Safari internet screen remains grayed out

My mother did something to the Safari internet page and now its all grayed out. I can still see the webpages like normal, but the whole screen looks to be highlighted gray and I can't click on anything on the page. The search bar function still works and goes to other pages, but nothing else does because of the gray highlight. Any suggestions how I can unhighlight the page?

Nevermind...found the answer.
Clear cookies, browser and cache.
Shut off and turn back on...........works like normal.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My Safari screen is grayed out.  It does not respond to touch. How can I restore it back to life?

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut down. then hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start up.
You can also reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep button and home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears (takes about 10 seconds) - ignore the red slider.

  • Whenever i start my macbook pro the screen remains gray with the apple symbol and the circle timer below. The screen stays this way even if i leave it for hours.

When i turn on my macbook a box appears telling me i need to restart my computer (in different languages) and in order to do so i have to press on the off button for a lil while. Even after doing this the same box appears and it never restarts correctly. This box appears every single time. I rarely turn my computer off. I just place it on sleep mode and restarts it only when i get prompted to. I brought it to genius and they couldnt figure out what the problem is so i was told it needed to be shipped to get fixed. I didnt have anything backed up. All i want saved are the pictures because i went to 2 events where i was the assigned photographer and i didnt get to save it to an external memory. Genius said that when shipped i cant give instructions like make sure to save the pictures and if they are unable to, call me if they should go on with the process. I was wishful thinking that to fix the problem they might not even have to touch the pictures memory part. I brought my MBP back home hoping it will miraculously starts and id be able to back it up but now all it does when i turn it on is the screen remains gray with the apple symbol and the circle timer below. The screen stays this way even if i leave it on for hours. Please help me fix this!!! cant i really specify to the technicians at apple  to please make sure not to erase the pictures? Is there no other way to turn on my mac? I only need it to work ones.

  • Import button remains grayed out when adding existing folder to LR 4

Greetings.  I'm following the steps in the following link from Adobe:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WSE828B644-9097-46ab-98A7-E2719BBB6647.htm l
The final step, after selecting the folder I want to add, is to select Import.  Except, the Import button remains grayed out.  I'm not sure what to do in order to select Import and add the folder I already have.
    Thanks,
    Mike H.

Thank you for the information.  Yes, that seems to make sense based on what I've discovered using LR 4.  Still trying to come up to speed.  Appreciate everyone's help with their tips and insight.

Folders per se cannot be imported - only pictures (or movies) in a folder can. So, you have to select a folder containing at least one picture or movie (all pictures and movies found are automatically selected when the import dialog opens). This is probably not the case for the folder you want to add, so "no photos found" is displayed in the dialog center and the "Import" button is greyed out.

  • Adobe Flash Player has blocked me from using FF. A box shows up and the upper screen is grayed out

When I start FF, a small box comes up in the upper middle of the screen - it is from Flash Player and it has two selections: allow and deny. With this flash player box, the upper third of the screen is grayed out. It will not allow use of most visited, bookmarks, or anything that is to be initiated at the top of the page. Even if I start a program, I cannot use the upper controls for that program. This is the second day that it has been blocking my use of FF. Note: I also use Seamonkey, but it has not been affected by the flash player problem. I have re-installed flash player, re-booted, restarted FF, and no changes have come about. I am still blocked from using FF. In fact, I am using this support page on Seamonkey.

this sounds really strange, could you attach a screenshot of the issue?
another thing you can try to troubleshoot the issue is a clean reinstall: remove firefox from the windows control panel & chose to remove all personal data in the uninstaller. afterwards manually check if the firefox program folder got deleted (it's usually in ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox'') and else remove it manually. then download & install a fresh copy at getfirefox.com
if this doesn't work either please do a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner], [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx microsoft safety scanner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan].

  • Leopard iChat Screen Sharing Grayed out

    Hi there-
I'm experiencing an issue with the new "Share my screen" feature of Leopard OS X 10.5. I've been able to successfully establish a connection with two other people in both directions (letting them control my screen, and controlling their screen), however have had issues connecting to my father (whom, of course, would be the most useful to have the feature with for support/troubleshooting).
Basically, in iChat the option to request control of his screen is grayed out when I attempt to connect to him. On his end, his option to share his screen is grayed out. Interestingly, my option to share my screen with him is available and he can request control of my screen, but it never actually connects.
Are there any firewall ports that need to be open on our routers? Has anyone else seen this problem?
I have an intel based 24" iMac (the white model), and he has the brand new 20" iMac.
I wasn't sure whether to post here or in the Leopard Forum, so I'll post in both.
    Thanks for your help!
    Joel

I've done that, to both iMacs (Intel based) though i still have them grayed out. Before, when the other computer's screen sharing was turned off, and mine was on, i was able to offer him to share my screen, but once he activated his Screen sharing from the System Pref. we both are having the Screen sharing button grayed out in Bonjour and AIM Buddy List.
    Any hints? much appreciated
    Thanks in advance

  • During an upgrade power was interrupted and when rebooting tune came on by screen remained gray.

During an upgrade, power was interrupted and when rebooting, the chime sounded, but screen remained gray.

What version of OSX is it?
    If it's 10.7 or higher...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • ICal uses up my screen showing grayed-out hours of the night when I do not have appointments - support instructions about Preferences do not work.

iCal has preferences that let you decide how many hours per day you want to see, and which hours of the day you want to make appointments. For example, I need to see 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and I don't need to make appointments for the night. If I specify in my prefs that my "day starts at 7 am" and "day ends at 8 pm," when I look at my screen it still shows me all 24 hours---with nighttime grayed out.
This also happens if I change the number of hours I ask to be shown, in preferences again. For example, if I specify that I want to make appointments for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., that totals ten hours. Whether I click "Show 24 hours" or "Show 10 hours," I still have those grayed-out, useless nighttime hours taking up my screen and forcing me to scroll when I don't want to scroll. I don't want my day to start at 1 a.m. When I click onto a day, I want to see 7 a.m. at the top of the screen.
I'm on Snow Leopard, iMac intel duo, running iCal 4.0.4 .
Here are the official support directions/instructions for this.
"To change the time range that appears in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences and click General. To change the range of time when you’re normally available each day, choose your daytime hours from the “Day starts at” and “Day ends at” pop-up menus. All times outside that range are shaded in the day or week calendar view.To set the number of hours that are displayed when you view your calendar in Day or Week view, choose a number from the Show pop-up menu."
It mentions these unavailable hours will be "shaded," but my issue isn't whether or not they are shaded (I don't much care) but the fact that I don't want to see them on my screen and be forced to scroll a lot.
I took screen grabs of these calendars and corresponding Preferences settings, but apparently I'm supposed to go into Photoshop and resize them, etc etc, in order to upload them to this forum. Not going to do it. I hope my description above is clear enough.
