Safari-Google auto fill

Hi everyone.
While I am in Safari>Google I start typing in the search window and a bunch of previously type words show up under the search window. Is there anyway to clear the list that pops up?
I went to settings>safari and cleared cookies, cache, and history to no avail.
Is this a google pref thing?

been searching for naughty things have you?...
i do it like so;
go on to safari
then press the little book at the bottom of the screen
then go into history
then press clear in the bottom left hand corner.
works for me

  • Safari 3 auto-fill different behavior?

It seems that in earlier versions when I went to a password login page that was stored in auto-fill, the number would automatically fill in when loading the page. Now it seems that I need to at least enter the first character into the login field and then a little drop-down appears allowing me to choose it, even if there is only one choice. Then the password automatically gets filled in. This is annoying to me as I don't always remember the login I've used. Can someone confirm that this change has happened or am I doing something wrong?

For whatever reason it appears the password field you are interested in is being treated as a choice field instead of a password field. Although the behavior for password fields has not changed (I think) the behavior for choice fields HAS changed.
It used to be that your last choice used was pre-filled into the choice field when you went to the page, and before you typed ANYTHING into that field. Also if you started typing, choices that matched what you had typed so far used to show up in most recently used order with the field autofilled to the one most recently used that matched what you have typed so far.
The behavior now, apparently, is that the choice field is NOT pre-filled (if you have typed more than one choice into that field before, and if you start typing the list shows items matching what you have typed so far in sorted order instead of most recently used order -- which makes it less likely that the one on the top of the list is the one you want.
You can edit the Autofill records in Safari for any given web page to make it forget about previous choices, and then the next time you type in the value for a field on that page it will be recorded as your only choice (so far). But that's kind of crufty.

  • Safari password auto fill security concern

Just discovered what I consider to be a big security concern with iCloud Keychain. If you go into Settings, then Safari and your iCloud Keychain is under stored passwords and auto fill, the passwords are stored in plain text with no asterisk or anything. This means that all someone needs is your 4digit unlock code and they are then able to view all your stored passwords in Safari. They should at least require your iCloud Keychain password to view these, or just asterisk them out. If someone saw you enter your four digit unlock code, and then put your phone down, they could get this information without you even knowing it. This is not safe.

The purpose of that section is so that you can see your passwords, there wouldn't be much point in replacing them with asterisks. They are password protected, just don't give others your password.

  • 2013 Safari not auto filling password

Safari suddenly stopped auto filling userids and passwords.  I rechecked all of my "Auto Fill" preferences and they are fine.  It also is now saying that the password is changed and do I want to save the new one.  If I say Not Now I get signed in so perhaps the password keychain is corrupted; but, if I do say to save it, then the next time I sign in it still doesn't work.  Seems like Apple released a revision without testing everything.  Isn't that Microsoft's trick?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • IOS8 / Safari not auto filling alternate account info and password

    Hello,
since upgrading to iOS8 on my iPad4, Safari no longer auto fills alternate account / password info on same website.  'Settings' shows that I have multiple login/pass infos available for the same site.
PReviously, I could initiate the first couple letters of the account name, and the option to have Safari auto populate the rest of the info would be available.

I should also mention I am not in private mode.

  • Deleting the google auto fill in.

Alright, so when you have already searched for something on google.com and you type something new into the search bar ( not the one in the toolbar) how can i get it so it shows none of my past searches...?

    Hi,
Safari preferences > AutoFill > Other forms... (Edit)
Select the .google.com entry and remove it. Google should hopefully now have a case of amnesia next time you try to enter a search term

  • Safari auto-fill problem

Hi all.. Since the second last firmware update of my Touch 2nd gen, Safari normally auto-fills website's login forms (thus settings should be okay) except for.. wlan login forms! Therefore, every time I have to manually write down username and password in order to gain network access.. I don't know whether it is a known issue or even a strange "wanted" feature..in any case, there's a way to overcome this annoying problem? Thank you in advance.

I have asked a similar question several times before, and I have the answers varied from the typical I do not have that problem to its a security feature incorporated in Safari.
I tend to think it is a new feature added ito safari n the last several months (via an update).
The bottom line is I am NO longer able to stay logged into various websites if I quit safari, even though the websites have the feature available that should allow a user to stay logged in for 2 weeks.
The only way I can now stay logged in for an extended period of time is to NEVER quit Safari.
That is not an option for me.

  • Safari Auto Fill Issue - Same domain with multiple logins

    Hello Group,
I am working with Safari's Auto Fill feature for user names and passwords on website pages that I log into and it is not doing what I would like it to do. For some reason I am unable to save more than one login per domain and is not seeing the entire url path. If save my user name and password for say this url path of ************* it will save the user name and password but when you look in safari->preferences->autofill, its only showing the top level of the domain and not the entire path.
And if there is a different page on the site located at a completely different url path such as *********** that I need to log into and I try to save a user name and password for this different url path, it asks me if i want to update the current user name and password, and I don't want to do that, I want to save a new different user name and password for this second login screen.
Is there anyway to get this to see the entire url and remember separate logins for each different page on the same domain? Thanks.

    <Edited by Host, URL's removed>

To the moderator. Thank you for approving my post, but how am I suppose to show what I am talking about if you go and remove the url examples I put in my post? The links were not bad, spam or etc, they were just examples paths I made up.

Could anyone suggest me how to have the AUTO FILL form work in my Sign-in accounts (in Safari) ?
Could not find anything specifically on this forum, yet.
    Thanks for your help.

HI, I seem to be experiencing a simple problem with my safari that has been going on for a while now, and it is starting to get on my nerves. As of late, safari wont auto fill usernames emails. This has never been a problem before, and I haven't altered any preference settings, please help.

  • What is timetable for restoring access to Auto-Fill/Google Toolbar?

Auto-Fill quit working some time back, and apparently there's no timetable to restore it -- or is there? Thanks.

Thanks. I figured it was a Google problem. I tried Firefox 5 and it bollixed up too much other stuff so I went back to 4.1, which works, which does what I need, and I'm happy. Apparently Google Auto-Fill has deserted us forever. Drat.

  • I want to add "auto-fill" - which is a secure one? If they are in the FF web site, are they checked out for security?

I used to have Google auto-fill, but that is gone since updating FF. If a add-on (like auto-fill item) is on the add-on site, is it safe? Has it been checked out for security?

Which ''spyware software'' software did you run?
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Windows Accessibility settings.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Websites_look_wrong
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • How to Transfer Safari Auto-Fill Passwords to Chrome

It won't let me do it in Preferences/Personal Stuff/Browsing Data
The box "saved passwords" is grayed out and it won't let me select it!
Thanks in advance for any help!

Are you referring to: Manage Saved Passwords ??
Your passwords are stored in Keychain Access   /Applications/Utilities
Select Options (Preferences on Mac and Linux; Settings on Chrome OS).
    Click the Personal Stuff tab.
Adjust your password settings in the "Passwords" section:
Select "Offer to save passwords" if you want Google Chrome to prompt you to save your password every time you sign in to a new website.
Otherwise, select "Never save passwords" if you don't want Google Chrome to ever save your passwords.

  • Safari 3 Gmail auto-fill no longer working, latest Gmail software

Gmail now indicates that auto-fill (of email addresses) is not supported on Safari. They say it will work with Firefox. Auto fill worked fine until the last Gmail client update, plus Safari 3.
I feel it's in Apple's best interest to work this out with Google, quickly. Anybody else aware of this? I see multiple postings on Google's Gmail support site.

I noticed this yesterday but I swear it was working this last week and I have had Leopard and newest Safari on the machine since Oct. 30. I noticed Safari wasn't pre-filling like it used to and assumed it had to do with 1password which I have loaded up recently.
I hope Google and Apple get this worked out - I was just celebrating the fact that Safari is now able to let us use Google the way it should be used.

  • Two major bugs in Lion - Zoom and Safari auto fill search bar

    hey there
every since I updated to Lion I've been experiencing two major bugs... zoom randomly stops working (the one where you press control and zoom in and out) even though it's set to work on the settings. Safari is also experincing a problem concerning the search bar. mine is set to google and whilst on full screen mode, it randomly stops auto filling as opposed to what happens in non full screen mode. I actually need to get off full scren mode and go back to it to make it work again. as to the zoom thing, I need to restart my computer everytime is stops working. any ideas ?  thanx !!

You don't need to restart. Quit Safari or logout and back in.
