Safari locks up on my macbook air and can not be restarted.  Doing a reboot gets me back to normal but every time I restart Safari it goes to the locked up page.

Quit Safari. If it won't quit in the usual way, select
     ▹ Force Quit...
from the menu bar, then select Safari from the list and press return.
Relaunch Safari by holding down the shift  key and clicking its icon in the Dock. That will stop the bad page from reloading automatically. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server.

  • Ever since I downloaded Yosemite Safari has stopped working

Ever since I downloaded Yosemite Safari has stopped working

    Dear Dr Mommy,
Please help us help you. MacBook Pros have been in continuous production since 2006 in dozens of variants. Which do you have? The oldest models that "officially" support Yosemite do not always run it well because their hardware falls into the "just barely" category.
Is this the slow computer you asked about last April 8 (15-inch Mid 2009; 4GB RAM)? If so, did you follow the suggestions in that thread about removing MacKeeper and some  of the other third-party performance killers that showed up?
Do any of the following apply:
    1) Are you running any anti-virus/internet security applications?
    2) Are you running any "cleaning/tune-up/optimizations" applications?
    3) Any peer-to-peer or torrent downloading software?
    4) Any third-party disk backup software that came bundled with an external hard drive?
    5) Any online backup scheme other than iCloud (Carbonite; GoogleDrive; MS One Drive)?

First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for Safari generated at the time of the "Safari has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name Safari in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.) Here's a screenshot showing what to doubleclick:
You should see something that looks like the following screenshot:

I generated the problem report similar to the above screen shot " by way of IE 9 "  but will not let me copy and paste the contents as a screen shot in reply to your post here . Copy to clipboard did not work either. I might be doing something wrong. Oh well.
By the way , the only difference is- The Problem Event Name of mine is not BEX. but rather : APPCRASH. Fault Module Name : JavaScriptCore.dll.  Fault Module Version: 7534.55.2.1. The rest are very similar to the above screenshot. If you need more information then I guess I have to do it  all manually. Please let me know. Thanks again.

    Hi..
    Go to   /Library/Internet Plug-Ins

  • Windows 7 64-bit: Safari has stopped working

Help needed! I am one of those guys that has to use a Windows machine at Work. So I have a Windows 7 64-bit OS on my work laptop. I use Safari at home on my Macs. Since I have a browser choice, I surely want to use Safari 5 on my Windows 7 machine but so far I am having no luck. Safari runs for X minute (time varies) and then all of sudden crashes with a message "Safari has stopped working." I have uninstalled Safari, manually cleaned up all the Safari folders that go into user account preferences, ran a registry cleaner via WinUtilities so that all traces of Safari are gone. Then did a fresh install with Administrator privileges (I even tried the install with my own login ID) but either way the result is the same -- Safari 5 crashes at random. What can I do to make Safari 5 on Windows 7 stable? Please advice.
    Thank you!

Fingers crossed, the problem reports for those errors might cast some fresh light on the source of the problem.
Head into your Problem Reports and Solutions control panel (or the Windows 7 equivalent ... the Action Center?) and look for recent Safari problem reports. Open them up and look through. Do they all seem to be saying the same thing? If so, paste the contents of a typical problem report into a reply here so we can have a look.

Go into your Action Center, find your Problem history and look for Safari problem reports that occur at the same time as those error messages. Open the Safari problem reports and have a look through them. Do they all say pretty much the same thing? • Safari has stopped working (MSVCR80.dll)

I get a Windows 7 error "Safari has stopped working". I've tried a number of things (e.g., uninstalling and installing Safari, re-installing Windows 7, disabling plug-ins, disabling Java, disabling Javascript, uninstalling itunes, ran CCleaner, Malabytes, etc.). I'm practically running barebones in terms of running apps. But, nothing seems to get rid of this error. I would try Restore before I saw the error, but the earlier dates for restoring are missing, so I cannot restore the computer to an earlier date before I noticed the problem.
The browser works fine for about 5 minutes, and then gives the error. What can I do to get rid of this pesky problem? I like Safari and want to continue using it, but I am at wits end...

Any thing else to try before giving up on using this browser??

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
Then close Safari. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Now reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Safari has stopped opening certain webpages and says can't connect to server... This started 3 months ago with FB and now randomly with another site... all other sites are fine.. Help?
I've tried resetting safari, deleting all webpage data and setting time/date to automatic, but no such luck.
The message that comes up is: "Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server 'Facebook' "
I'd be genuinely impressed if anyone were to actually work out what was wrong.

    Hi ..
Might be a cookies, cache, or extensions issue.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

if my wife has numbers on her macbook air can i download it on my macbook pro?

If it was purchased on the App Store, then yes. But it will require the same Apple ID used to purchase it in order to re-download it onto your computer. The re-download is free.

  • Charger cable connected to the display screens has stopped charging my macbook

the charger cable connected to the display screens has stopped charging my macbook. Can you replace these cables? It doesn't appear you can disconnect the cable, like you can the power supply to the display screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Mine did the same thing after 5 months, it is broken just go to the store and as long as you bought the phone within the last year they will replace it for free. They are well aware of the problem

  • Safari has stopped loading images

Ok so I seriously need some help quickly here, I've been on my laptop all day and it's been fine but since about an hour ago (although I didn't know the extent of it until just now after trying a few different webpages) Safari has just stopped loading any images whatsoever. I thought it may have just been a Youtube glitch, where I first saw it, when the thumbnails weren't loading but the videos were working fine but now I've noticed that no webpage is loading any images at all, no logos, no photos, no buttons in some cases which must be clickable images I guess. I've tried the good old 'quit and reopen it and hope it's fixed itself' method and tried restarting my entire Macbook (a mid-2011 Macbook Air if it makes any difference) but neither has fixed it. Has something been disabled/enabled somehow that I'm not aware of or what?
To note too I also updated Safari yesterday to 6.1.5, along with iTunes and some security settings too I think when the system update popped up if that may have effected it somehow although it's been working fine all day up until now. I seriously need some help asap!

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Safari quit unexpectedly on my Macbook Air, help please

    Hi,
Today my Macbook Air quit unexpectedly on my McBook Air and it won't load, it keeps giving me the same error message and the
option to reload, which it doesn't, but only gives me the same message. I sent the report to Apple, but I need to use my browser. I am on Google Chrome
to ask this question. How can I fix this.
I am on a late 2010 MacBook Air, running OS X Yosemite with the latest updates, included is Safari 7.
I was on the Weight Watchers site and an ad for MacPhoto appeared, so I clicked it for a download (I know, I don't usually do this, but I figured i was safe since
it was on this site). The download popped into my DL folder, I think next I left the page to check on the DL and when  did, it quit and I can't get it to load again. I did all the usual things. I tried restarting, nothing, then total shutdown and 5 minute wait and restarted, still nothing. what can I do to fix this?
    Thanks so much,
    Savannah7

I would probably reinstall OS X 10.10 from the recovery disk. All your data is preserved. I suppose there are ways to clear cache, find the offending program, etc., but (since you are not quite sure what has happened) I would reinstall.

  • Has anyone upgraded your MacBook Air SSD? Is it possible?

Just out of curiosity, Can you upgrade your SSD? Have any of you upgraded your SSD in your Mid 2012 MacBook Air? If so, what did you use and how much can the 2012 Air SSD take?
    THANKS

This is what I found below on the OWC site. My Macbook Air is 5,2 and it says that it is compatible.  I checked the video and looks pretty straight forward. I am just looking for what people's experiences were and what the outcome was... Has anyone upgraded their SSD to 1TB? Good or bad idea?
