Restricting the websites a user can view
You can use parental controls to limit the websites a user can view in Safari. Users will be able to view only those websites that are in the bookmarks bar. In addition, they will not be able to enter web addresses in the address field, use the Google search field, or modify any of the bookmarks.
Log in as the user, and open Safari.
Choose Safari > Preferences, click Security, and deselect "Enable Parental Controls" if they are selected.
Enter an administrator's name and password when asked.
Add bookmarks for the websites you want the user to visit in the bookmarks bar. Remove all other bookmarks from the bookmarks bar.
When you're done, choose Safari > Preferences, click Security, and select "Enable parental controls."
When you add a bookmark to the bookmarks bar, the user will be able to visit any webpage on that website. For example, if you add a bookmark for http://www.apple.com/index.html, the user will be able to visit any webpage at apple.com, and not just index.html.
Parental controls will not prevent a user from viewing websites in other browsers. To prevent a user from using other web browsers, use the Accounts pane in System Preferences to set up the parental controls for Finder & System, and choose the applications the user can open.

Private browsing help here >  iOS:  Safari web settings
For Safari for Mac OS X ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Private Browsing
You can only block all history in Private Browsing, pages you visit, and autofill.

  • Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs - + sign closes app

Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs or view other tabs.
The + sign just closes the app every single time!
In some cases, the back and forward buttons don't work.
It's driving me crazy becuase if the webpage I'm on opens and ad or tab that I don't want to look at, I can't close it and go back, I have to retype the web address in and find where I was on the site!

I, too, tried all the fixes...nothing worked.
Found another thread on this forum and looks like a lot of us are having same problem.
Next time it happens, go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT and check to see it there is a "low memory" incident report.
    If there is:
See the discussion thread "iPad Air Low Memory Crashes".
Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.

  • Add / Mark favorites to new bar in Safari IOS7

Can someone tell me how to add a new "favorite" in Safari IOS7?
I removed the standard Disney / Yahoo websites in the new bar but don't know how to mark an other website ( with a Star )
I'm sure it is quite simple ............ Thanx for any suggestions.

To add it to favourites tap the icon of the square with the upward pointing arrow to the left of the URL field, then tap Bookmark, tap Location and select Favourites (which should be at the top of the left).

  • IMac...Safari not working when parental controls enabled, even when no safari or application restrictions have been set.

I woke up one morning to find that Safari could only open webpages on the administrator account.
The other accounts had parental controls enabled. However, not all of them even had any restrictions for using applications or Safari content. When I totally disabled parental controls, these other accounts could get access the internet through safari. When I enabled them (without setting up any paramters), Again Safari could not open any web pages. I tried reseting also.
Has anyone had this issue or have an idea of what I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

I had the same problem, Safari would not open at all in the accounts that had parent controls enabled. I resolved this by going into the admin account and making a copy of safari then pasting it into the library folders as well as the application folders. You can also paste a copy of safari into the other user accounts (desktop) from the admin account. Once that is done, open the parent controls  system  (check the applications to allow) Internet tab then check safari. Hope that works for you

  • Why does the Safari iOS7 Browser truncate Options in a Select control?

    Sir or Madam ;
I'm working on a website tailored to mobile device usage, and the SELECT control widget in the Safari from iOs7.0 seems to be really problematic. Previous versions of the software would wrap the text around if it exceeded the width defined by the screen width.
The current version seems to be a step backwards; Now strings more than, say, twenty characters in length seem to be likely to be truncated.
    What's with this?
.. and is there a way to coerce the widget into wrapping the text as necessary.
    Best Wishes..

deleting the adobe plugins in Library worked for me:

  • Whee is the 'Find in page' function in safari ios7?

I'm unable to find the 'find' function in the updated ios7 safari? Can bony body help? Thanks.

After you load complete page, just type in adress bar term that you want to find and scroll all the way down. You will see new "section" which is called on this page and number of matched terms in brackets. If you click on one of the word found on page it will lead you to a part of that page and the term will be highlighted.

  • Safari And Website Restrictions

I want a faster reply so here. I made another account on my MacBook for my sister. I want to ban MySpace on it. When I tried on the admin account (this one) it said that I should configure it in the account for my sister. How can I ban websites?

  • Help for safari ios7

Does anyone know a link for help with Safari in the new ios7? Is it me or is there very little documentation on this and the rest of ios7 (except for all the pretty Apple stuff)?
I particularly would like to find out how to create a new Bookmark. Everything I do seems to create a Folder...
    Thank you,
    Scott

Apparently that icon is the new Share icon:
    AirDrop in action
To use AirDrop, tap the Share button (which looks like a square with an arrow pointing up) when viewing data you can share in AirDrop.
Sorry-since it had an upward pointing icon, I stupidly though "Air drop."
    Sorry,,,and thanks again.

  • Safari crashes with restrictions on

If I put restrictions to block all websites except those on a white list safari crashes when I start entering a URL into the search bar. It often crashes a few letters in. Now using iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1.1 but the same happened with my iPhone4 with iOS 7.1.2. It doesn't crash if there are no restrictions.
My theory is that it tries to search for the word on Google but because google is blocked (as even with safe search there are plenty of images not appropriate) it crashes.
    Is this a bug.
Also is there a way to blacklist websites without entering a password?
    Thanks on advance.

    Hi,
Go here. Download and install a more recent version of Flash.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
After the installation, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Safari IOS7 wont display embeded youtube vids on websites - help!

Hi, anyone else having this issue?
My website has embeded youtube vids in it, but neither safari or chrome will display them after the IOS7 update. First time you land on the page they are there, move away and come back, or refresh, and they vanish, but are still there as you can hear them playing if you click where they were...
    David

I have the same problem , sometimes the videos are displayed and sometimes you don't see anything...
I've tried it on all my devices with ios7 ( iPhone 5 , iPad 4 & iPad mini )  and they all have this problem , so this must be a bug in ios7 !!!

  • Adding a bookmark in Safari ios7?

I cannot add a bookmark in Safari.  I updated to iOS 7.0.2 a week ago.  When I try to use the bookmark button (box with an upward arrow) Safari freezes and I have to close it.  I looked at settings for software and it said I am up to date.  All of my existing bookmarks are there, but I cannot add any new ones.  I don't know what else to do.  Any ideas?

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.  Now close Safari.
To close an app - Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to Safari and then swipe "up" on the Safari thumbnail to close it. Now reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Now see if you can add bookmarks without Safari freezing.

  • Remove applets in Safari iOS7

I just upgraded my iPad to OS7 and every time I open a new tab in Safari, I get three stupid applets to link me to either Yahoo!, Disney or Apple. I never asked for them, so does anyone know how to get rid of them?

    Here's how to do it:
    1. Open safari
    2. Click your open book for book marks
    3. It while open and say shared links click the far left button that looks like your bookmark button (the open book)
    4. Click Favorites
    5. Swipe the ones you want to delete from right to left
    5. Delete the bookmarks you don't want
You will see the bookmarks from before you upgraded before you hit Favorites

  • Why can't i find vertical tabs in safari ios7?

Hi, i have updated my iPad and iPad mini to iOS 7. In Safari, however, i can't find the icon to get the tabs in vertical for browsing. Can anyone help? thx

    thanks Courcoul.
i can understand that you have no idea what i referred to! So have a look at the picture attached!
that said, I've just had a look at the User Guide, as you suggested, and could'nt find any reference to it. So I guess the vertical tabs only exist for iphones not iPads...
    thx again!
