Safari google search engine suggestions aren't working.

I have gone through the Safari app, everything that needs to be turned on is on.  Including 'search engine suggestions', 'preload top hit', and 'spotlight suggestions'.  I have tried many things to fix the problem.  Restart phone.  Turn off all suggestions, restart phone.  Turn everything back on, restart phone. I have even done a complete reset.  NOTHING is working.
I have another iphone 6 and it is working on that phone.  Additionally, if I start searching something on the other phone that works, I see different things pop up, like map suggestions, all search engine suggestions, and prior websites with the words I'm typing.  None of this shows up on my iphone.

Exact same problem on my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.  Hasn't worked since I activated the phone last week.  Played with all previously mentioned settings.  Changing search engine doesn't help either.  Reset network settings...no good.
Interestingly, it doesn't work on my iPhone 5 with iOS 8.0 either.  However, it does work on my iPad Mini on iOS 8.0 - same WiFi network.
Not much of a pattern here.  Probably just need to wait for an update release.

    Hi,
Whenever I try to search on goole through the Safari google search engine bar it redirects me to "www.google.cn" and everything is in a different language. I tried going to the google settings and changing the language, but when i do it doesn't seem to change. It just stays the same

Did you buy your iPhone in China?
There are a few other threads on the forum saying the same thing, see this one -> How to change google search region?
It ilooks like a regional thing that Apple most likely had no choice about, if they wanted to sell the iPhone in China.

stop safari from filling in search bar as I type evan with search engine suggestions disabled?

[[Location bar search]] has lots of information on this. If the steps here don't work for you or aren't clear enough, please visit that article.
    1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press EnterReturn.
    * The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
    2. Search for the preference keyword.enabled.
    3. Double-click the keyword.enabled preference to toggle it between true and false.
    * false disables Internet Keyword searches.
    * true enables Internet Keyword searches.

  • Google search engine no longer works after upgrading to Firefox 11

I just upgraded to Firefox 11 earlier this evening. Now I'm trying to do a search with Google. I got the search results and clicked on what I wanted only to get taken to the Google home page with a new Google search engine entry box. There was a google sign-in thing but I shouldn't have to sign in just to do a search. I switched to yahoo search and got the info I wanted then switched back to google to try to figure out what on earth is going on. Now when I click on the item in the results that I want the tab at the top sort of blinks for an instant that says connecting then stops and stays on the results page. If I right-click on the item and select open in a new tab (or new page), I can go to that page, but I shouldn't have to always right click to go to a new tab or new page. It was never that way before I got to Firefox 11. Can this be fixed or do I have to just abandon google?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Also, I think the Ask toolbar (add-on) has been reported to create problems with the links in Google search results. You could try disabling it here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
A search also turned up an issue with the HTTPS Everywhere add-on: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/867796 Google links redirect to Google homepage, not the link itself! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].

LOVE FIREFOX. HAVE TWO SHIRTS, AND AN AVID MEMBER SENSE 2000. Why do i have to get "google" in google search engine every time to type in the address? It wasn't always this way. :-(

Can you clarify where you need to make this change?
Which searches aren't working for you?
*searching via the location bar (pref: keyword.URL)
*search bar on the Navigation Toolbar
*search bar on the about:home page (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename)

  • Why does firefox 4 freeze on the 1st result page of google search engine

I updated to Firefox 4 yesterday and now every time I use the google search engine my screen freezes on the first results page and will not allow me to click on any of the links on it, saying that it is not responding before eventually the screen goes white.
I tried to find a solution on the Firefox Support page but the only solution relates to McAfee Site Advisor. As I do not have this installed and never have I was wondering if it would be possible for you to tell me how do I fix it?
    Thank you.

Hi, i had the same problem, and I also use Bullguard, I contacted them, just received answer, (in about 20 min). It is incompatibility of FF4 and bullguard (they know about it, and fix will be released soon), and probably most of the other antiviruses, as I see this is very popular problem. The solution though is very simple : in firefox disable addon "Bullguard Safe Browsing". It works. Or alternatively open bullguard go : antivirus - settings - safe browsing (unchek that). For those not using bullguard i would recommend to check their addons in FF and if there is any from your antivirus try to disable it for now.

I'm using an iMac with Firefox as my browser. On the top right beside the URL box I have my google search engine (I can also use the drop down to search with Yahoo, Amazon, Answers.com etc.... When I search for something I get results but for some reason now I get Islamic text in my results. For instance if I search iphone here's what I get as my first result:
iPhone 4 is a GSM cell phone with a high-resolution display, FaceTime video calling, HD video recording, a 5-megapixel camera, and more.

and here is what I get on the side bar (Top to Bottom):

Does anybody know why this is? I have done nothing to change Firefox, it just started happening.

  • IPad 2 safari google search error

until recently when i try to search using safari google search bar, instead of the search result, i am shown with this error message
    We're sorry...
... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
See Google Help for more information.
i have to clear cookie in the safari settings to get it work, but only for one search, after that the same error repeats.
    help please! thanks a lot.

It would be nice, rbi, if you actually tried the app prior to commenting.  This problem just showed up, just today. It has nothing to do with flash, it is the image search for google for crying out loud. It is some sort of change with google and it *****. Perhaps it is their way of forcing iPad users to use their crappy app. Great. Thanks. Another good experience ruined by the lame politics between corporations. I am sure that some idiot mid level executive is very proud of themselves right now.

This problems has been occurring on two different machines over the last two days.

  • I want the google search engine when a new tab is selected but I'm getting the yahoo search engine instead

I click on the add tab button and the yahoo search engine comes up as the home page. This should be the google search engine, as it is when I first open Firefox.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).<br />
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

  • Search Engine add ons not working

I suddenly have a few search engines that just wont work in the search, the netflix one just simply brings me to the netflix home page and doesnt actually search and the facebook one will only search for the first word typed

    Hi Masson26,
I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
You could also try deleting the Search Engines and reinstalling them. This article will show you where you can find the files to delete them completely:

    Hopefully this helps!
