Safari hangs when posting forms on php database driven sites

Hello,
I build php MySQL database driven sites all day long, and over the last year i have noticed that when using safari and "Only Safari"... If i post a form which submits data to the database the page hangs for about a minute and then ends up on a blank page. (the data was successfully submitted to database though)
This does not happen for any other browser, only safari. It happnes on at least 10 sites i have built. i thought it was an quirky issue with my computer, but now it is happening to a client.
also this, doesnt happen to any ASP sites I build, only safari and php/mysql
My safari is 2.0.4

Hi,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, then turn off, restart Safari. Try a site that uses web based forms.
If it's not Extensions causing this, from the menu bar again, click Safari / Preferences - Autofill.
Click the Edit button next to *Other forms*
Click: Remove All then click Done.
Restart Safari. Try again. If that didn't help, back to the menu bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset. Restart Safari. Try again...

  • SEO with PHP/Database driven sites

I know this is the wrong place for this question but I wanted the opinion of this forum.
My company is in the planning stages of building a new site. It's currently PHP/Database driven but for the amount of products we have in our lineup, it's not really necessary. I'm heading up the SEO for the new site and have been looking into it the past few weeks.
From what I've read here and there, PHP isn't too search engine friendly. There aren't any recent articles online that I can find on the subject so I would like to know your opinion. The new site can be created just as well with HTML/CSS and we plan to go crazy with SEO. From what you guys know about SEO, would you recommend staying with PHP or moving over to HTML?
    Thanks in advance...

No, there is no difference. The only thing to ensure is that your 'meta' description is also individualised for each item/page and that any images contain a title attribute  individual to the image and not the generic "product image" title, (or similar) that many include.
This is what I've learned. I'm excited to begin the whole process. We have many websites that need to be re-done so we're trying to work out good plan before doing so. Designing for mobile came up after the first site was completed and I didn't have too much time to get into that, as you saw a few weeks back. Right now the page is only really built for Blackberry and once I was going to get into learning the media queries for the next two, I was put onto SEO.
We're a bbq company with a tonne of brands and things haven't been touched in years. Not a single person here knows anything about any of the websites. When I was hired a few months ago I was just thrown into the mix. As I'm sure you can imagine, things can get frustrating.
    EDIT--
This is BOSS DJ. I made another account for work and for some reason they've switched them up. I signed in with Krumf and they gave me BOSS even though it said Welcome, Krumf up top. This window has been open ever since I signed in
    Strange...

  • Safari hangs when sending forms?

Safari seems to hang when I try to fill in web based forms and send them, its ok on the first attempt
but then seems to hang on part of the form sending process and freezes up the web site I'm visiting. I can navigate to other sites but not the same one again in that session. I have to restart Safari if i want to go to that site again.

  • Safar Hangs When Quitting

    Hi,
Just recently, Safari hangs when I quit it. It then needs to be Force Quit. I use Safaricon for the GUI and I also use Uno, but I have for years and I have never experienced this hanging happening (so I think I can rule them out). I emptied the Cache and deleted the .plist for Safari. I have also Reset Safari, all to no avail. Any suggestions or comments would be gratefully accepted. It's driving me crazy!
    Thanks and regards, Chris

    Hi Barry,
Thanks for the response. Do you really think any haxies would be the culprit this late in the game (not a new version of Safari etc.)? Just curious. I'll give it a shot...but I do love Uno and Safaricon, both are such great software for modifying the GUI, I would hate to lose them.
    Regards, Chris

  • OS x mavericks Safari hangs when i swipe between pages

OS x mavericks Safari hangs when i swipe between pages
i configured the mouse to swipe between pages one of the best basic features from apple
and now OS x mavericks kills it. and i use force to stop a lot with this new update.
and Mavericks is going to feel more like Microsoft windows slow, annoying, no fun to work with

I have the exact same problem. The mystery is that it happens everytime on my iMac and does not happen on my MacBook Air.  Both are running the same versions of everything.

  • Safari Hangs when multiple tabs and windows open [was part of safari slow-]

This is to create a new topic with regards to Safari, but with many windows and/or tabs open.
Some have posted information in the previous topic, i.e.: safari slow - has anyone talked to someone at Apple?
This post will be specifically about hangs and ball spinning cursors when many windows are being used simultaneously within Safari.
    Please post your comments below.

    No worries have sorted it now...you need to go to;
System Prefences-->General-->Untick the box which says 'Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps' (A couple of lines from the bottom)
And then most importantly restart the mac.  It was this last step I never did and thats why I couldn't get it to stop this unwanted behaviour.

  • Safari hangs when quitting

Since installing the 10.10.3 update, Safari hangs every time I quit the application.
Is there any way to fix this, or should I just move to another browser?

Back up all data before proceeding.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
               ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
              Caches/com.apple.Safari
              Caches/com.apple.Safari.SearchHelper
              Caches/com.apple.SafariServices
              Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
              Caches/com.apple.WebProcess
              Caches/Metadata/Safari
              Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
              Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If the problem is solved, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have a problem, continue.
    Step 2
Move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
              Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
              Internet Plug-Ins
              Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Safari.*.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.Extensions.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
              PubSub/Database
              Safari
              SyncedPreferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Here, "*" stands for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
Note 1: You are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”
Note 2: This step will remove your Safari extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to reinstall them, do so one at a time, testing each time to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
Try again. Your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
              File ▹ Import Bookmarks...
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in Step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you don’t like the results of the last step, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • Safari Hangs when trying on preferences panel

    HI everybody!
Hi have found that safari hangs and shoul be force quitted when I do:
safari menu -> preferences -> safety (keylock icon)
    Any solution?
I have migrated from an old messy machine with same version of operating system
    Thanks a lot everybody !

    Hi,
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
    Quit Safari. Command + Q.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. Go to Safari / Preferences - Security. If Safari doesn't freeze, move that .plist file to the Trash.
I have migrated from an old messy machine with same version of operating system
If Safari still freezes when you try accessing the Security pane, you may have migrated some Safari third party unsupported add-ons that aren't compatible with the latest version of Safari.
Follow the instructions here for troubleshooting:
Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • Safari hangs when coming out of standby

    I have a 15" early 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.6.7.
When I open my MacBook Pro (ie, when it comes out of standby), and go into Safari (which is already open), Safari hangs for at least 10 seconds. This happens about 95% of the time. It makes no difference if Safari is reset - the problem still occurs.
Similarly, but less frequently, the system hangs for about 10 seconds at the password screen when opening the laptop lid - approximately 20% of the time.
Clearly this is not an ideal situation!
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    J

Might be a third party Safari plugin causing the lag time.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable Plugins.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
Since the Mac hangs at the login screen, check for login items.
Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps you have listed there. And go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash.
If you haven't checked the startup disk lately, try that.
    Launch Disk Utility.  /Applications/Utillities.
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Safari hangs when loading web pages.

I'm new to the Mac and had my machine less than a week. However, I'm having problems with Safari/Internet. Generally it's fine, but from time to time Safari hangs and it can take a few minutes for it to spring back into life and load the desired web page. It's not the internet itself as I tested it on another device whilst experiencing the problem and could load sites fine. I can only think it's a problem either with some setting in Safari, or with the Mac's WiFi.
Has anyone experienced the same issue, or more to the point does anyone know how to fix it?

From the menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit, relaunch Safari to test.
Try Safari > Preferences - Privacy. Click Remove All Website Data. Quit, relaunch Safari to test.
If you installed anti virus software, disable that.
If you installed any Safari third party add ons, follow the instructions here > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try deleting the cache.db file.
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safar/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.

  • Why does safari hang when I'm entering a form on a web page?

My company requires us to use iPads to access a web site where we enter information on our patients.  Whenever I tap the save or submit button in either Safari or Mercury the application hangs with no activity in the title bar.  I can tap the home key and run other apps but the browsers hang.  The only other computers I have access to are Windows desktops and the same site works fine on them.  I've tried this through wi-fi and through 3G with the same results.  Any suggestions on what I can try or change to stop this issue?

  • Why does Safari hang when launching?

Using Safari 1.3 on 10.3.9 for a couple weeks now; everything has been running well, until today.
Safari will launch from a Help command within an application (eg: any CS application), open it's own window, blue connection status gets halfway across the window bar, then it will hang with the spinning beach ball... until I force quit.
Same thing happens when launched from the dock or directly from the applications folder. Explorer, Firefox all work fine. All other apps working fine.
Tried trashing Safari prefs, no change. Deleted all Safari files and tried to install v1.2 instead (as a download from Apple), but now the Safari installer hangs as well. No problem with installing or re-installing other apps.
Additionally, Sherlock will now no longer launch.
Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

  • Safari crashed when posting in Japanese?

    Dear Forum,
As my earlier post didn't go through for some reason, I will re-formulate my message. If for some reason this ends up as a double-question, I do sincerly apologise. Please don't get cross. From my searches, my earlier enquiry isn't popping up.
To re-cap: when I post a comment using the Japanese language, through Safari, I always get an unexpected quit. Then, my finder goes very freaky: vertical shaking that requires good timing to 'grab' the Apple menu and force the Finder to quit. Then all is back to normal. When I re-launch Safari I see that my comment was posted.
This happens anytime I write a message in Japanese, via the input menu [koteori] on a blog, forum, or similar interactive environment. It's not a huge problem, but I would like to avoid the crash. Any ideas at all?
    Thanks for reading,
    Sean Somers

Does it happen in this forum as well?
Does it happen when you use another browser like FireFox?

  • Safari hangs when waking from sleep in Lion

Not sure if "Hangs" is the correct terminology. Since upgrading to 10.7.1 on my Intel Mac Pro, I can wake the machine up. There will be a couple of apps asking me to enter my password, which is normal. I enter my password and hit return but the password dialog for those apps don't go away. Also, Safari remains the front most app according to the menu bar. I can force quit apps, mouse works, I can drag windows around, but Safari always remains the front most app in the menu, even if I force quit Safari.
I can, and have logged into the Mac Pro from another Mac via terminal, and nothing looks horribly wrong. Top shows nothing stuck. Running `ps ax | grep Safari` shows it is not running, despite it still showing in the menu bar as the front most app.
Also, the keyboard buffer appears to fill up. If I keep typing, eventually I get the omnious beep sound of a full keyboard buffer. After this the keyboard is useless.
I have repeated this twice so far, both time needing to hard reboot the machine.
Any troubleshooting ideas for a problem like this would be appreciated?

So, my machine fell asleep, and when it awoke, I typed in my password to unlock OmniFocus and Yahoo Messenger. Then nothing, back to a machine I could move the mouse on, move windows around, but couldn't actually access anything. I noticed however, the Yahoo Messenger window was stuck trying to reconnect and the OmniFocus Keychain unlock window was still on the screen. Even with forcing Yahoo Messenger to quit, I could not get around the keychain window.
Knowning this, I checked for updates to Yahoo Messenger and Omnifocus, and low and behold there is an update for Lion compatibility for OmniFocus, and a more recent version of Yahoo Messenger. With these two upgraded, hopefully this will resolve any more  issues.
Seems 99.9% of all my issues with Lion were over software needing to be updated. Not a bad thing, but it takes time.

  • Safari hangs when printing

    Hi
Is anyone having trouble printing web pages with Safari? I am running v. 4.0.4 with OS X 10.6.2 and an HP C4280 Photosmart All-In-One printer (and reinstalled the drivers).
When I select print, Safari just hangs and kind of freezes (becomes slow to respond) and won't print the page nor open the print window.
I've cleared the cache and reset. Any solutions, anyone??
    writah1

    Hello w:
Try trashing a preference file and restarting (com.apple.safari.plist). Then I would delete the printer, restart, and add it back in. By the by, I suggest you delete whatever drivers you installed. OS X has built-in drivers for many many printers.
