Safari hangs but I can't fix it (G4 PPC, 10.5.6 Safari 3.2.1)
Hi everyone,
I just installed the security update 2009-01 and the Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 3 to my PPC G4 Powerbook with 10.5.6.
When I opened safari (3.2.1), it hangs with the beach ball. I have tried re-installing safari, I have tried disconnecting the internet, I have tried pressing escape as it starts up to see if I can reset it.. and nothing has worked.
I have not reinstalled 10.5.6 combined update.
I would love to know how to fix this.. This is a relatively new install of 10.5 so I have done very little browsing using Safari.

I have knowledge of virtualization, I have been using VMWare, Parallels and VirtualBox already for windows' browsers but I was asking if there is a way of running safari 6 without a whole operating system as it's quiet heavy for testing a simple browser that should be able to run as is on my environment !
Windows has a tool called IETester for testing all versions of IE and I was looking for more of a solution like this !?
By the way, I like VirtualBox better as open source and it does the same as Parallels for free ... -

Halfway through the OS X Yosemite update it says I am not connected to the internet (when I know I am because I can search through the app store). How can I fix this? I cannot get on Safari because it requires an update to Mac OS X 10.9 or later.
Just to be clear. You have downloaded the Yosemite installer. However you say while it's updating you get the error you are not online. This is confusing since you shouldn't be able to use your computer in the process of updating.
Exactly where do you see you need to 10.9 to get on Safari? -

it whas ringin in the morning but aftre lunc some one tring to call me but ther is only vibret so i check volume but it is ok and i din't no whats rong so is ther solustion or what can i doBasic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

A pop up window opens when I try to open safari, however, I can't exit out of it, nor can I continue using safari. How can I fix this? (the iMac was purchased summer 2011 and all updates done). Thanks.
I had the same issue and I found turning off safai extensions fixed the issue. Must be an extension that's causing this problem.

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.
Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well. -
Airport is flashing amber, but I can't fix it

My Airport Express, which I use in a WDS as a music relay, is flashing amber (which means that it can't connect) and whenever I try to access it using Airport Setup Assistant or Airport Admin Utility, it says that it can't connect or just hangs. Airport Setup Assistant gave me this message:

There is absolutely no way that I know of to access it from my computer, and unplugging it and replugging it back in doesn't work. What is wrong???When I went back to try to directly connect to the AX, I noticed that the light was solid amber, not flashing anymore. Supposedly that means that it's starting up, but it's been that way for a while... I have a location specifically for the ethernet connection to ABSs, but Airport Admin Utility couldn't detect any AXs. So is something wrong, or am I not able to connect directly to the AX?

I got the run around from staff members with none explaining to me why as well as multiple emails avoiding the question and giving me the same stupid answer as below, are you going to tell merge same thing next week when my iPhone/ iPad goes faulty, your apologies mean nothing o me if you can't solve my problem
The iPod was booked in with the fault report, "unit does not connect to iTunes"
Putting the unit docking station, it charges but it does not charge when connected to a computer
The iPod is vintage so the are no parts or replacements for it
Please accept our sincerest apologies upon this matterthanks 0Ari0, your suggestion of labeling all the files as part of a compilation worked. After I did this i changed the media kind to audiobook, and voila, one single book appeared in the Audiobooks submenu. The individual files aren't listed under their proper artist in the iTunes music folder, but I don't really care about that. I'm ok with having the book listed in Compilations as long as it's all in one piece.

Safari launches, but I can't get a new page to show
We have five accounts on an iMac for our family. I can't get Safari to display a new page (or any page) on one of my kid's account. What could be the problem?

There may be a problem with one of that account's Safari files.
Open his User Account and then the Finder:
First, move the com.apple.safari.plist file found via the Finder>User Library>Preferences folder to the desktop and restart Safari. If Safari is stable, you'll need to reset their custom preferences in Safari, as well as any special settings in the Edit (spelling) or View menu (custom icons, status bar, etc.) If no change, move the file back to its original location, replacing the newly created file, then try the next suggestion.
If the above doesn't work, go to the User Library>Caches>Safari and move that file to the desktop. Same routine as the previous step (restart Safari, etc). If no go, move the folder back etc.
