Safari hanging up "Page not Found" on MANY websites since 7.1.3 update installed earlier today

It's slowly gotten better on some sites the past couple of hours, but still won't open things like Yahoo or Amazon. I also can't log in to Blizzard's Battle Net (not Safari related). Everything was working just fine until I okay'd the security and safari updates from the App store this morning. I'm running 10.9.5 system on a 2008 Mac Pro and nothing else has changed.

A Safe Mode boot deletes some system caches that may help after an OS X update.
Top left corner of your screen click the  Apple   > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.
Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple  menu. From the drop down menu click:  Restart
Then try Safari.

  • Safari & TypePad = 404 Page Not Found Error

I need someone to check this out - not sure if it is my system or Safari itself but every time I try to leave a comment that relies on TypePad I get a 404 page error.
Using the latest release of Safari with all extensions turned off, try this:
    http://www.towleroad.com/2014/12/owl.html
I don't have this problem using latest Firefox, Sea Monkey or Chrome.

So I went elsewhere (MacNN forums) and the answer was revealed.  As noted before, these Apple forums are pretty useless.  Here's what you need to do to correct the problem:
You can manually disengage anything plugged in to Safari and that's where your problem is.
Mouse up to the "Go" top menu selection, and hold down the Option/Alt key. Magically, the Library folder will appear, which you'll need to click on, and go in to. The file path should be something along the lines of /Users/YOURNAME/Library.
Inside this are folders that you'll need to adjust. Go to Application Support is one of them look for Trovi or Conduit. These files will hijack your browser, block features or cause other havoc.
Once you've located files associated with the program, Command/Delete them.
No go back in the Library and look for the Internet Plug-ins plist. Delete it.
Close these folders up and restart your machine. Safari should now work as it was programmed to work.
    (and it did for me).

  • Wwv_flow.accept, error 404 page not found

I am trying to install the OEHR Sample Objects for the Hosted Demo environment at apex.oracle.com site so I can do the Oracle Application Express 2 Day + Tutorial. I downloaded the zip file and got the .sql file extracted ok. The import works ok for the application, but hangs when trying to load the Supporting Objects. It eventually gives me that nasty old error 404 page not found when on MS windows 2000 and IEexplorer 6 ( and a similar result in xp using IEexplorer 7).
I cannot do much in the tutorial without the samples.
Any ideas, anyone else gotten stuck here? Thanks

    Dimitri,
    Many thanks for the reply.
The problem appears to be intermittent and can happen on, quite literally, any link or button. Anything which causes either a page submit or link through to another page is a likely candidate. And this isn't just whilst running the app - it's within the app design part, too. It seems to be an issue (possibly) with page delivery.
My gut feeling is that it seems to happen more after the DB has been up for a while. However, this may just be a matter of perception as I've also had it happen within minutes of a DB restart.
I'll have a play around with apex.oracle.com, but my suspicion is that the Oracle site works fine (this would be a far more visible error if it happened on apex.oracle.com, too).
One thought is that it might be an EPG config issue - it'd be interesting to check the config of an Oracle-supplied Apex area, if that were possible. Another thought is that it could be the network, though (typically) everything else on the network appears to be running fine...
    Many thanks,
    David

  • Login 404 Page not found error

I am having problems with my login mechanism.
I have form based authentication configured in my Web.xml. I have implemented the login mechanism from the SRDemo Example therefore I have a index.jsp which does a redirect to my first jspx page and a login.jsp which contains a form with username and password input types and a button which submits the form to the action="j_security_check".
When a user accesses the application, the index.jsp is called which does a redirect to the first page in my application "Customers.jspx". When the authentication fails, then the login page is displayed, and I think the redirect URL (Customers.jspx) is placed into the session by the framework for later use i.e. until the user authenticates. Once authenticated, the user is directed to the Customers.jspx.
The login pages works fine except for the following condition. When I sit at the login page until the session timeout occurs, then when I try to log-in, I get a 404 error "Page not found". I am guessing that the forward URL to my customers page is lost when the session times-out.
A lot of guessing but is any of this true. Can anyone shed some light on this one and suggest where I am going wrong or if there is a fix to the problem.
    Many thanks,
    Michael.

    Hi,
correct. The server keeps track of the redirect page and if the session is lost, this information is lost too

  • Sign on screen up, but trying to sign on returns page not found

    Hullo,
had this issue on a LIVE instance running 11.5.10.2 (11.2.03 on RHEL 5.5) last week
Users could not connect (or work) to or in i Expenses. The sign on screen was up, but trying to sign on returned a page not found error.
I checked Apache processes and there were around 20 of them.
    Apache was running.
I decided to bounce Apache and this resolved the error.
I suspect that it wasn't Apache that was the problem (since there were many Apache processes running). What was the real issue? A module?
Any helpful tips will much much appreciated.
    Happy Christmas.
PS: Is simply grepping for Apache enough to confirm that it is running (as well as checking adapcctl.sh status)? Why are there over 25 Apache processes running - even when I check on an instance that no one is using??
    Thank you again.

  • "Apple page not found" error after installing iOS 6 and trying to connect to wifi on iPad 2, how do I fix this?

SO I just installed the new iOS6, and the wifi is working (posting on my iPad 2 right now). However it won't let me use safari, and every time I select my wifi network, it shows the full strength signal. But before I can do anything it loads a page in an attempt to connect to apple.com, that says "apple page not found." I can then navigate the apple website, but there is no address bar. I try using safari and it says I am not connected to a wireless network. I know this is a problem with iOS 6, so has anyone heard how to fix this? Or is anyone having this problem as well?

Reading some older threads from 2012 and 2011 it appears the problem was present even then.  Part of the problem was due to people using multiple or different account id's on the various devices.  In my case, I only have one ID and it is the same on all devices yet the iPhone and iPad are still throwing the same error when I try turning on iTunes Match.  This is very frustrating . . . any help out there?  Thanks.

  • Edit Page;Report;Enable CSV Output;Apply Changes;Page Not Found;wwv_flow

    Hi,
We have a really annoying error in our application, whereby we are unable to save ANY changes to report attributes if Enable CSV Output is Yes.
I have many pages with Enable CSV Output set to Yes, and when run, the pages can indeed be exported to Excel, fine so far.
    However, if we do Edit Page, choose Report change Enable CSV Output to No, then apply changes the option is removed ok - BUT if we then set it back to Yes, when we apply changes again we get a Page Not Found error at this address ;
    http://sglas-sand.fm.rbsgrp.net:7780/pls/fdm_uat2/wwv_flow.accept
We obviously dont need to keep changing this value, but the above demonstrates that our reports do currently support CSV output, but for some recent reason, trying to save a page where this option has been changed to Yes causes this crash.
We also seem unable to change and save any other attribute when CSV Output is set to Yes. This leaves us in a tricky situation - unable to change our pages unless we are prepared to remove the Export option!
We were wondering if the support of this this option requires any special processing / objects / etc to be availble / running. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Page not found error after logging into oiddas

    Hi all,
I have configured reverse proxy setup for my application server. from external portal is accessible( with proxy hostname externally and internally after login from internet) and also sso server administration site (same as portal ) but when i am trying to access oiddas page i am not able to login and i am getting page not found error. for ssocfg.sh i have given proxyHostName and proxyPort with https and i can see external name and it is redirected with external name for sso authentication but when i logged in i am getting page not found with http 404 msg and i have followed many docs in metalink w.r.t this error but couldn't resolve after too many trials and registrations. could someone help me on this. let me know if you need any information my internal address is http://localhost.localdomain.com:7777/ external(proxy)- https://portal.localdomain.com/
    Thanks

    Hello George,
Thank you for the quick reply. I will surely try the option suggested by you.
But what i was thinking is that as this is not a Connection Time Out (500) error, instead its a Page Not Found error, it would be Session-Timeout and not Connection Time-Out.
Maybe I should be looking at:
    SESSION-TIMEOUT due to kernel:
        Kernel parameter:    rdisp/gui_auto_logout
        Kernel parameter:    rdisp/plugin_auto_logout
as per the SAP OSS Note: 705013
But again, I think this Note is pointing to the SICF service and IAC type of iView and not SAP Transaction type iView. Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

  • Numerous "page not found" errors

I've been using a WRT160N router for several weeks which I bought as a replacement for a failed Belkin router. Home network config is my Vista PC connected via Ethernet cable to the router and my wife's Vista PC with wireless access to the router. The router is connected to a Cox ISP Motorola SB5120 Surfboard cable modem. Both computers (wired and wireless) experience frequent "page not found" errors. In many cases, an immediate attempt to access the same page is successful.
I'm quite sure that the network connection and the Internet connection are not being dropped. At the same time that the "page not found" errors are occurring, I am able to check my email (via Windows Mail) with no problem. Also, both computers are running Network Magic, and it is quite good at popping up messages when a connection is lost. These messages never pop up when the "page not found" errors are occurring.
I've done a fair amount of Googling about this problem and saw some references to Domain Name System failures. Is it possible that when I'm requesting a web page, my DNS server is not returning the page's IP address? If so, is there a way to correct this problem?
One additional piece of info that might be relevant: If my wife shuts down her computer in the evening before I shut mine down, then I immediately start getting many more "page not found" errors - sometimes on almost every attempt to access a page. I have been able to get around this problem by power cycling the router, leaving the power off for 20-30 seconds. After that, access to web pages is much better.
The last time I checked, I had the latest firmware installed in the router. This problem never occurred with the old Belkin router for almost two years before it began failing.
Any advice would be much appreciated. This problem is quite a nuisance.
    --Jim--

Paul, thanks much for the link to the other thread. I just finished reading all 11 pages. Unbelievable that there hasn't been a single encouraging post by a Linksys person! I'm probably going to keep the router, since I've had it for almost a month and have discarded the box and packaging by now. Looks like I have a choice of (1) putting up with the DNS problems that are truly a nuisance, (2) downgrading to firmware version 8 if I can get it, or (3) hoping for a future firmware upgrade from Linksys that will fix the problem.
There seem to be a couple of people on the thread who are willing to provide firmware version 8 and save me the trouble of extracting the firmware file from the tar file. They say something like, "PM me your email address and I'll send you the firmware." I'm enough of a newbie on this board and a complete newbie on the other board that I'm not sure what PM means. Do you? Are both boards sponsored by Linksys? This one is part of forums.linksys.com while the other one is part of forums.linksysbycisco.com. There's so much to learn ...

  • OC4J AJP13 Firewalled Connection, Page Not Found and Action Cancelled

I have a J2EE application that works fine within the company intranet, however the live internet available version is plagued by Action Cancelled and Page Not Found Errors. We also get some queries that hang.
Having recently switched from Apache2/Tomcat to OHS/OC4J (10gR2), through a halfway house of Apache2/OC4J, I can also state that the problem occurs on these platforms as well. The operational application only uses SSL connections.
According to our Firewall team idal connection timeouts are in the order of six hours, and we have tried opening all ports between the Web Server and Application Server, just in case we were blocking something, all to no avail.
We also sometimes get the ie popup for changing between secure and unsecure objects, or displaying secure and unsecure objects, despite having those popups disabled in the browser. The only HTTP call shown within the HTTP trace is a random call from the browser to CONNECT to the application secure base URL which points to a splash page. I have no idea where this is coming from.
The application concerned is Business Objects.
    Any thoughts.
Interestingly, when I activate Fiddler, the Microsoft IE HTTP(S) monitor the problem goes away, except for the page hangs which occur when a jsp script requests data.
I can modify any parameters relating to mod_oc4j, OHS, and the application container.

  • Cisco WLC WebAuth Page Not Found

    Hi All,
I'm using Cisco VWLC 7.4.100.60, I'm facing a problem of the internal web auth with Local Net User , any client access the guest SSID, which can re-direct to the virtual port ip http://1.1.1.1/login.html, but browser also show page not found.
May I know how can I fix it?
    Many Thanks!
    hang

Can be many things... first off, make sure DNS is working and that the guest homepage is not a secure web site (https).  Also make sure you didn't add and DNS hostname in the VIP interface unless you installed a cert and the FQDN is resolving.  Here is a good guide:

  • Page Not Found in "wwv_flow" transitions after 3.1 upgrade

After upgrading to 3.1, apparently successfully (all our applications seem to run fine), we now can not use the development environment.
Any time you make a change which routes to the /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept address we get a "Page not found" (404) error in IE.
This is occurring on our main production environment and did not occur with our prior test upgrades on other servers.
Although I found many "Page not found" errors searching the forum, I didn't find anything similar to the error we are encountering.
Thanks in advance for any feeedback or suggestions,

corrected title to wwv_flow from www_flow

    Scott,
Okay, to start off with, let me apologize. I just realized I was going through the same sequence (at least once per a session, since sessions can survive Apache restarts).
From the looks of it, something on the specific page at the top of my first applications page list brings down the entire development environment.
Since it may indicate another issue (e.g. bug), I'll continue to go forward towards the specific cause:
So, the sequence that specifically causes the failure:
    1) Login
    2) Click on top Application (100)
    3) Click on top Page (24) (due to view mode)
    4) Click Edit Report Region (click on first region label on page) [Other steps may also cause, but this fails every time instantly]
    5) Everything is now broken...
Exporting and importing the page does not change this behavior. However, knowing this I can easily work around the issue. Though I can continue to pursue this investigation to isolate the cause as needed.
[Edit: I've isolated the cause.  The issue is with the Report Source for this top page.  It was the last page editted before the upgrade.  The report is a 5,594 character query.  It worked in the 3.0 version, but if I start a new report page from scratch and try to use this query, I get the error:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    <Return to Application>
And, once again, the development environment is trashed until you start your next session.  Although 5,594 characters is large, I've had much larger in my career.  I'm not certain if this is truly a size issue or relates to the number of bind variables, or some other aspect of the query.  I'll investigate further tomorrow.]
