.com and a random site here and there but I don't know how to fix t. Help....

Restart, holding down the CMD+R keys, select Disk Utility, select the disk hosting ML, and repair it and its permissions. When finished, restart, and see if that fixes the problem.
I would reinstall ML if the above does not fix it.
